    An incredibly beautiful movie

I absolutely loved the story in this movie. Full of surprises and thought provoking scenes. The cinematography was literally "through the roof". There's a pool scene filmed from below the swimmers. You can see the clouds in the sky through the water and it takes on the illusion that everyone is flying. This movie is full of magical photography that fills the senses like this scene. Such and amazing adventure and very well portrayed. This movie moved me to tears toward the end. My nine year old daughter as well!

I walked out of the Theater re-thinking so many things about life. I highly recommend this show. One of the best I have seen in many years. 2 thumbs way up.

I got up and walked out.

Ok, I am a movie buff and love science fiction, great animation, a good story line, etc. However, this movie was such a bore. I got up and walked out before the end of the movie. I saw another lady leave in the first 40 minutes. Had they began the interview with PI then stuck to the movie and came back to the interview with Pi at the very end it would have been OK. But they kept cutting back and forth from the interview the Pi to the story. BLAH!

    BORING

I never read the book, so I am assuming that the adaptation was good judging by the many reviews. BUT for one who did not read the book, the movie was terrible. Long drawn out plot, random metaphors that are never revisited, too much of a religious theme, and too much CGI. There was one point where my boyfriend and I started to forget about the movie and start talking. The ending was horrible as well. I watched almost three hours of a movie that was just a ******* metaphor. Absolutely terrible. Dont waste your time.

Life Of Pi My Newest Favorite Film

One word...AWESOME!!! I was totally engaged in the story, acting and cinematography. Viewing how other societies live and endure their lives was eye opening and I believe that the sights were authentic. I would say it's the perfect movie. The ending still has me perplexed as to which to believe for I, as one, realize what humans are capable of and on the other hand do believe there are unexplainable things on this earth. Without giving away the ending I am almost angry that there was another explanation as it now puts me at unrest. Probably my new favotite of all time. For all ages though there are some emotional parts pertaining to death.

    Spectacular

    by

I had really high hopes for this movie going into it, and boy did it deliver. I highly recommend seeing Life of Pi - a beautiful and complicated story about God. We took our two daughters (9, 11) who both really liked it too. The movie provided us with a great conversation afterward on what it means to have faith, and believe in something you can't see.

    Life of Pi

I haven't read the book, but I enjoyed the movie. It was interesting and thought provoking. Spoiler alert, so don't continue if you haven't seen the movie: I really liked the part at the end that had you guessing whether Pi's story was a fantasy or not. I paid the extra $5 to see the movie in 3D, but I think it wasn't worth it as the 3D effects were just okay.

    Costly

    by hevwc

I didn't think it could be done but Lee did a great job. I just wish it hadn't cost 120 million. I don't think Pi would approve - his assessment of costly is that life is costly.

    How do they do it?

    by blcj12

Mesmerizing. Visuals great. Had to see it a second time. Wanted to see it a third time. Want DVD! Good story, although accent sometimes hard to understand. Great acting. Reminiscent of Slumdog Millionnaire acting. Great talent. Hope it's up for an award. Wish the promos had been more dynamic. Not enough people in theaters. They don't know what they are missing! Exciting adventure. Good picture into some ways of Indian life. Can't say enough good things about this movie. Photography, lighting excellent. Interesting take when the tiger was in the water looking up into the boat - looked helpless and vulnerable, like a kitten. Wish there had been an "after the movie" show about how the movie was made. Maybe on DVD. From the time the ship sank the film was breathtaking. Pi's lament at the end reminded me of Tom Hanks losing Wilbur on Castaway. Life of Pi is a treasure.

Life Of Pi Best Movie Ever!

    by

I read this book in my 10th Grade English Class and I fell in love with it, I really don't get to enjoy reading due to a very busy schedule and this was my favorite. When I heard there was going to be a movie I was excited! I pictured all the characters in my head and what they would look like. I finally watched it with my aunt and sister and I was so amazed, they a pinpoint of the book except a few small parts here and there but it was amazing. The actors looked just as I portrayed them to be. I absolutely one hundred and thirty percent loved it and recommend to watch. It is a great movie with for the whole family to enjoy. Just as I did in the book I did not understand the cannibal island filled with meerkats (My best guess was Pi was at a stage where was going to give up and die but something pushed him to continue on.)

Good movie, fair adaptaion to the book

    by jeff_

The movie stands alone as a good story. You don't have to read to book to appreciate it. It is a fair adaptation to the book, condensed to some degree, yet faithful to the story.

    Great Adventure

The movie was truly enjoyable. The script was faithful to the book. The acting was excellent and the virtual animals were very real. If you loved the book, you will love this movie (how many times can this be said of a movie). As in the book, it is a drama about surviving a disaster; several animals are killed so I would not recommend this for young children.

    Life of Pi

Beautiful in cinematic imagery; thoughtful in spiritual possibilities. Often a mystery in dealing with the relationship between nature and mankind, this story will leave you with many unanswered questions as to the movie-maker's intentions. But it's a great adventure and will leave you with any splendid visual memories.

    good

Life of PI was indeed a good movie but i would not consider it great. This movie had a tremendous amount of story and detail. The emotions that you feel in the movie are going to be what there supposed to be. The exciting parts make you excited and the sad parts or should i say part make you feel sad yet almost impressed. The only flaw this movie had was how silly it could be. In the movie they decided to call the main character pi pissing. And in another scene the tiger named Richard Parker squirts on Pi. I would say this movie is indeed worth seeing but renting would be better.

    LIFE of PI

I was disappointed in the overall content of the film. The first half (give or take) is so slow and boring that it's hard to keep watching. After the storm and the second half of the film starts, it's wonderful. If you have seen the trailers, you've seen the best there is to the film. I was so jazzed to see this one; but it did not live up to all the hype. Unless the 3-D version is sharper and clearer, the two D version seems to be fading in color and lacks that brilliant colorization that I saw in the trailers. I gave it a GO only because of the second half of the film. I should have given it a so/so; but I think it deserves to be seen.

    Life of Pi

A powerful story, narrated in first person, as Pi reveals his amazing adventure to the story writer in a way that leaves one wondering at the end if this was a halucinatory fantasy or pure reality. This was a beautiful film that was well scripted, offering the viewer an amazing mental, visual, and spiritual experience that satisfies the soul at many levels... Go!
