    LET DOWN

    by ccotoco

I found I did not enjoy this movie as much as I expected to. I liked the previous three Bourne movies. But I did not find this installment a compelling enough addition to the Bourne franchise. With Jason Bourne, I was hooked into the mystery of his identity, and was eager to follow his journey to arrive at the answers. With Aaron Cross, there really isn't an interesting mystery to be solved, so I didn't feel as engaged in the story. I was basically just watching the action unfold onscreen. It was a very passive viewing experience.

Shaking Writing + MIssing Matt = Disappointment

I consider myself an ultimate bourne fan. I was dubious when I heard Matt Damon would not be in the script but the writer/director was still there so I held out hope.

Plot could have worked without Jason Bourne but Gilroy made some very basic writing 101 mistakes. One, he assumed because it was allegedly a Bourne movie that we would just naturally be attached to the replacement Bourne carrying over from the other movies...wrong. The same for Rachael Weisz. We are just supposed to care about her because the alleged bad guys are after them. So he writes no scene that makes us care for either of them. Writing 101 your audience needs to care what happens to your protagonist. Watching this movie, we don't. Also in writing 101 you have to develop reasons things happen, show things developing. We don't see any of that in the relationship with our to protagonists yet suddenly they are a romantic pair at the end. There is no courtship, no sexual tension, no sex. No chemistry. No sale.

New Chapter in the Bourne series

    by

It was a bit different from the previous Bourne movies but overall it delivered. It kind of dragged some parts and left a few questions unanswered but hopefully things will progress as the franchise moves along. Wasn't to crazy about the ending but overall left the theatre very satisfied.

Not a Movie, a First Episode

This isn't really a fully self-contained movie. It's the first episode of something clearly designed to keep going for a long time. I left the theater thinking "I know what I'm going to be doing every 12 to 18 months for quite a long while".

The story and acting are decent, but the movie ends abruptly at the end of what seems like the prolog of a much, much longer story. It's not a good closure and the story is clearly just gearing up. Nothing at all is resolved. Maybe this is designed to be a trilogy - but much more likely it is designed to go on far longer than that.

Over all, intriguing but with too many unexplained bits, references to other things, other plot lines touched on but either not resolved or not even fully explored. The chase scene is too long and doesn't resolve anything. And then >-* Poof *-This isn't really a fully self-contained movie. Another win for Bourne!

Jeremy Renner makes a wonderful rogue character in Bourne Legacy. I have liked all of the previous Bourne movies and this one is definitely up to par. The mandatory chase scene truly defies belief and goes on WAY too long, but that's the only thing I can point to that bothered me. All of the characters are well cast and the action is lively and even fun in places. Great Saturday/Sunday fun!

    Good action - Unique concept

This movie was not what I was expecting. I was reading the book by the same title and did not see the same story line. Granted I was only half way through the book, but I gather that the film franchise does not necessarily follow the book franchise. I found the same thing on one of the previous book to movie titles that did not match up.

Given that, I thought he movie was very enjoyable. The concept was unique and I thought the acting was well done. The cameos from the previous movies did provide some cross connection that gave the title some meaning. I loved the snow and mountain scenery and it gave some relevance to the endurance and stamina of the enhanced operative.

If you love action and spy type movies, I would say do not miss this movie.

    The Bourne Legacy

I enjoyed the actors. I enjoyed the action. I enjoyed the sets and the scenery. It is too bad the movie was so boring. The character development depended on the previous three movies. The first half of the movie is spent setting up the technology by which the protagonist is turned into a super soldier. Actually that was fairly interesting if you like techno-babble. But the second half simply gets silly. After "the powers that be" decide Blackstone must die along with all of it's members, our hero beats up all the cops. So the CIA just so happens to have ANOTHER super soldier program that they can send in. I was waiting for Nick Fury to send in Steve Rogers next.

    GO!

So the only reason this is a "go" instead of a "must go" is because the ending was so short! When it ended I was like "it's over?" I wanted to see more. However, I like that it ended in a way that leads me to believe there will be another one. I really enjoyed this movie and will buy it on BluRay when it comes out.
Jeremy Renner is an amazing actor...I believe he is whatever character he is playing in whatever movie he's in. I loved the action and Jeremy is definitely bad ass! He did almost all of his own stunts minus a couple of the more dangerous ones on the motorcycle but even the majority of those he did as he is an avid motorcyclist.
Overall you will want to see this in the theatre as there is a lot of killer stunts and fight scenes that you won't want to miss on the big screen....

    MUST SEE THIS

This movie was thrilling and full of the action as usual! Come on who doesnt like The Bourne Collection? I must amit that I had to get use to not seeing my boy Matt Damon, but what a hell of a replacement huh Jeremy Renner is Haute and he is just as adventurous and he keeps you intrigued! Love the Movie, I must see it again.

    GREAT!

Just the scene at the LAB is already worth the ticket price... plus the action scene at the house. This movie was slow at first but it was building up to a high energy action. Renner's character is impressive, he is tough. This movie is better than Mission Impossible and better than the other Bourne movies (so happy the camera wasn't jiggling all throughout like the rest of the bourne movies). Trust me, this MOVIE is WORTH it!!!

    Good, But Next Movie ...

The movie was good. A lot of the movie is tying in to the Jason Bourne legacy. The second in the saga I feel will be off the hook. The movie is very entertaining and action packed. Go see it.

    No Jason Bourne, but Good

It's a good movie. Definitely worth watching. Jeremy Renner is good, but he's no Jason Bourne. Worth paying to see.

Doesn't feel like a Bourne movie

    by

I was anticipating this movie to be gripping because past Bourne movies were deep into plot. However, this felt just like an action movie with Bourne-related things slapped onto it. The editing of the movie is major downfall of the film. The story is not gripping and continuous enough and it started feeling draggy by the 1.25-hour mark.

    *SPOLER ALERT*
Story - There is none other than the fact that a special agent is running away along with a researcher from the government agency that employed them that is now trying to kill them. Not enough background to pull everything together coherently.

Action scenes - They were good and fast, but sometimes felt pointless, e.g., Alaska scene. The fight scenes were good. The car chase was ridiculous. It happened too close to the end and ended abruptly.

Editing - Biggest letdown! The scenes at HQ and on the ground felt like copy paste without any continuity feeling.

Overall, good acting, no-plot. A letdown of the Bourne series.
