    The Dictator

I love Sacha Baron Cohen movies. I was a little disappointed in this movie because it reminded me of that terrible movie "Dont Mess With Zohan." Some of the stuff that they covered was hilarious and to the point. I think that this set up that they have gone through with the whole actor/actor dialog was where they went wrong. Where are the legitimate stupid Americans instead of the characters portraying stupid Americans? That is what I loved the most about Borat and Bruno. He mingled with real Americans.

    Disapointing....

    by

I was expecting so much out of this movie but turns out that more random things happen in this movie then Family Guy. Not something I will recommend to pay for at all!

    The Dictator

With the gonzo documentaries Borat and Bruno, Sacha Baron Cohen established himself as one of contemporary cinema's most merciless satirists. Now he's graduated to scripted comedy, and while The Dictator isn't as outrageous or as teeth-clenchingly funny as Borat, it's just funny and un-P.C. enough to prove that Cohen hasn't gone soft. This loose remake of Charlie Chaplin's The Great Dictator is the tale of an oppressive, buffoonish North African despot who survives a coup attempt that leaves him wandering the streets of New York City until a kindly hippie grocer takes a shine to him. Not every joke in The Dictator works, but overall, the film provides enough gleeful tastelessness and sharp political observations to satisfy Cohen's fans.

Sacha Baron Cohen's funniest movie ever

    by pdmenon

This is one of Sacha Baron Cohen's funniest movie ever, since his earlier "mockumentary" movies. This is a must watch movie! The heroic story of a dictator who risked his life to ensure that democracy would never come to the country he so lovingly oppressed.

Its really hilarious and a no brainer. This movie makes fun of many of stereotypes and the bantering of these stereotypes, and sure there are folks who will be offended by this. However, this movie may not be suitable for younger viewers as it contains strong crude and sexual content, brief male nudity, language and some violent images.

    Funny at times

I had heard that this movie was hilarious! It was....but only at certain points. I wouldn't say that this is a must go see before it comes to dvd. I actually wish that I had waited.

    Enjoyed this movie

My husband and I really enjoyed this movie. This is not the movie to go to if you expect a politically correct type of movie or you are easily offended. It pokes fun at dictators, political views, cultures, stereotypes, Hollywood stars, and countries (including middle eastern countries and the U.S.). There are some parts that are rather disgusting and of course some comments and scenes that add a bit of shock value but my husband and I found it to be great for a laugh. There is also a sweet side to this movie. Believe it or not it is sort of a love story and a story about how we change for those that we love. I do not feel that this movie is appropriate for children due to sexual content, nudity, graphic content (like a severed head), and language. I would not allow my children to watch it.

    This movie sucked big time!

The Dictator was one of the worse movies of the year. I walked out after half the movie. I went to see Battleship, not a great movie but 100 times better than Dictator.

    The Dictator

Is a clssic Sacha Baron Cohen movie. Hilarious, not as explicit as Bruno, but it had many moments of sexualized behaviors, racist comments, and just plain uncomfortable to see. Overall, it was great.

Oh so political incorrect, and oh so funny!!

LOVED it. I laughed so many times. Every race, religion, sex, culture, and taboo was insulted and poked fun at. Nothing and no one was left out from the cheap shots, however, the abuse was so evenly spread that the outcome was pure hilarious instead of offensive.
This was a hoot. Just what I needed to release some stress and laugh out loud!

    awesome

This was so funny! Plus, anytime a man is willing to give women personal part seens makes him a breath of fresh air since so much is geared to naked women. But this movie put a smile on my face a laugh through the air and my mind something to consider. Being so dead on in an entertaining way. You must see it, no, you shalt see it! Gogogo and have a great time seeing what the critics don't want you to see!

    Just okay

Portions were funny but a lot of gross humor more than even what I expected. The movie is only 1 hr 23 minutes long so it is fairly short. All in all, in hindsight I should have just waited to rent the DVD.

    The Dictator

If you like Sacha Baron Cohen, then GO!!!
His humor is quite different than the norm but that is what makes him stand apart from other comedy films. Sometimes he is on the verge of being offensive but then you realize that this is how he is. I enjoyed quite a few laughs as usual but found some of his dialogue not so funny. Go see for yourself......

    Most funny parts in trailor

I was really looking forward to The Dictator based on the commercials and Sasha Baron Cohen. While it was funny, the jokes became predictable and I didn't have the side splitting laughter I expected. I would have enjoyed it more if I had waited for the blu-ray and watched it at home with some drinks. Maybe I'll enjoy it more the next time I see it.
