    Visual Treat

The camera work in this movie is superb. The ocean scenes were magnificent! The script was sort of out there but the photography of the wildlife and ocean scenes was magnificent.

A SENSATIONAL FILM ABOUT A ZOO KEEPER'S SON SHIP-WRECKED IN THE PACIFIC OCEAN FOR 227 DAYS.

Eleven years ago I read and relished Yann Martel's irresistible, allegorical "Life of Pi"; many pivotal books gradually sink into the vast recesses of one's mind, titles fade, but in this instance Pi's journey sunk its literary teeth into a comfortable corner of my memory; took up permanent residence, and in gratitude to Ang Lee's profoundly beautiful, visual production, a substantive, realistic vibrancy emerges as the tale unfolds...

"Life of Pi" is a technological jewel: impeccable, magical cinematography (Claudio Miranda); 3-D intensely engaging, the viewer is embraced by nature's ferocity and enchantment. Underwater and celestial sequences, positively pregnant with the wizardry of man's imagination and skill...

    FIVE STARS!!!!!

    Visually Stunning, Faithful Adaptation

    by dhig

Beautiful movie. Was worried since the book is so amazing, but Ang Lee pulls it off. I saw it in 2D (my usual preference), but could see how the 3D is probably stunning given the attention to detail in the visuals. Superb acting and special effects. Wife and 10-year old daughter both loved it as well. A must see.

    beautiful affects!

This movie was great to go see with the whole family. That's really hard to do these days. Sure, parents suffer through kid's movies all the time, but trying taking your college kid, your middle-schooler, and elementary school children all to the same movie! So rare to find! We all loved it. I cried a couple of times. The cinematography was amazing!

    patience with this one

    by Friedy

This is a beautiful movie, told in a very patient way. It is visually breathtaking and you leave taking much of it with you. Even the way you look at the pet in your home will change. A bit long, but settle in and let the story unfold. I didn't rate it a "Must Go!" because it may not be for everyone. My 13 year old son and my elderly mother came along and both were impressed by the film. My son enjoyed analyzing the events in the story and what they might have meant. It definitely incites conversation.

    Life Of PI

LOP Is a "fantastic" story depicting the coming of age journey of a young Indian boy who demonstrates how strong character and belief in one's self, can help you get through the most difficult times of your life. Kudos to his parents for supporting his inquisitiveness as a growing boy. He knew he would make it through because his parents and culture planted a faith in his core being.

Fandango default most reviews to GO unless you are careful at choosing other options

Life of Pi I would rate it as good but you really need to like the slow boring type of movies.

If you are looking for action, thriller or suspense then definitely avoid this. If you think you would want to find an alternate meaning to living in the ocean, then go for it.

    Has it all

Saw this as a regular film first but wanted to see the effect 3-D would have on the beautiful scenery in the movie. In addition to the wonderful plot, story line, etc. the 3-D enhances the impact of this movie. Rarely am I moved spiritually by a movie, but the story line and cinematography are far superior to most movies. I have viewed no other film like this since a semi-recent Cameron movie. If you go and are in a distracted mood, see something else, this movie requires your full attention to move you. Do your texting later. Insightful older children and adults will appreciate this movie for its story and/or its beautiful scenes and/or the spirituality.

    Mind opening

    by jstrow

This film asks basic questions: What is perception? What is memory? The story told cinematically and the story told to the shipping company end up at the same point but are vastly different. The cinematography at several points clearly conveys the perception of the character experiencing it. Film was exactly the right medium for this story.

    Life of Pi

A powerful story, narrated in first person, as Pi reveals his amazing adventure to the story writer in a way that leaves one wondering at the end if this was a halucinatory fantasy or pure reality. This was a beautiful film that was well scripted, offering the viewer an amazing mental, visual, and spiritual experience that satisfies the soul at many levels... Go!

    Life of Pi

Beautiful in cinematic imagery; thoughtful in spiritual possibilities. Often a mystery in dealing with the relationship between nature and mankind, this story will leave you with many unanswered questions as to the movie-maker's intentions. But it's a great adventure and will leave you with any splendid visual memories.

    A eye-catching must see!

    by

Amazing Movie. It was so eye-catching and beautiful! I did not read the book, but the story of this film was phenomenal. Also, the animations, the tiger, was so life-like and looked so real. The acting, was very well done by the person who played Pi. And, the nature and sights of the sea creatures and the ocean were so beautifully done. I give it a A+++ and really recomend it to whomever is wondering about watching this movie.

Good Movie - Pretty Faithful to the book

Will have to see it again in 3D.

It is unusual to see a movie that is faithful to the book on which it was based. While some parts were removed (e.g. going blind and happening upon another castaway adrift) and some were embellished (e.g. Pi's snuggling Richard Parker), it was very well done. The floating island was almost exactly as I pictured it when I read the book.

Overall, well worth the (very expensive) price of admission.
