Just saw it with my son

It was sweet, touching but slow. I really enjoyed Barbara-Seth was rather drab but he is playing a chemist. It really did not have enough content for a full movie and definitely not enough laughs. It would have been perfect to rent as a video.

    Go See It

If you want to see a lighthearted comedy, without the dirty jokes or a lot of explosions, go see this one. This was a great film. I thought Seth Rogen and Barbara Streisand had great chemistry in this one. There is a message being delivered here. I would highly recommend seeing this one. If you are expecting the dirty jokes and graphic scenes, u wont see it in this one. Just a good all around comedy....Go see It!!

Great movie for mom & daughter day out

This movie was so funny. My mom and I laughed until we couldn't breathe. Barbra & Seth make a great team. You feel like they are mother and son. It's not only funny but a touching story too. Good for the whole family and make sure to stay through the beginning of the credits.

    The GUilt Trip

In the beginning, I thought Barbra Streisand was annoying (don't get me wrong, I have always loved her as an actress, singer, performer, etc.), but as the movie went on, she sucked me in. I thought this was a very sweet movie. The humor was something only a mother and grown son can experience. (I say grown, cuz adult is brings up another whole thought process!!! LOL). All in all, I'd give it 4/5 stars

    Disappointed

Guess I was expecting more from Barbra Streisand. Very slow in the beginning. There were some parts that were very funny others I sat and wondered. Huh? Be sure to stay for the credits. There are some good out takes and scenes cut that happen to be some of the best part of his film. If there are other movies out there you'd rather see, by pass this one and wait until it comes on cable!

Streisand and Rogen are a knockout!

    by

A rare treat to see Streisand on the big screen and an even rarer treat to see her play such a unglamorous and relatively unsophisticated character. In The Guilt Trip Streisand puts all her Hollywood flashiness and actor tendencies away in favor of a sincere and genuine performance. The film is wonderfully charming, funny and touching.

    Funny at times, very funny

    by

The characters personalities and quirks were awesome. I could really identify with them and recognize them as people that I know in my life.

    The story was weak.
    Semi-predictable.

It's a movie for those who want to chill out and enjoy a good time. Thee is no cinematic or artistic scenes in this movie.

    I should have rented it.

    Guilt Trip

The movie had it's moments, but could have been better. It did have humor, but not "gut laughing funny" that we were looking for. We didn't think it was worth the cost of a movie ticket, for the theater, but worthy watching on Nexflix. We liked Parental Guidance far better.....and it was worth seeing on the big screen.

    A pleasant surprise.

I wasn't sure just how much I would enjoy this movie, but I was pleased with the overall acting and story line. There were times when I genuinely laughed out loud. My buddy enjoyed it as well. I would not recommend it as a family movie, but it should be appropriate for most teens.
Be sure to stay for the short clips at the end of the movie...they are REALLY funny.

    Laughed so hard

MUST MUST SEE. This movie is so real. Such a real life, real dialog movie. I went with my husband and 22 year old son. They both LOVED it. Especially my son, he kept saying, OH MY GOD, Thats you!!! see, its not just me, its every great mother out there.
Then I cried. I cried because I knew the hurt she felt, I felt that hurt and it felt real. Then I laughed again.
Please, see this movie. Two great actors. Couldnt have been better. Loved the ending, wont say why but it was great.
    Great great great.
If you cant identify with this movie, you are doing something wrong.
Not a kids movie (under 12) , they just wouldnt get it. Finally, an adult movie that is fun and doesnt involve action figures

    Overbearing and underwhelming

    by pedsarq

If you didn't grow up with a nagging, overbearing mother and would like to know what it feels like, see this movie. Otherwise, consider yourself warned that this movie is about a mother who means well, but is unbearable to be around. Well, at least her son knows that and feels sorry enough to take her on an 8-day road trip. There?s really no scene in this movie worth seeing. Even Seth Rogan, usually LOL funny, is pathetic to watch. Skip it entirely.

    Good movie!

    by WVNurse

As a mother with grown sons I understood exactly how the mother ( Barbra Streisand) felt. I laughed, but also shed a couple tears during the hotel scene when she told him exactly how she felt. Young children would not understand this movie. My husband found it very funny.
It summed up a lot of the things a mother feels. I loved the ending!

    I Relate

After a slow start the movie takes off... triggering smiles and outright laughter. Excellent script, great performances. But as a mother of two grown single sons who live far away, I must admit that much of the joy of this movie for me was that I "related" so much to the story. My daughter easily communicates her love for me, but over the years it as been different with my unmarried sons. This movie is a wry take on the complex communication problems between mothers and sons. While it is fun for everyone, it resonates particularly for single mothers who have reared an independent, loving, but sometimes confounding son.

My advice to anyone interested in "grown-up" movies that touch your heart and your funny bone: Don't miss "The Guilt Trip."

    for moms

went to see the movie with a group of friends, all moms of sons, movie theatre had mostly women of our age there. we all laughed and clapped, one of the best movies we've seen. but it's for a specific audience. you'll "get it" if you're a mom of a son or a son, not really a movie for everybody.

    The Guilt Trip

I was disappointed in the Guilt Trip. It is suppose to be a comedy and there were very few laughs. I have a neighbor that only wants to go to movies that will make her laugh. She kept saying to me during the movie, "I picked another bummer". The son character was very nerdy which took away from the movie. There were only 2 good scenes in the movie. In the western restaurant and the last scene with the daughter. In the last scene we both looked at each other an went, "Ohhhhh". It could have been a very good movie put it wasn't. Poor writing and direction. Sorry to give a bad review but don't waste your money.
