    Alex Cross

    by

It was difficult at first to take Tyler Perry, seriously, in any other role other than as Madea in comedy film. For the first 30 minutes, every move or word he said made me chuckle. Then, as I got more into the movie, the more I liked his new high action, more serious role. To me, the most high action and interesting part of the movies was watching the hit man, whom loved pain. I rate the movie a 75% or 7.5 out of 10. On the contrary, Tyler did a great job in Good Deeds. He is an excellent actor, but, just needs more practice in serious roles to get the audience used to seeing him in such a manner. Would definitely like to see more of the serious side of Tyler! I bet this movie is not worst than Paranormal Activity 4, the homemade, video-cam series........Overall, would recommend for teenagers to adult level, but not for kids.

    Alex Cross Just Okay!

    by soulo

I read somewhere that Tyler Perry replaced Idris Elba for the lead role. Why? Idris is ten times the actor Perry is. Maybe Idris felt the script was too weak, which I personally felt was missing something the whole way through. Don't get me wrong Perry a multi-millionaire media mogul, but he's no leading man. I'd had enough of Madea after Perry's first film in a dress and wig, but honestly I saw Madea come thru in Alex Cross (the scene when Perry is arguing with his superior officer in front of the courthouse).

I know that some people want to wear a number of hats as opposed to just doing what they do best, but I want to see Tyler Perry in a movie like I want to see Diddy in another rapper's video. I DON'T! Tyler and Diddy should both learn how to bankroll projects and stay out of the forefront. Let the actors act. Anything else behind the scenes...have at it!

    Ehhhhh it was ok

I thought this movie was going to be terrible. It was ok. Tyler Perry's acting was laughable at times but Matthew Fox was pretty good. I was entertained so I guess that's what really counts. I give it a 7 out of 10.

    ALEX CROSS

Good story. I had read the book, so as expected, there was a a lot of action. Acting was so and so.
Wish Morgan Freeman had done it, it would have made a difference.
I certainly wouldn't recommend it for kids. A little too violent.

    Good Movie

Went to see it last night with friends and its a pretty good movie. I'm glad to see Tyler Perry step outside of his usual role of Madea. Hopefully this will not be the last time we see him in this type of role. He was great! Matthew Fox was also great! I would recommend this movie.

    Pretty Good...

I enjoyed this movie. It is well casted and I saw a new side of Tyler Perry.

There were a couple of things that puzzled me, but I don't want to be a spoiler...

    Great movie!!!

Tyler Perry really earned our respect in this movie. He shows that he can actually act in a drama. Matthew Fox was extraordinary!! Will definitely go to another movie of his!

Good Material, Good OnScreen Talent....Not Well Produced.

This film had potential, lots in fact. Unfortunately, it doesn't live up to it largely due to some poor post production work. The amateurish editing resulted in scene selections in which the onscreen talent were unconvincing in their characters and the sound filled with problems. In other words, in some scenes the actors lose contact with the character they're playing and you see them, not the character. In other scenes, the camera work is choppy and the sound so muddled as the dialog to be unintelligible. The play is excellent, the direction of the talent not so much. All-in-all there are hundreds of movies made each year with far worse results than this one in some way or another. The difference is in most cases, they have neither the talent resources or budget to overcome their issues. No excuse here. Is it a bad movie? No. Is it worth the price of a ticket? Yes. Will you leave feeling as if you've been entertained? Depends on your threshold for video satisfaction.

    Need's Stronger Plot!!

I'm a little disapointed with the plot! The story line was weak and very predictable.I wish Tyler would have gave it a little more zing!!!

    Wait for the DVD

    by

Saw Alex Cross last night, first of all the bad guy Sinister was so bland, and during the main fight scene they tried to show it both Alex Cross and Sinisters POV which made the majority of the scene blurry and you couldn't tell what was going on and that was really the only action scene. Basically a dull movie although I will give Tyler Perry credit because prior to this I couldn't picture him as anything other than Madea let alone an action hero.

    Good ACtion Movie

Strong cast, Plenty of action and a good story. Kept me absorbed from beginning to end. A caution for some in that there is a good bit of violence.

We enjoyed this movie, but it seemed like it was missing something when they seemed not to acknowledge the death of the female detective. Lots of action and suspence. Go see this movie.

It's been a long time since I read the book so I don't remember all of the details of the book so I can't compare. I thought the movie was great. The actors did an excellent job. Can't wait for it to come out on DVD, as I want to add it to my collection to watch again.

    Entertaining Flick

Tyler Perry does a good job with the character. He CAN act outside of his normal dramedy films. The menacing character he's after is truly evil. He played the role so well you'd believe he (Matthew Fox) really IS that character on screen or off. The presence of Cicely Tyson rounds it out. Never a dull moment in the movie.

Wait till it comes out on dvd.

What is sad is that James Patterson is a producer on this movie. How could Patterson allow the filmmakers to decide Alex's best friend from the novels couldn't be a black man? What was up with camera shots? Jerky, blurry, the camera constantly moves up and down and side to side. The hand held camera worked for the movie "End of Watch" but failed miserably for Alex Cross. There were a couple of times when I thought the lady sitting behind me in the theater was going to throw up on me. I felt bad for Perry and Fox for training for months for the fight scene to have it reduced on screen as shaky, out of focus and too up close (difficult to see who is hitting who). The one good thing in the movie was Matthew Fox as "Picasso". Very Creepy. On the other hand Tyler Perry (Not saying he was awful) left something to be desired. I went in with an open mind and left feeling cheated. If you absolutely have to see Alex Cross save your money and rent it on DVD at Red Box.
