    Absolutely AWFUL

My husband and I left after 40 minutes. I was ready to leave after two minutes. Nonstop profanity. Bad plot. Brad Pitt wasn't even in it for the first 20 minutes and from what I was, wasn't award worthy.

    Stay Away

This pretentious film tries too hard to copy David Mamet and Quentin Tarantino and falls flat. Poor acting from Brad Pitt and James Gandolfini stand out. Pitt simply isn't believable as a supposedly scary mob assassin and Gandolfini lumbers through his two scenes. Which brings me to ask, what was the purpose of Gandolfini's character anyway? He is in two small scenes and then disappears - which is related to another complaint - very poor character development. Not to mention that the pacing is way off - and was bored stiff.

I helped support the Weinsteins and Brad with my movie ticket purchase

So I will count it in my mind as a charitable contribution (non tax deductible) to that group, as it certainly was not earned. The script was awful. It was unnecessarily gory. The plot was pointless. The politically charged background was irritating. One good quality was the music sound track with selections from the thirties and forties, emphasizing, I suppose, the comparison of the great depression with our present recession. Whoop dee doo! This was not an intellectual commentary, just a wannabe.

    Kill Me Quick!

A BOMB!!!!!!!! Don't waste your money or time. They should have just paid all of these actors to stay home. Worse movie I have ever seen. People walked out. People were snoring. I kept waiting for something to happen but it never did. Did Hollywood go crazy? We pay to see actors act, not to have their political liberal views thrust down our throats. From now on I will research a movie before I go because I will not be the one to line these terrible actors and producer's pockets with money.

Don't waste your time or money

The political undertones to the movie were the most annoying and despite have James Gandolfini, Brad Pitt, and Ray Liotta headling the show, the acting was horrific!!

Sort of a poor mans Tarantino, but not.

What happened to Hollywood writers? Where they unavailable for this? This was the most uninteresting mobster/heist movie I've ever seen. Great actors. Great cinematography. But what about story? What about clever dialog? Not here folks.
The writing was lame. Just boring rambling in a wannabe Tarantino sort of way. Nothing new, clever or funny in the "black comedy" this was supposed to be. Pitt was good as usual as was the rest of the cast but the script was not worth the effort.
Some interesting visuals. That's about it.

Boring drawnout annoying-no action worst movie

It takes skill to make a mob movie like watching The View, its like a collection of talk shows of guys in cars talking just to pass the time. 3 action scenes in the whole thing, and most are so lame. Most of movie is filler between the few action. Brad Pitt only participates in one action and watching him keep talking is more annoying then Gardofilini(tony soprano) which doesnt do anything else. Worst movie of the year. What the heck are the broadcast of the 2008 elections and economy have to do with anything.
Try to find a great speech about andrew jackson by brad pitt at the end of the movie, elsewhere instead of the movie.

    I thought it was excellent!

I see many bad reviews on this movie. However, I would have to dispute them. I was very into the movie from the get-go. Taking into consideration, I have not been to a movie theater in the last year, I decided to see this one because it sparked my interest with the trailers on TV. It also helped that Brad Pitt (he is did an awesome job acting the part!) was in the movie, as well as Ray Liotta. I really enjoyed the movie from beginning to end. It's a good indication of what does go on in the "real world". Especially, the end when Jackie (Brad Pitt) says what he says. There's much truth to this film. It's sad to see so many people out there did not enjoy it as I did. I suppose you must open your mind with ANY movie when going to see one. They are NOT all created equal and all have different plots and creativity within. I would see this movie again and intend on purchasing it when it comes out on DVD. Hope others may see it from my perspective and give it a chance!

    Political Commentary

The whole movie was much more political than I thought it would be, and although I could care less about politics, it was very good. Amazing performances ESP. dude from Soprano, forgot his name. A lot of people are saying it ran rather slow, even the person I went with mentioned it was very slow, but I enjoyed it. You definitely have to pay attention to names and keep up. I believe only people who are serious moviegoers will enjoy this, the way only some people enjoyed There Will Be Blood and No Country for Old Men. Brad Pitt is also bad*** cool in this. Unexpected stuff happens. I enjoyed it.

    Great acting but basically boring

    by JimJabu

Here's a film with great acting and photography, but it falls flat due to the script and the deadly dull direction. Essentially the film is a series of one on one talks between various crooks - two hit men (Brad Pitt and James Gandolfini) reminisce, a hit man (Pitt) and his boss (Richard Jenkins) come to terms, two low level crims (Trevor Long and Max Casella) get high together, etc. etc. Ray Liotta and Sam Shepard are completely wasted, though you might get some pleasure watching Liotta get a beating since he usually has been on the other side. Too bad. There is some really good acting here.
