    Lincoln

Terrific acting and screenplay. Did not notice the length of the film. Wonder about historical accuracy of some details I had not heard before. Made for a good story in any case. Should win lots of awards.

    Lincoln

    by Turk V

The movie was exceptional on many different levels. I was totally engrossed from beginning to end. But I have two criticisms. First, I thought the title could have been more creative. I was expecting an epic tale about the Lincoln presidency, but really it was just about his efforts to get the 13th amendment passed -- which covered about 1 month of his presidency. Moreover, getting the 13th amendment passed could not have been done without the herculean efforts of numerous Americans (both inside his cabinet and in congress). So I just think the title should have been one that captured the efforts of others -- it that was bigger than just Lincoln. Second, I wish Hollywood would find American actors to play the roles of great Americans. In this movie, the roles of Abraham Lincoln and Ulysseus Grant were played by British actors. Now I concede that both actors did a stellar job in portraying these men, and I have no criticism of their work, I just prefer americans in these roles.

    Incredible acting

Great and well told story but the acting is what made this stand out. The ending seemed weak but I would love to see it again.

    High-minded History

"Lincoln" was great, but not perfect; it was probably a bit more high-minded than real. For example, I doubt that crowds outside Congress cheered the anti-slavery amendment's passage (but I could be wrong). And one of the Black soldiers Lincoln speaks with early in the film is way too 21st century in his awareness of rights and his sassy attitude.

But all in all, it was compelling and it did make me tear up at least once. And the acting was superb. Sally Field, Daniel Day-Lewis, and Tommy Lee Jones should all be Oscar favorites, with Spielberg and Kushner contending for best director and best screen-writer.

    Lincoln

I thoroughly enjoyed the movie. The movie helped to give me some incite as to what President Lincoln was like, as well as others in that time. I find it a shame that with all the advances we have made it this world we really still have not gotten past all that and learned to live together treating and excepting each other as equals.

Excellent movie a must see movie!

This movie is a great from beginning to end the Portrait of Lincoln was, wonderful an enjoyable movie, of history and how the political system looks like when being run or set up. Negotiations and how when a quality leader I place and understand the making of history not just another amendment.

    Nice history lesson

    by 2spoons

It was OK. I wont see it again. It was hard to follow in spots and didn't have any "That was brilliant " moments that we have come to expect. I would have liked to have more background on Lincoln to develop his character better. I personally felt that some of the foul the language in spots (GD's) was demeaning to my faith.

    Lincoln

Great movie and historically accurate. Loved the attention to detail and the actor -- Daniel Day-Lewis -- is best actor performance!! Sally Field less enthralled -- although maybe she was historically accurate, since Mary Todd was apparently NOT a fun person to be around.

    Lincoln

Simply awe-inspiring. From practically the moment we sat down, until the bitter sweet end, we were mesmerized. Daniel Day Lewis' performance was remarkable. There can be no contest for the Academy Awards; he is the winner! And, to be reminded of the President our country had in Lincoln was worth every second of viewing. I recommend this to everyone.

    Lincoln was extremely well done

    by LT-7

The acting, directing, cinematography, and attention to detail were excellent. The film is the most historically accurate that I have seen in a long time.

It is for ages 11 and up, I think. It does show the results of the violence of war of that time period, which wouldn't be appropriate for children younger than that.

Where are leaders like this now?

Daniel Day-Lewis does a marvelous job with a wonderful movie. Portrays the sins of our forefathers that we thought were only evident today. A must-see movie if you care about the founding of our nation and why we have so much to be proud of.

    Who We Are Today

    by cavitt

I am seldom as engaged in a story, visually and empathetically, as when watching Lincoln.

The opening scene is a visual motivation to find nonviolent ways to establish peace.

    It just get better.

    Great movie - highly recommended

Daniel Day-Lewis was extraordinary and Tommy Lee Jones nearly steals every scene he's in. SHould have ended with Lincoln going through the door but that's my opinion. Other than the uncomfortable seats at the theatre, this was a great movie going experience.

    Lincoln is great

Lincoln is a masterpiece - an engrossing story well told, with outstanding acting. The film really captures the era and the weighty issues the country faced. Day-Lewis is amazing but the rest of the cast is quite good as well. This is a fantastic history lesson powerfully told on the big screen.
