On the edge of my seat

Since I have read the whole Alex Cross series by James Patterson I wasn't sure what to expect from this movie. Could the director capture the suspense and anticipation you found with every page turn.
The answer is yes. The movie was nothing short of terrific. Waiting for each event to unravel left you on the edge of your seat. Each and every character played their part to perfection. Tyler Perry, who I was anticipating to be a failure after Morgan Freemans portrayal of Alex Cross, was amazing.
I would not hesitate to recommend this to anyone or go see it again. It is definitely worth seeing more than once.

    Alex Cross

I enjoyed the movie, it kept me on the edge, I cried and I laughed. Matthew Fox was a real mad man and Tyler Perry gave a great performance as Alex Cross.

    Little disappointed!

    by

This is going to be a GREAT movie for anyone that Has Not read the book! Tyler Perry did a great job and I really would like to see him in more Alex Cross roles! He is a wonderful actor & this proves that he can be seen other than Madea. But I was disappointed because the movie strayed so far from the book that it kinda ruined it for me.

    See with new eyes.

    by

I heard the critics tear this movie apart. Fortunately I didn't allow them to influence me or my wife from seeing this. I also read fan reviews that weren't impressed with any part of it. This made me wonder--did we see the same movie?

Many critics stated that Tyler Perry should either give up acting or if he continues to go back to wearing a dress and playing a woman. I believe that just like Robin Williams battled hard to break that "Mork" image, Tyler Perry might have this problem. I have never seen him in any of those movies so I guess that it was easier for me to enjoy his abilities without prejudice from other films.

My wife and I enjoyed this film tremendously. The acting was good, believable and the film in general was well done. If you see this movie --just see it for the action picture that it is. The wobbling effect that one critic mentioned was supposed to be a point of view situation --something like the Blair witch movie, thankfully only one scene is like this.

I Thought Was Great by T.T.

On a scale of 1 - 10, I'd definatly have to give it an 8. The movie was action packed from beginning to end. I did not see a problem with the acting or cinematography. I thought the shaking enhance the impact of the action. I also thought Tyler did a great job in the transiction from Madea to Alex Cross. But at one point I did notice Madea coming through. It was ever so slight. And not necessarily a bad thing. I thought the plot was great and Matt Fox also did a great job as villian. You should go and see it for yourself though. I don't think you will be disapointed. Worth the money. My husband loved it. Not for kids.

    What a waste of money

    by

I took a chance on this movie and I lost out. I hated this movie, and almost left the theater, but decided to stay and see it it would get better over time. It did not. This is the most fake action movie, I've ever seen, and I've see most of them, as I have a 25 year old son, who dragged me to every action movie ever made.

Tyler Perry's hubris is overwhelming. Can't he see there is more to being a believable action hero than carrying a shotgun and running too and fro trying to look tough.
An action hero usually makes you believe the story, makes you believe what is happening and makes the story real. Why didn't he use any of the many talented black actors in Hollywood, i.e.Terence Howard, Michael Ealy or Denzel Washington.
Tyler, take acting lessons or stick with Medea.
I just read, while perusing the reviews, that the great actor Idris Elba was talked about do the movie. What happened? Tyler/Madea never make that mistake again.

I don't know what I was excpecting, but it was better than I thought it would be. It was full of drama, action, and it was a bit of a thriller as well. All around (the acting, directing, and cinematography), it was a very good movie and Tyler Perry did a great job. I didn't think he could pull it off (Madea was all I envisioned), but he did!! I didn't think of Madea at all as I watched the movie.

    A GO SEE

    by GSPEED

I had a rough time at the start getting past the fact that Tyler Perry plays Madea and I was waiting for that character to jump out. After getting over that, I was able to analyze that Tyler Perry did play this role well. I will probably buy the DVD when it is released.

    Barely worth a rental

Ok. I loved the original two movies and my wife and I were looking forward to this one coming out. We figured we could get over Tyler Perry being a replacement for Freeman but it just didn't do it. Leave him to producing and directing movies, acting isn't his gig ... sorry.

Now for Matthew Fox. We liked him in the TV series Lost but he failed at the part of the villain; he completely overacted the part. He looked the part physically but trying to play a crazed psycho skinhead killer just isn't his part.

Overall it was mildly entertaining and I loved the CTS-V Coupe that Fox drove but other than that I'd recommend others to pass this in the movie theaters and only rent if they are desperate for some mild action.

I was truly surprised Morgan Freeman is a tough act to follow but Tyler Perry handled the roll quite well, story theme as always GREAT. This will be a movie I will add to my DVD collection.

    Alex Cross

I saw it last night. It was so much better than I expected. Lots of action, humor, drama, tragedy; you might even cry. Tyler Perry was outstanding as a father, husband, cop, and psychologist. Wow!! What a pleasant surprise! Not to dismiss the legendary Cecily Tyson who plays Tyler Perry's mother. It's a must see.
