    Better Than the First

I liked this G.I. Joe better than the first one. I am a little biased in that Snakes it one of my favorite characters and he plays a major part in the storyline. I also liked Bruce Willis as the calm but offensive military veteran. I laughed at his responses.

If you need to kill some time, this is a good movie to do it on.

I went to see the movie this past Sunday w/ my daughter and a friend. My daughter gave me a thumbs up on the way out and I thought it was awesome! I love seeing the martial arts between Storm Shadow and Snake Eyes. All the action was so much fun to watch!

A Very Entertaining Action Movie !

This was basically what I expected based on the commercials. The humor was a pleasant surprise. There are so many great high-action sequences that I wish I'd gone to the 3D version.

    G.I. Joe Reataliation

    by appa416

From my point of view. This Movie was AWESOME lot's and lot's of action from the start. I went to see it with my family. They also loved. Just I would have like to see ChanningTatum ( Duke ) more in the movie just not the the first 10 mintues. He's my favorite actor. But all over all it was on awesome movie. It would have been really awesome, cool if the actors from the 1st G.I. Joe where in the 2nd G.I. Joe movie. But the actors now where awesome to.You must go see !!! It was Awesome, Epic. I loved it !! =)

    Great if you're 14

    by jhs39

I would have loved this movie when I was a 14 year old boy. Being a man in my 40's I found the whole thing a bit too empty-headed and attention-deficit paced for my tastes. G.I. Joe: Retaliation is all action with barely any plot and characters with about as much depth as the toys this was inspired by. The script is by team behind Zombieland. While it never comes close to achieving the highs of that film there are occasional moments of wit and humor--in fact, compared with any of the Transformers films G.I. Joe is Noel Coward. But most of the action is more kinetic than exciting. The one notable exception is an extended sequence in the Himalayas involving ninjas fighting while dangling from ropes on the side of a mountain. That one sequence made me feel like I was a 14 year old boy. The rest of the movie mostly made me feel like a 45 year old man at a kid's flick.

    Hail COBRA!!!

    by

That is what this movie should have been titled. I enjoyed G.I. Joe Rise of the Cobra because it was a great way to introduce a new audience to a beloved 80s franchise while still nodding the its existing fan base. Then we have Retaliation. i was excited to see where they would take the Joe team since the first movie was setup so well for its sequel. Then the movie starts and I start wondering what happened to the cast from the first movie. We get a 80s transformers kill spree 20 minutes into the movie leaving us with a new cast of characters. While I would have been okay with that, there was almost no character development with them. A dead dad here, a family at home there but no real substance to draw me in and feel anything for the actors. This movie really focused more on the Cobra team and gave them a bit more character. There was some nice action scenes and a bit of humor but not enough to make my top ten for this years movie list. So I would say Hail cobra and wait for DVD.

What in the world did I just watch????

    by ea1589

Yes that was my question after watching this film. It was a bit entertaining just the action parts but other than that the plot of the movie is not good and the acting is okay. I believe they could have done much better with this film if they focused on the writing and not so much on just getting out a film. If you like just plain action this film can probably be fun but if not then save your money for something else.

'GI Joe Retaliation'? More like 'GI Joe Regurgitation'

Quite possible one of the worst movies I've ever seen. A lackluster script, so-so acting, and if not for the mountain scene featuring Snake Eyes, the action would be almost non-existent. The few scenes featuring Dwayne and Tatum feel forced and unfunny. Just when you don't think the movie can be any worst, we're introduced to the Rza's character. Can you say MISCAST? I may be one of the few people who actually thought the 1st 'Joe' movie was a lot better. A LOT. At least the 1st installment had back stories for each character. This time around, you have no idea who's who and therefore never gain a real connection to any of the characters. This was screenwriting and directing 101 on how NOT to make an action movie...or any movie for that matter. Directors should start taking notes from Justin Lin. It's apparent he gets IT

    Action pack

The only sad thing was when Channing was killed in the beginning of the movie but otherwise it was great. A lot of action and never a duel moment. Can't wait until the next one.

Was More Like a G.I. Joe 4 Direct to DVD Release

The entire movie started off on the wrong foot. Too much time had passed between the two stories. What were the "nano wars"? There was no tie-in to the G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra and no resolution of any of the threads left open from the end of G.I. Joe 1. What happened to Baroness? Was she cured? Where did Ripcord Scarlett, and General Hawk go? The first movie had great production values and special effects. This had nothing more than a few explosions, cheesy jokes and a thin to nonexistent story. Don't waste your money. I can't imagine how bad the movie would have been if they didn't delay the release for almost a year. Utter crap.

I give it a "B+:" it's exactly what you would expect

    I give "G.I. Joe" a grade of "B+."

It's exactly what you would expect a "movie based on a cartoon based on an action figure" to be. Very high-octane action, with a "Mission Impossible" like story line (elite unit accused of treason must clear its name and save the country.) If you like pure "bubble gum" fare of high tech gadgets, explosions, and martial arts - this is or you.

It could have been SO much better

Instead of spending so much time on 3D conversions, let's hope Paramount puts more effort into the script next time (and you can be sure there will be another one after this weekend's boxoffice haul.)

The actors are ok, considering what they had to work with. Dwayne Johnson is always fun to watch and Bruce Willis adds his trademark smirk -- but the storyline is awful and the dialogue appalling. And the worst part is at the end when a preceding tragedy isn't even mentioned! I realize these films are based on a line of toys, but once you're asking an audience to pay good money and give up two hours of their lives to see a movie, the creative people behind the scenes can and should do better!!
