A Great Way to Spend the Evening

This movie was hilarious and the laughs were continuous from start to finish. It is a longer movie but it didn't seem that way and I was entertained through the whole thing. For those of you that are fans of Judd Appatow, this movie will not let you down.

All 40ish Married Couples Should See This Movie!

My wife and I laughed at and connected with this movie. Shows the beauty of marriage - all the highs, lows, fears, foibles and each emotion in between. The acting is good, the setups realistic, and the laughs spaced well. I never felt the movie dragged - good flow for over two hours. I believe we will watch this movie every time we are having a rough patch :)

    FUNNY, FUNNY, FUNNY!!!

This move was hilarious but, YOU REALLY HAVE TO BE OVER 40 to agree (which I am). No one over 40, married for any length of time could not relate to some part of this move. LOVE Paul Rudd and the kids are super cute.

    Sad :(

Disappointed in this movie. The previews were great, but when we went to see it, I almost fell asleep. I love movies and this one needed some help.

    VERY disappointed

My boyfriend and I were very excited to see this movie and were so let down. It was not at all what we expected! We were waiting for a fun light hearted romantic comedy and all it was was parents and kids fighting and yelling the whole time. The story was long and drawn out and in the end there was no resolution. If you really want to see it....wait for dvd....dont waste your money.... :-(

    FUNNNNYYYY

I laughed so hard at time I had tears running down my face. It is a great Married Couple movie. Make it a date night and you will be talking about it during the ride home.

    DEPRESSING!

    by valentt

My boyfriend and I were so disappointed with this movie we decided to write a review; we don't normally blog or write reviews, but we hope to save someone the disappointment we have after losing 2.5 hrs of a Saturday afternoon together seeing this UNFUNNY flick. We were hoping for light-hearted comedy like the preview shows; however, instead we got kids screaming at one another and swearing, adults yelling at one another, parents yelling at kids, kids yelling at parents...it was a nightmare that never got better. I envy those who walked out and saved part of their day; wish we'd have done the same. If you're looking for a depressing flick w/out a plot or any semblance of morale theme with a few "forced" comedic moments (that you've already seen on the preview), then this won't disappoint. Unfortunately, we weren't looking for it, but found it. Sad. Disappointing. We left feeling awkward and frustrated from the lack of any sort of closure or understanding behind the flick's intent.

The movie was funny because it hit so close to home but it could have used a litttle better editing it was a little long and choppy at times. But overall I gave it three out of five stars.

Could've ended after 90 minutes and they would've covered it all

This was a cute movie, definitely rings true to many couples who after a few years get stuck in a rut and need to find their chemistry again. However, I was fidgeting by the end of the movie. I couldn't wait for it to wrap up. Way too long for the plot. Melissa McCarthy is a freaking riot and be sure to stay for her outtake after the credits...even though you'll probably want to bolt as soon as they start :-)

    Hilarious!!!!

This movie was great. Lots of language if you have kids that you screen that from, but very funny. Especially for couples either dating or married.

    Disappointing

    by Bob79

There are memorable and funny scenes in this movie, to be sure. We were attracted by the trailers. But mostly, it's a chronicle of a dysfunctional family that has "potty-mouth." My wife and I, no prudes, wanted to leave the theatre at many points.

I don't believe this is the norm for American families. There are many more inspiring flicks to go see. Don't waste your time.

Terrible!! I wish I would have walked out of the theatre in the first 15 minutes... kept thinking it was going to get better.. NOT! The language was awful..my friend and I walked out of the theatre more stressed out than when we walked in... Don't waste your money.

    THIS IS 40

The movie was very well written and extremely well cast. I felt like I was watching my own life with this movie. I laughed and felt the pain of what they were going through with extended families, kids, financial matters, stressors of life and trying to keep it all together to raise the kids right. I loved it and would highly recommend it for those who are young parents. Not appropriate for 18 or younger.

    Not what I expected

Be aware that the trailer shows just about all of the humor. The rest of the movie is drawn out and depressing and lasts 2 hours and 3 minutes. I would have walked out, but I didn't want to wake up my girlfriend. Don't expect a movie anywhere on the level of Knocked Up.

    a must see

we laughed throughout the movie, we enjoyed it, a bit long so make plenty of time with all the previews and stuff, but overall, enjoyed the movie and all of the adult type jokes, not a movie to take your kids to
