    Life of Pi

Beautiful in cinematic imagery; thoughtful in spiritual possibilities. Often a mystery in dealing with the relationship between nature and mankind, this story will leave you with many unanswered questions as to the movie-maker's intentions. But it's a great adventure and will leave you with any splendid visual memories.

This was an amazing movie! The cinematography was beyond belief. The acting was wonderful. I was totally enthralled with the story and am very anxious to see it again. Didn't see the 3D version, but will next time. It was a movie that will carry you away while you're watching it, but it has a deep message that prompts a lot of thought afterward. Nonetheless, it left me with a warm and satisfied feeling. This is one you do not want to miss!!! Will be one of my all time favorites. Want to buy it as soon as its available.

    Beauty and Substance

This movie as fantastical and beautiful as it was had a deeper more meaningful undertone that truly fueled the film. The directing, acting and music worked in perfect harmony to transport you on a true visual journey especially when in 3D you simply get lost in it. What is truly amazing for the viewer that hasn't read the book and has no idea what to expect other than visually stunning scenes; is a journey that is almost less about survival and more about the human visceral connection between everything in our universe both real and imagined, animal and non-living, logical and spiritual. If you're not left wondering in some way or in awe, you must not have seen the same movie as I did.

    Moving story

The movie starts kind of slow, life in India is mellow and easy, until it is time for the family to move to Canada and move their animals for sale in Canada. A new found love is left behind. The storm at sea changes it all. Now things are exciting, the special effects are superb and acting is great and the story line moves and you sit the edge of your set, occasionally forgetting to draw a breadth...recommend that you see this asap

    Life of Pi

Was a big fan of the book, and couldn't imagine anyone adapting it to the screen. But Ang Lee did a superb job! The most beautiful cinematography ever, and not spoiled by 3D. See it even if you've never read the book.

    LIFE of PI

I was disappointed in the overall content of the film. The first half (give or take) is so slow and boring that it's hard to keep watching. After the storm and the second half of the film starts, it's wonderful. If you have seen the trailers, you've seen the best there is to the film. I was so jazzed to see this one; but it did not live up to all the hype. Unless the 3-D version is sharper and clearer, the two D version seems to be fading in color and lacks that brilliant colorization that I saw in the trailers. I gave it a GO only because of the second half of the film. I should have given it a so/so; but I think it deserves to be seen.

Good movie to watch if you are on something....

I went in here thinking this would be a good movie, well I'll say it was not my kind of movie. Others may like it, but not so much me. I don't know what to say about it. It wasn't a waste but was a waste as well. So, I put my rating as SO-SO or OK.

    Life Of Pi

What an enchanting movie. I happen to be a cat lover. This imaginative tale of a young boy ship wrecked with a Bengal Tiger, tugged at my heart strings. It was full of the unexpected. Yes I laughed, I cried, and was filled with awe.
I totally enjoyed the film and the story line. It deserves all the Oscar accolades.

Life Of Pi Best Movie Ever!

    by

I read this book in my 10th Grade English Class and I fell in love with it, I really don't get to enjoy reading due to a very busy schedule and this was my favorite. When I heard there was going to be a movie I was excited! I pictured all the characters in my head and what they would look like. I finally watched it with my aunt and sister and I was so amazed, they a pinpoint of the book except a few small parts here and there but it was amazing. The actors looked just as I portrayed them to be. I absolutely one hundred and thirty percent loved it and recommend to watch. It is a great movie with for the whole family to enjoy. Just as I did in the book I did not understand the cannibal island filled with meerkats (My best guess was Pi was at a stage where was going to give up and die but something pushed him to continue on.)

Pi is a movie worth seeing

    by cmehner

We enjoyed the excellent cinematography and unique story. The young Pi captured our hearts and imagination. It was nice to see a thought provoking show without the language or sex that so often prevails. We are both spiritual people and it is always refreshing when faith and religious beliefs are presented as part of the normal human experience without being exploited or ridiculed.

    Must like Indie Movies

    by p_warb

While the filming is great, the movie is overacted and full of psychological fantasy. If you're into deep thinking end twists then this may be a thought provoking film, but if you haven't read the book the progress of the story is too slow and unbelievable until the end when it becomes clear that this is a trip into escapism for the main character. It just took too long to develop and I checked out. It does follow the book, so if you liked the book this film will give you an enjoyable visual. The 10-year old behind me and his brother rated it "no more than a 5 out of 10." You need to pay attention to all of the early symbolisms and action to get it at the end. Entertaining for the true literary types only.

    Amazing story, beautiful movie!

    by syncloc

One of my favorite books, I couldn't have imagined how one could capture the breadth of the imagery and the depth of emotion. Ang Lee did an incredible job of capturing both! The screenplay adaptation, casting, special effects and cinematography stellar! Bound to capture several Oscar noms! Perhaps too complex for very young children (my opinion)

Fandango default most reviews to GO unless you are careful at choosing other options

Life of Pi I would rate it as good but you really need to like the slow boring type of movies.

If you are looking for action, thriller or suspense then definitely avoid this. If you think you would want to find an alternate meaning to living in the ocean, then go for it.

Good Movie - Pretty Faithful to the book

Will have to see it again in 3D.

It is unusual to see a movie that is faithful to the book on which it was based. While some parts were removed (e.g. going blind and happening upon another castaway adrift) and some were embellished (e.g. Pi's snuggling Richard Parker), it was very well done. The floating island was almost exactly as I pictured it when I read the book.

Overall, well worth the (very expensive) price of admission.
