    Alex Cross Just Okay!

    by soulo

I read somewhere that Tyler Perry replaced Idris Elba for the lead role. Why? Idris is ten times the actor Perry is. Maybe Idris felt the script was too weak, which I personally felt was missing something the whole way through. Don't get me wrong Perry a multi-millionaire media mogul, but he's no leading man. I'd had enough of Madea after Perry's first film in a dress and wig, but honestly I saw Madea come thru in Alex Cross (the scene when Perry is arguing with his superior officer in front of the courthouse).

I know that some people want to wear a number of hats as opposed to just doing what they do best, but I want to see Tyler Perry in a movie like I want to see Diddy in another rapper's video. I DON'T! Tyler and Diddy should both learn how to bankroll projects and stay out of the forefront. Let the actors act. Anything else behind the scenes...have at it!

Alex Cross Is Entertaining and Definitely Worth Seeing

I really enjoyed the movie. Lot's of action and a good story line--will definitely keep you engaged. Having read many of James Patterson's Alex Cross books, the movie definitely seemed authentic. Surprisingly, Tyler Perry played the roll of Alex Cross very well. I would definitely recommend the film to others.

Bad Writing, Bad Acting, Just Plain Bad

I really wanted to like this movie. Tyler Perry is a great guy and does a lot for the community, but this movie really stinks. Fortunately for Perry, his wasn't the worst acting in the movie. Matthew Fox was horrible. Of course, he could only act as good as his character was written. I've never seen so many "bad guy" cliches all wrapped up in one character.

From the moment Fox's character makes his first appearance, to the last, his character was nothing more than a caricature. Ham handed and over played would be compliments for his performance. I'd say it was human filth, but I don't want to speak ill about human filth.

Long story short, this is a must not see movie. Save your money and your time. The characters aren't developed, the writing is bad and the actors look like they know it all the way through the movie.

I was expecting much more from this movie. Having ever read the books that featured this character I went in very open to what this was suppose to be. It did not work, the characters all seemed very shallow and I did not get to know any of them. Even the bad guy was hard to believe with no development. Could have been so much more. I could have stayed home and watched Bones on Fox.

    Well Directed

I really enjoyed the way the director put this movie together and the Character that was in it. Tyler Perry worked his but off in that movie and earned the respect due him. Go see this movie.

    Mr. Perry...

Tyler Perry was very convincing as Alex Cross. The action kept me on the edge of my seat but the movie was pretty predictable. I would have liked to see a more interesting story line, and I look forward to seeing Mr. Perry in more diverse roles.

    Alex Cross Movie

My husband and I enjoyed the movie alot. I thought Tyler did a wonderful job playing a character as an educated detective something a little different than Madea. I think Tyler will be the upcoming Denzel Washington. Tyler Perry has proven he is capable of being more than just Madea although Madea is loved by many, I think Tyler's fans will embrace his mor serious roles. God Bless you Tyler.......

    Predictable and nothing special

Ok, will give Tyler Perry props for the effort. Thought the acting all around was just ok. The Perry-Burns partnership, didn't work for me, seemed 2contrived. The script itself was flawed, lazily written and i hate movies where you already basically know what's going to happen. Introducing exactly who the villain is in the first 10m of the film leaves nothing to surprise. You know that someone close to whomever is hunting him down is sure to get hurt or killed to now make the law abiding officer get axed from the force and go rogue to want to hunt him down. Where's the originality!??? And why so many scenes start off at night with the characters heading somewhere to arrive when it's day! ? What was it a 8hr car ride! And how can someone get banged up in a car crash and have puffed eye that he can't even see out of and then the next day, his face looks like it hasn't been touched!

    Cross to the Rescue!

Alex Cross is a wonderful "escape" movie. By that I mean it is excellent entertainment: Bad guy is REALLY bad, but smart & elusive. Never fear: Alex Cross is equally determined & quite the close quarters fighter as he stymies Move after move by the villan. There are great special effects, decent acting & Tyler Perry once again showed why he is one of the best actors in the business. Overall, a good movie to alleviate the daily grind of life, if only for a few hours.

    Tyler Perry Does It Again!

    by

The Alex Cross movie was an opportunity for Tyler Perry to demonstrate masterfully that, as an actor, he can act across all genres to deliver the first rate product that Tyler is famous for. His Alex was tough and decisive as the goals and objectives selected by Alex were met and exceeded in both of his long and short-range planning. As a movie, I enjoyed the explosive materials and techniques employed and their subsequent conclusions; as well as the plot and it's execution.. Great job Tyler as you display all the talents God has blessed you with.

    Good Role for Tyler Perry

I really enjoyed Alex Cross - tough for Tyler Perry to fill Morgan Freeman's shoes but he did a great job. Movie was action packed with 1 or 2 surprises/shock effect. I would highly recommend to all who enjoyed Morgan Freeman's role of Alex Cross. Tyler Perry brought something new and refreshing to the role. A good crossover for Tyler Perry out of the Madea and passive husband roles. Hope to see plenty of sequels.
