...What can I say.... I can NEVER hate on the remake of my favorite book, only APPRECIATE the hard work (it is NOT easy) portraying such a great storyline....

Aside from changing little things that didn't matter like hair, EXACT quotes, and certain scenarios...it was perfect. Because first and foremost, i loved the book because it was one of the most romantic storylines I've ever read. What made the movie for me was.. omg...Ian...him and Wanda's love, it honestly made him my favorite character in the book AND movie - just as I imagined him, believe it or not. And they did a perfect job of making sure the obvious love between Wanda and Ian didn't overshaddow the fact that Melanie and Jared were perfect together; it's not like Ian was in love with Melanie, just the soul inside her! So yeah if anything, the main characters were so good, which is of course important - especially Saoirse Ronan (Melanie/Wanda) did such a good job. So if they didn't have to cut out the "small" details that made the book such a romantic, amazing read, well, that's how you know it WOULD have been better than honestly 3/4 of these unoriginal plots I've seen in movies.

The Host

Fascinating movie. I enjoyed it. I never read the book so had no expectations or comparison measure. I took my 10-year-old granddaughter, at her request, and she enjoyed it very much.

Very good moviie

I was pleasantly surprised how well written, acted and entertaining this movie was. Everyone must go and enjoy a well produced movie with a very nice ending.

Ignore the Critics the movie is great

I never read the book so I don't have anything to compare but the movie as is was great in my opinion. It's not super spectacular. It will not win an Oscar for anything. It was very entertaining. Now it doesn't say much but the acting was vastly better than what you saw in any of the Twilight movies. These actors actually know how show emotion. If you have any sort of romantic heart you will like this movie.

Amazing!!!!!!!!

I liked the Host a lot. The cast was picked out very nicely. I would say that it is for adults and kids. It really kept to the book. Better then Twilight.

Are you joking?

After the first 5 minutes I realized that I had wasted my money. I'm embarrassed that I forced myself to stay the entire movie. This is truly one of the worst movies I've ever seen. The story line was silly. The acting was mediocre. The few special effects were barely yawn worthy.

Really, don't do this to yourself.

Go if you haven't read the book.

This movie left a lot to be desired from me as beloved fan of the book. There are VERY rare occasions when I say a book should have been split in half to make 2 movies, but this is one of those occasions. There was just TOO MUCH detail left out for this movie, and way too much stuff changed.

Went Sat to see the movie and I loved it very much, can't wait to start the book and for it to come out on DVD so I can watch it again

Awesome following of the book!

I read the host awhile ago but from what i can remember it followed the book very well. And it is not very often that I can say the movie was exactly what i pictured when i was reading! To everyone that has read the book you must go see it!!!!!!!! For people that have not read the book, you will probably just say its an ok movie

Followed the general plot of the book, but so much was missing. There was nearly no character development, and felt more like a chick-flick than the book did. It is probably okay for people who didn't read the book though. Loved the cast, I just wish they had included more of the book, though I do know they never could have included all 800 pages.

A smart movie but a good intense one with twists

No loudly bracket of machinegun bullets firing. No massive artillery barrages to harbor "Shock and Awe" to the enemy. No they sneak in and take your bodies over. The planet well ....it is not as loud as it was.
If you want a movie where the plot twists have young love on the various rocks, aliens inhabiting and using your body. It turns out that humans are a decided problem. This is a movie worth the cost.

Young cast is refreshing

On the whole, an entertaining movie. It's always enjoyable to see an original idea. I could have easily saved this one for the home rental, but glad I made an evening's entertainment out of it instead.

Enjoyed it!

As I do with many movies, I wish it were closer to the book, but over all I really liked this movie! If I wouldn't have read the book I would probably LOVE this movie! It's certainly worth seeing!

great movie

Having read this great book The Host, I was very pleased with this movie version. It was very entertaining and transcribed from book to screen very well. I highly recommend this movie whether you have read the book or not!

Great Movie!

They did a great job with the movie considering the book was 600 pages. It was done very well. Loved the futuristic clothes, buildings and cars. Loved it.
