    Moving story

The movie starts kind of slow, life in India is mellow and easy, until it is time for the family to move to Canada and move their animals for sale in Canada. A new found love is left behind. The storm at sea changes it all. Now things are exciting, the special effects are superb and acting is great and the story line moves and you sit the edge of your set, occasionally forgetting to draw a breadth...recommend that you see this asap

    by Fedina

I wish we would have seen it in 3D.....bet it would have been worth the extra money! I love the hope that Pi shared and the understanding it doesn't matter who believes when your know the truth. The movie was very well done......may go back and see it in 3D

    Has it all

Saw this as a regular film first but wanted to see the effect 3-D would have on the beautiful scenery in the movie. In addition to the wonderful plot, story line, etc. the 3-D enhances the impact of this movie. Rarely am I moved spiritually by a movie, but the story line and cinematography are far superior to most movies. I have viewed no other film like this since a semi-recent Cameron movie. If you go and are in a distracted mood, see something else, this movie requires your full attention to move you. Do your texting later. Insightful older children and adults will appreciate this movie for its story and/or its beautiful scenes and/or the spirituality.

    Spectacular!

Impossible to imagine how this film was made. On the surface it seems simple enough, that is until you actually begin to think about it. This was an accomplished feat like none other in film making AND it shows as the viewer becomes engaged in its beauty, spirited adventure and breathtaking fantasy! If you miss this one on the big screen you?ve definitely missed one of the top 50 films ever made. Simply put: it's perfect. What more than a movie-goer expect for their ticket price than an incredible and unforgettable experience like none other? See it. You won't be disappointed.

    Very true to the book

    by

Anyone having read the book and enjoying that should not be disappointed by the movie. While no movie can follow a book to the letter, the Life of Pi is satisfyingly close. The actions of the tiger on the boat by in large were very well done and not cartoonish as some computer graphics tend to be. This is well worth seeing on the big screen.

    Must like Indie Movies

    by p_warb

While the filming is great, the movie is overacted and full of psychological fantasy. If you're into deep thinking end twists then this may be a thought provoking film, but if you haven't read the book the progress of the story is too slow and unbelievable until the end when it becomes clear that this is a trip into escapism for the main character. It just took too long to develop and I checked out. It does follow the book, so if you liked the book this film will give you an enjoyable visual. The 10-year old behind me and his brother rated it "no more than a 5 out of 10." You need to pay attention to all of the early symbolisms and action to get it at the end. Entertaining for the true literary types only.

    Life of Pi

The accents were difficult to understand at times, but if you listen closely you can understand it. The movie was beautiful. A sweet and yet sad story. I would recommend it.

Not as good as I thought it would be but good

    by Katen22

Beautiful picture, but the story line wasn't as good as I had hoped. I don't recommend taking anyone under the age of 11 or 12...due to a few of the graphic animal scenes and they might just be bored. Wait for Redbox it'll be gorgeous in HD

    I liked it :-D

I loved this flick. Even after reading other reviews saying that it isn't for young children, I brought my 6year old daughter. She was bored and got lost in the symbolism and stories wthin a story layout, but i think the visual effects sprinkled throughout helped keep her attention on the movie. I, on the otherhand, enjoyed every minute of it. Definately worth watching - but may want to leave the kids at home for this one. :-)

    Great movie

    by vstilt

Visually beautiful, a lot of heart and a great movie overall. But a lot of it takes place in the middle of the ocean so I highly recommend not getting that gigantic soda or at least making a bathroom trip before you go to the bathroom....

    Life of Pi

Enjoyed it very much. Loved the production of the movie. Loved the story. Certainly a story all about anyone's life The nice thing about this movie is that it is for children and adults. The children will love the animals, nature, colors, amazing. And the adults can glean a lot of wonderful thoughtful ideas.

    Life of PI

What a movie!! I did not get to see it in 3D; although I don't know if I would have been able to watch it in that format. It was a fantastic movie....the special effects captured even dullest of eyed imaginations and left you feeling that you had experienced exactly what PI was going through. However, more than the special effects the writing was sharp and it held you captive while stirring your spiritual self. One of the most profound lines in the movie was at the end of the movie....When the grown up PI said " As it is with God; which story do you believe?". Great Piece of Work!. It wasn't sad...it was a story of strength....doubt....and faith. And without the suspension of disbelief the movie would have collapsed simular to that of organized religion. It's a most see.

    Richard Parker for President!!

Beautiful movie, even better the second time! 3D a must. It's not that sickening 3D where you feel like you're in a 3 ring circus and everything is coming at you. This is actually a rather soothing 3D. (except when Richard Parker is coming at you!) A definite must go.
