    too long, and strains believability.

There are quite a few satisfying moments in this movie, but it's larded up with unnecessary crap and attempts at humor. You could easily cut a half hour out of it. The humor is fine at first, but the story becomes hard to believe (or stomach) quickly. Disappointing...it could have been good.

    Lightweight Fare

If it weren't for Paul Rudd and Leslie Mann I would have been snoring long before I was, which was about 2/3 through this overly-long (by at least 30 minutes) film. The material was not good enough to be carried even by Rudd and Mann. Their kids, played by Judd Apatow's own kids were pretty cute and adequate. Albert Brooks, as Rudd's dad, was so annoying, I could barely stand to watch the scenes with him and Rudd. A few laughs, yes, but not memorable in any way.
And if I see Melissa McCarthy being Melissa McCarthy one more time in one more movie, I'm offing myself.
I'd give it 2 1/2 stars out of 5. Maybe 3, tops. But then I've seen so many GOOD and entertaining films lately, this can't hold up.

We laughed out loud. It's a funny look at the stage in life that we're all in. If you're in your 40's and married with kids, you must see it. You'll laugh your sides off!

    Hated This Disgusting Screamfest

    by iluvmvz

There are so many reasons to hate this movie. The couple constantly fighting and screaming at each other and their children. Their children constantly yelling profanities at their parents. Are you kidding me?! I would have been picking myself up off the floor if I ever spoke to my parents this way. Does the writer not have a dictionary with words other than profanities?! F*&k, F*&k, F*&k, Say that about 1,000 times and you have the basic dialogue of this stupid movie. I also found the sex scenes boorish and blatant. And let's not forget the drug use. Like, I said, so many reasons to hate this movie.

The movie wasn't bad, however, there were scenes in the trailer that drew me to the movie, but were different in the actual movie (not as funny). Also, there were waaaaay too many unnecessary "F" and "D" words, and waaay more chaos than I feel it warranted. It was also hard to relate to the marriage of the main characters because there was not much background revealed through memory scenes to give us a strong sense of their love. But in the end, it was an overall entertaining movie.

I was really disappointed with this movie. I guess I expected a smart, mature comedy and this movie did not live up to those expectations. The funny scenes were all in the trailer!

People make millions of dollars for this??

Stupid, Lame, Sophomoric, and a huge missed opportunity. And are we really supposed to find a dad screaming "you can take your ipad/iphone and shove it up your icunt!" to a woman standing with her 12-13year old son even a little bit funny?? Or the several intonations from women to "Suck My ****!"

Expected a fun, lighthearted but honest look at midlife/marriage but this is mainly a showcase for vulgarity that any 9th grader could dream up. Would have walked out if I hadn't come with a group.

Please Hollywood, expect more of yourselves!!

Very funny for me at 40 yrs old!

    by

This movie is point on with my age group these days. Some 30 yr old folks with two girls might relate as well and grand parents who have a young heart will love it. It is funny and does have a great point to the story. Great movie.

The curse words were a bit much especially when used by the children. It is definitely NOT a movie to see with your kids- not even teenagers. That aside, I thought the movie was hilarious. Sometimes life can be stranger and funnier than fiction and there are a few scenes I could relate to. It is nice to go to a movie and actually be able to laugh- a true comedy!

    FUNNNNYYYY

I laughed so hard at time I had tears running down my face. It is a great Married Couple movie. Make it a date night and you will be talking about it during the ride home.

    Hilarious

    by

It may be crude but I haven't laughed that hard at a movie in a long while. It was worth seeing, I want to buy it the second it's available. So good!

    40 is anger.

If you're in a troubled relationship, then this movie might be just what you need to end it. The movie is basically 2 hours of awkward arguments with 15 minutes of laughs sprinkled in. Somehow the director found a way to make Jason Segel's scenes not funny...

I thought the movie was hilarious! I didn't feel the 2+ hours was too long because there was enough entertainment from scene to scene to keep me laughing pretty much all the way through. I do get, though, that if you're not in the same situation (40ish, married with kids), the humor may elude you...

IF YOU ARE BORING, UPTIGHT AND AWKWARD - DONT BOTHER...

HOWEVER, if you are fun loving, young at heart, can appreciate hilarious, overly dramatic moments and do not take life too seriously - this movie is for YOU (and a Judd A. fan, obvs).

In my opinion, everything Apatow touches turns to gold. I had the expectation of this being a pretty horrible movie, but am always up to give Judd a shot. Once again, not disappointed. Might be my favorite movie of his to date.

The cast is OUTSTANDING, with surprise appearances by everyone from Annie Mumolo to Megan Fox. Even Molly McCarthy is on screen, acting out one of the most hilarious scenes in any movie I've ever seen - this is clearly a tight knit group of actors on and off screen and the chemistry is evident.

I cannot say enough about this film.
