    Meh...book was so much better!!

    by

I was really excited for this movie and walked out a little disappointed. I absolutely love the book, but the movie was not what I expected...I unfortunately saw some flaws and I don't mean story wise I mean editing wise...they could have done much better. As bad as this sounds, my sister entertained me more with her snide remarks than the movie did.

    Naturally

    by

Well, naturally, the movie was not nearly as good as the book. It did actually portray the storyline accurately, however, the very fact that Melanie/Wanderer have conflict going on with only one mind is much easier depicted in a book form and ends up sounding quite comical on the big screen. Kind of cheesy actually.

    It wasn't boring...

    by

This movie was OK. It wasn't boring. It held my interest throughout. It is a different type of alien invasion than any others, and I did like the ending. The caves they hid in and made their home in were awesome. I say GO and see it for yourself. BUT...don't expect the same feelings that "Twilight" inspired. I don't want to see this one over and over like I did the "Twiligt Saga" movies.

    I thought it was great!

    by

I am not a huge fan of Stephanie Meyers but I have read her books because you can't knock it till you've tried it right? I think The Host was a book that redeemed her. It wasn't cheesy like twilight and The Host Movie was nothing like the twilight movies. It was very suspenseful and whoever the screenwriter was, they did a superb job! Take a chance cause it's not twilight!

    The Host

    by

I can't believe this wasn't no. 1 at the box office. If you are a Stephenie Meyer fan you must see this move. I will say that the book was much better but I really liked this move.

Followed the general plot of the book, but so much was missing. There was nearly no character development, and felt more like a chick-flick than the book did. It is probably okay for people who didn't read the book though. Loved the cast, I just wish they had included more of the book, though I do know they never could have included all 800 pages.

    Loved it

The book was good but the movie (surprisingly) was better. The movie left out a lot of elements from the book but it was a really good rendition. Just like the book when u think there is still more to come, it wraps it all up real fast. The characters are not how I pictured them but as the movie moves on everything in your mind changes and they become exactly what you want. However the scenery was exactly what I had imagined. I do disagree with the scene with Kyle and the whirl pool. In the book he was knocked unconscious and the floor started to give way and Wanda risks her life to save him. That is not how it happens in the movie and there was no risk to Wanda's life. But overall a great movie. Even though they did not have a scene of Walter and his funeral or one of Jodie/Sunny. In closing DO NOT take a 2 min bathroom break when Wanda goes shopping it's only about 15mins from the end and you'll miss Wes' death and the capture of the seeker. At least that's What I think I missed.

The Host is the Most PATHETIC

movie you could ever imagine. It is such a waste of your money let alone all the hollywood gimmicks and expensive sets, etc. Whether you are a teenager or a senior or something in between, it is plain ridiculous and boring. The idea of souls transplanting sounds intriguing and appeals to those of us who are interested in the occult or who are "spiritual seekers," but this film is a total joke, a bomb, and it's a disgrace. As for the acting, it's average at best. I'[l put it this way: this movie, about souls, has no soul whatsoever.

    Didn't Read The Book

For a person who didn't read the book, I would rent this movie instead of going to see it in theaters. It's not something I would buy but, I would watch again with another friend. The timeline of the movie was different than I though it would which made it a little more intresting.

    Not the book.

My wife hated the movie because it wasn't the book. I thought the movie was okay as a sci fi & pretty good as a romance.

    Don't waste your money

I read the book 4 times! I was very excited to see it was coming to theaters but when I finally got to see it I was somewhat dissappointed. Some of the parts were pretty accurate to the book but a lot were not! I was most dissappointed in the speed with which the movie moved. It gave no time for much explanation of characters or events leaving audience who haven't read the book left with questions. Overall I would say wait til this one comes to the redbox.

    See the Movie First

The problem with most movies adapted from books is that the movie can't possible include as much detail as the book. Therefore, those who read the book first are always sorely disappointed come movie time. I didn't read the book first, so I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. This story doesn't provide any explanations about how the aliens got here or how they managed to take over the earth. It also doesn't explain why some humans could survive implantation and others couldn't. But, it does do an excellent job of presenting another take on the idea of being "of two minds." And it places both familial love and romantic love on high pedestals. The actors are fun to watch, do a good job with their parts and are very likable. The story is well paced, humorous at times and makes sense! This is a feel good movie that also has plenty of action. There was only one part that made no sense at all to me, because the actions of the characters were guaranteed to lead to the result which occurred.

    The Host - Outstanding

We really enjoyed this movie. It was not what we were expecting so we were completely surprise out how the movie played out. Thought it would be more outragious but turned out to be well played and a thought out. Would highly recommend to go and see it.

How could Stephenie Meyer let this happen to her characters and story?

    by

My 19-year-old daughter and I are BIG fans of the book. The actors chosen were spot on UNTIL we met the new Wanda at the end. Why didn't we develop the characters more fully, including the body chosen to host Wanda? And where was Sharon??? I think Meyer's fans have proven they will sit through lengthy movies if characters are strong and the storylines are true to her books. It seemed like the ending was rushed, and we weren't given a chance to really grow to like/dislike/care about anyone. The actors definitely could have been utilized better -- they were good, for what they were allowed to do. Scenery in the film was well done. Probably for those who've not read the book, the movie would be so-so. For me, it was NO.
