    Faithful to the book

The book is one of my favorites and I was pleased with its translation to the screen. My daughter hadn't read the book and also liked the movie. There's a fair amount of religious discussion, but I never found it preachy or even out of proportion to the basic themes of spirituality and faith. It's a "heavy" movie, so avoid if you're looking for something mindless, but it also has plenty of action and effects to keep the pace exciting.

    Life of Pi

    by Benjy62

Very interesting and touching movie. One of the few that I think should probably be seen in 3D even though I am not a huge fan of 3D movies. The ending is pretty mysterious and I almost wish it were simpler. NOT a movie for little kids though which I wish they made a little clearer in the ads.

    Castaway-like

Beautiful imagery, amazing art direction, brilliant digital work. The story felt a lot like "Castaway", though: a long, arduous journey without much of an ending. Somewhat disappointing in that regard.

    Pretty Boring

    by micah68

I like cerebral movies but this one was too long - clocking in at 2 hours and 5 minutes. We saw it in 3-D so it made some of the scenes absolutely beautiful ant the actor who played the young Pi did a pretty good job of carrying the movie but it still was just monotonous. I kept waiting for it to end but it didn't.

    Pretty much follows the book

    by mslanak

And of course liked the book better but the movie brought to life a vividness of imagery and pictures my mind would have never thought of. don't recall all that much talk of God though???

    Life of Pi

I liked this movie very much! The special effects were great .........make sure you see it in 3D and get the full effect. I don't think it is a movie for kids under 10. Some of the scenes are scarey and could be upsetting.

    Life of Pi is Amazing!

    by Lynise

What a ride!! I thoroughly enjoyed everything about this movie. Ang Lee has directed yet another Masterpiece and, as usual, has incorporated his genius with the amazing talents of a remarkable cast of characters! This fantastic story, told through incredible cinematography, is a study in the complex interactions between humans, animals, and mammals...in desperate circumstances. Totally entertaining. True to the book. This is MUST SEE for the whole family. Yes, go see it. Go NOW!

    Life of PI

I would recommend this to anyone who loves a good story. If you
have attention deficit syndrome, go see another. This takes Focus
but grabs you after your patience and won't let go! What an amazing story!
The actors were engaging and the scenes with the tiger on the ocean are
unforgettable! I will certainly go see it again.

    Cinemgraphic magic

When the book came out, I chose not to read it - but when the movie came out I was swayed by the reviews and the trailer. Life of Pi the Movie is visually rich, with a compelling story about survival and the human spirit. Which story we choose to believe says much about us, i think. Ultimately, I found the story disquieting and thought provoking - not necessarily bad things.

    Riveting and Stunning

    by slehan

Glad I didn't buy popcorn because the movie is so enthralling that I wouldn't have eaten any. Keeps you on the edge of your seat and is so beautiful to look at.

    Life of Pi

An amazingly beautiful movie! Ang Lee's vision has a remarkable depth. I was VERY surprised to see children in the theater. Unless you have an emotionally mature child, this is NOT a movie for children, despite the 3D version. Wonderfully acted by all the Pis, young and older.

What a triumph this movie is! I loved every bit of it and found that I thought about it for days. The question at the end of the film says a lot about us as a society.

    Life of Pi

Exellent movie. Life of Pi is not about growing up in a zoo. It's about growing up. Beautifully filmed, artfully directed, well-cast. Go, but take tissues. And reconsider taking the kids unless they're at least teenagers. There are many tough life lessons that are graphically depicted.
