Slow Buildup to an anticlimax, with limited intrigue (okay for an action flick, poor for Bourne)
[mild spoilers] From the beginning , both the viewer and the main character know exactly what's going on, and that's precisely the problem. There's no amnesia induced mystery; agent realizes that he's being hunted and is low on performance enhancing pills, goes to see scientist that he remembers from his checkups to get his fix, she gives a surprisingly plausible explanation of the agent's enhanced abilities (one of the high points of the movie), and they travel to manila to remove his dependency on the meds. The "chase scene" in Manila was sorely disappointing. I daresay the chase scenes in both Fast 5 and 21 Jump Street were more exciting, much less previous Bourne movies. The movie ends with the agent and his doctor adrift, with no clear direction, he knows how he was made, who made him, and has no need to contact them. The movie felt like an extended prologue to the next installment, which hopefully will include the return of the much more interesting Jason Bourne.
