The last stand I think not

    by

This movie was great. Full of fast car chases big explosions killer guns. And let us not forget some of Arnalds greatest one-liners. Johnny Knoxville was funny as hell. All in all if you like a good action movie go see this

    Entertainment Arnold style

Like most reviewers, I agree that this is a fun and entertaining movie. Looking for an action movie with a a little humor in it, this is your movie. Like everyone else has said, this isn't a great cinematic achievement, but it is fun and goes well with popcorn.

Good mix of action and comedy

I wasn't so sure about seeing this in the theater but I was glad I saw it. I was pleasantly surprised how funny the movie was. Of course there was a lot of action but the story line was solid and the actors were very good. I'd definitely recommend seeing it. Maybe see it on a discount day at your theater or wait till it comes out on DVD but definitely worth seeing.

If you love 80's action movies you will love this one

It's been some time since we've seen Arnold starring in anything worthwhile. Despite having a few minutes in the "Expendables 2", this is the first time in a while since Arnold took command of a movie. Other than looking his age, unlike his buddy Stallone, Arnold seems to have a knack for giving a performance suitable for someone twenty years his junior. He manages to show some emotion as he is the Sheriff of a small town that has a motley crue of deputies. Forest Whittaker plays the usual serious law enforcement official and Johnny Knoxville has a few good scenes that provide some comic relief. The only thing I'm not a fan of is the bad guy who is played by some guy that looks more like he's a backup dancer for Ricky Martin. Solid action with some great looking car chase scenes and minimal down time. If your an action fan you'll enjoy this movie.

    The Last Stand

This is Arnold's first big leading role since he was the Govenator of California [he had only cameo parts in the Expendables] . It's directed by Jee-woon Kim and this is his first American film [you might have seen his 'A Tale of Two Sisters' or 'The Good, The Bad, The Weird'] . Here , Arnold plays a small town sheriff that left the big city life of the LAPD for a more quite lifestyle . Forest plays an FBI agent that is transporting a Mexican drug lord [and , of course , looses him] . The drug lord plans his escape to go right through Arnold's small town [for some reason , it's the only route to Mexico] and that's when the fireworks begin . Jaimie is one of Arnold's deputies , Johnny gets deputized [he has some firepower that comes in handy] and Peter is a henchman that works for the bad guys . Let's see , there is action , comedy , fast cars and explosions and even some future one-liners ["I'm the Sheriff!"] . What's not to like ?
I would buy it on Blu-Ray.
    Later, Steve

    ARNOLD IS BACK!

Arnold is back and as old as ever! Just kidding. This movie was a lot of fun. It had a nice balance of humor but had just enough action that you would expect in an Arnold movie. You have an excaped fugitive who is doing everything he can to make it to Mexico. The only problem is, he has to make his way through the small town in Arizon whcih is called Sommerton. Arnold and his band of misfits are the last line of defense and must do everything they can to stop him and his band of thugs. This was a fun movie, and i encourage you all to go see it. I can't wait to get it on DVD!!!! Money well spent.

Wow!!! Arnold is still the man!

    by

After watching the idiotic "Broken City" yesterday (in case you'er not sure, that was a clue - don't see Broken City) The Last Stand was a breath of fresh air! It depends on what type of movie you want to see. If you're looking for an Academy Award for best picture, then see Lincoln or Les Miserables. But if you want to see a good ol' fashioned action movie, put together pretty well and with comedy mixed in then The Last Stand is your movie. For being over 60 years old Arnold Schwarzenegger surprisingly does a good job. I had my doubts going into this movie, and even the first 15 minutes my first thought was "ut-oh, he's too old." But as the film progressed Schwarzenegger nails it. There are a few goofy things, like towards the end if the movie Arnold acknowledges he's an immigrant and with the heavy Austrian accent its an easy guess but in the movie his name is "Sheriff Owens?" - not very European. Also, the movie is a tad bit gory receiving an "R" but worth the 7 bucks!!!

    over-rated

The movie started sl-o-ow, had a good middle and an ending that was predictable and a little stereotypical. The story line itself was interesting. Arnold didn't have any known actors that I recognized. I'm glad there wasn't much money put into this movie, because it wasn't worth much. I spent too much money on it myself between my ticket and popcorn. The upcoming previews were good.

    Typical "Arnold"

Lots of guns, cars, blood and action: my two teenage sons loved it. Personally, I thought it was a little too long, but entertaining, if totally implausible.

    Heeeee's back

If you like Arnold movies then you with like this! Most of his movies are good or were good at the time. Being too old! . Its just a movie. if 5'1 tom cruise can pull off a tough guy then so can a 70 year old man.. This is nothing new with hollywood. remember the last James bond movie where Roger moore did acrobats when he was old. Saun Connery same thing.. We dont want them to go! They garentee a good time every time. I will watch Arold in his 90's if I can. Putting an age limit on fun mean that we all loose out. Im also glad the music business decided to bring back old farts too. ACDC,. Rolling stones, U2, not sure about VanHalens comback though lol
Feel like a kid again and go see arnold for the fun of it! How many people were inspired forever by Stalones old inspirational movies? these are the movies that effect out lives and who we are! I still get chills when I here the rocky theme at those motovational siminars. LOL How did you feel after watching the English patiant? lol

    The Last Stand

I agree with the last person who saw the movie, she's right, the slapstick humor and the guns just made this movie a lot of fun to watch. You should definitely go see it, it is a lot of fun!!

    Arnie's Back!

    by

While expectations for the once world's most famous and popular actor return are not high, it helps make this movie better. Since the action stars have aged and took a hiatus till The Expendables reunited everyone, I feel that movies aren't made that way they once where, and that's where Arnold reigns supreme. Nothing you haven't seen before, you still find yourself grinning from ear to ear throughout The Last Stand's total run time. Arnold is a bad-a all over again and hasn't lost much of his comedic timing either. Luis Guzman is still funny, Johnny Knoxville is, well, still a jack-a, and Genesis Rodriguez is soon to be typecast if she doesn't get herself a role where she's more than just eye candy. (She's great in Casa de mi Padre, though.) The violence is fun, the cast works well together, and director Kim Ji-Woon puts it all together so well I'm going to need to see some of his other work. Well worth a trip to the theaters and DEFINITELY worth picking up on DVD if you wait.

    surprisingly good

I heard the movie didn't do very well at the box office and that the critics were hard on it. Then I read a review that panned the movie for having gun violence, for having Arnold in it (seems the reviewer had issues with the Govenator's attempts to balance CA's budget at the expense of some of the unions--which made me like the movie more). Could it be that some of the folks who are down on Arnold would be down on ANY movie he did? Can't say for sure, but I can say that I saw the movie tonight because I was worried it might leave the theaters after its difficult start. I really liked the movie. It was funny at parts, brutal at others, but didn't take itself too seriously. Knoxville was hilarious and Arnold delivered some great lines. This movie isn't for the kids, but delivers a great time to those able to handle it and who aren't so sensitive they think a kindergartener should be expelled for using a finger gun at recess. No Oscars, but lots more fun than those that will win.
