Worst Bourne movie in the series

    by

Highly disappointed in this one! Had very high hopes, since my wife and I both LOVED the first three in the series. This one was nothing like the others, since it failed to grab my attention. Jason Bourne's character and motivation was far better than Aaron Cross! The audience is never given a chance to sympathize, empathize or connect with his motivations. The usual intrigue and humor was missing, as I was asked to connect with a character whose only pursuit was to find the chemicals that enhanced him. How can an audience connect with that? Too many vague references to super-intelligent genetic theory that nobody understood or cared about. Too many totally unnecessary, far-fetched and ridiculous stunts. Horrible performances from supporting actors Edward Norton, Scott Glenn and Stacy Keach. Quite simply I found myself constantly checking my watch, hoping it would hurry up and reach the end. (That's NEVER a GOOD THING coming from an action-movie junkie, such as myself)

Bourne Legacy a must for the fan of the first three

Jeremy Renner does a great job taking the lead role of action and suspense where Matt Damon left off.
Rachel Weisz is adorable as always and Ed Norton is always a great bad guy.
I do recommended, even though it is so painfully obvious that they plan to make more. The end seems anticlimactic.
Over all, a great movie and you won't regret seeing it.

Bourne doesn't live here any more

    by scoan

This plotless, pointless movie has nothing of Jason Bourne or Robert Ludlum's legacy in it anywhere. What a waste of talented actors Jeremy Renner and Rachel Weisz. The movie makers managed to make a motorcycle chase into a drawn-out and annoying stretch of noise. I hope this is the end of the franchise.

Great addition to the Bourne story

    by

Although a little heavy on the conspiracy connections behind "the program," Aaron Cross is an amazing addition to the Bourne story. The action sequences, the interaction between leads, the "behind the scenes" to the chase, all AMAZING. I will definitely be adding this to my collection with it comes to DVD.

    thin plot, marginal acting

    by ebert24

this movie is a mere faint reflection of the bourne trilogy.
    virtually nonexistent plot.
tired chase scenes with nothing new.
renner lacks the cold stare that made Matt Damon's Jason Bourne character.
computers /room of desk jockeys was simply a cut and paste from Bourne movie #3.
I'd give it 2 stars out of 4. It just barely made it from "no" to "so-so" rating.

    Anticlimatic

    by

My husband and I have been waiting months to see this. It was what we expected action wise but the movie was so interwoven with the previous Bourne, with overlapping time frames and talk of so much interagency stuff, that it got confusing at times. But the worst feature of this movie was the anticlimatic ending. After we walked out of the theater, we both looked at each other and said it felt like we should be on an intermission. It didn't finish well because it was too busy setting up the next Bourne movie which is surely to come. I would still go, it diffently held my attention.

    The Bourne Legacy

After all the hype there was just a tad bit of a let down. Don't get wrong, it's a great movie, awesome action sequences, it moves right along and you're not left wondering why you came. Jeremy Renner does a fantastic job as a secret assassin. It was just with all the hype put out there I kind of really expected it to be way over the top, instead of just being as good as it is. I highly recommend it as even the wife liked it.

    worthy addition to the franchise

Well crafted story with good tie-in to the previous movies. Jeremy Renner creates the next protagonist who readily wins over the audience. The visuals are stunning from the cold of Alaska to the steamy city of Manila. Rachel Weisz offers her usual skill to complement Jeremy Renner.

I want more. The movie ends with delicious possibilities for a sequel.

    The Bourne Legacy

This is definitely a movie that is geared towards the male gender. Honestly, I thought the plot was too long and that the motorcycle chase was drawn out. It felt like 20 minutes were wasted on watching the main character be chased by an enemy. There was a horrific shooting scene inside a lab that I didn't appreciate in today's times where people transfer entertainment into reality. There were some interesting points about how the military is able to do biochemical testing. There was no escape from the violence. There is a scary wolf scene. An unexpected explosion. All the violence made the made the movie unejoyable. No romance, comic relief or anything remotely fun to give your mind a break from the danger and manipulatiion. Some parts were literally DRY and BORING. Um, I give it a C.

Take Up Your Cross, Aaron Cross that is...

SPOILER ALERT: This is not a Jason Bourne movie. He is mentioned and aluded to throughout the movie, but do not go expecting to see a new actor playing your beloved Bourne.

That being said, this is a clever way to intersect a new character with an old character by using same-time storylines, overlapping as The Bourne Ultimatum is wrapping up.

Renner does a good job portraying Aaron Cross and Rachel Weisz plays off him nicely as the nerdy scientist.

Some very nicely done story-telling elements were deliberately thought out and incorporated into the film.

There are times when the plot is tough to track. The action is there as always in the Bourne series. And being challenged mentally to wrestle with politics, strategy and right versus wrong isn't a bad thing when going to a movie.

Is this on-par with the original Bourne Trilogy, probably not. It is a good film, just not as great. The Bourne Trilogy is a very high standard to have to live up to.

MATT DAMON HAS LEFT THE BUILDING.

    by JM Kane

Granted, the bar was set incredibly high by Matt Damon, but Jeremy Renner did a good job replacing a hero who is on the run, desperately trying not to get in the crosshairs.
This prequel has a well-paced script that left the door wide open for at least 2 more.
    Can't wait for the sequel!
It was suspenseful and entertaining, and yes, I highly recommend this movie!

PROS: Great acting, well-paced, Rachel Weisz

CONS: Damon has left the building. Slow start. Complex plot (TIP: make sure you've seen 'The Bourne Ultimatum' before you go see this one and realize that the two are happening at the same time or you'll be a bit confused at the beginning of the movie.)

    more story than action

I will not say Bourne legacy is a bad movie....but it was NOT as fun action movie as previous Bourne movie! I think the actors/actresses did a good job with what they got for script. I just think to be as good fun as previous Bourne movies it needed move action/asskicking!

Could have waited till DVD/blue ray came out!

Bourne 4 sets up for new franchise

Jeremy Renner brings a touch of humor to his Bourne 2.0 character Aaron Cross. The writers spoon feed you this is what and how and why, so new characters and new ideas are explained - except for why Foite goes nuts. There were times when the dialogue is so softly spoken one strains to hear -- not sure if this is the movie or our theater. As a motorcyclist, I found some of the stunts to be a trifle unbelievable because had all of these stunts occurred in real time, that bike would not have been able to remain balanced. All in all, though, a good movie, and clearly set up for Bourne 5.

    Not so much a Legacy....

    by cmelo11

IF you are going to see this movie because you loved the orginals and you think this is going to be a continuation of them, think again. And be advised you will be disappointed. However, if you go in with an open mind and realize that this is a new movie series you won't be too disappointed.
