    Thoughtful and Thoughtful

I enjoyed this movie because it wasn't straightforward. And, if you don't get the hidden meaning during the movie, the Pi character explains it at the end. Beautifully shot, exquisite color, and lots of tense moments. Pi had a mountain to climb in his young life, as many of us do as well, and we always wonder how we will perform when extreme testing comes our way. Young Pi paid a dear price, due to the sheer hardness of his testing. It made me re-think how important it is to be ready when hard times come. The secret is to be able to think in the face of sheer terror--far easier said than done.

    LINDA

I agree completely with former reviewer, "edithpiaf" & "uberfan". Excellent movie. I LOVE LOVE LOVE animals, especially big cats so, of course, I cried when animals were killed, laughed when animals were in the picture, & cringed! Yes, it WAS a little slow at first, but as previously stated, this is necessary for the storyline/plot. There was beautiful scenery to see while getting the background story! I, too, stayed awake during the night thinking of the different meanings from the film & how one could compare the animals on the boat to the possible actual people! I now want to read the book!

    beautiful affects!

This movie was great to go see with the whole family. That's really hard to do these days. Sure, parents suffer through kid's movies all the time, but trying taking your college kid, your middle-schooler, and elementary school children all to the same movie! So rare to find! We all loved it. I cried a couple of times. The cinematography was amazing!

A Delicious piece of cinematic Pi

This was a beautiful film, well acted and one of my favorite movies of the year. The story centers around Pi, a young man who is lost at sea after the ship he and his family are sinks on the way to Canada. The young man is pushed to his limits trying to survive the ordeal.

Suraj Sharma is charming as Pi and Ang Lee does an amazing job as director. This one will defintely be a blu ray buy for me once its released. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

If you loved the book, you will not be disappointed.

    by

If there is a wrong note or a misstep in this film, I certainly did not notice it. The script kept true to the book, while the special effects and cinematography brought this incredible story to life with stunning beauty, which is no small feat given the nature of the story. Fantastical elements run seamlessly along side the real, but it is the creation of the tiger is perhaps one of the greatest achievements in film to date. It is impossible to tell when the tiger on screen is an actual tiger or a digitally-created image.

Given the artistic talents of the special effects team, this movie could have felt like one long showcase of digital images, but there is somehow a beautiful simplicity to the film. Everything serves to tell the story. The result is a completely satisfying movie experience. I would recommend seeing this one on the big screen in order to fully immerse yourself in the wonder of the world created by Ang Lee.

    Life Of PI

LOP Is a "fantastic" story depicting the coming of age journey of a young Indian boy who demonstrates how strong character and belief in one's self, can help you get through the most difficult times of your life. Kudos to his parents for supporting his inquisitiveness as a growing boy. He knew he would make it through because his parents and culture planted a faith in his core being.

    Life of Pi

What an amazing way to tell a story! The scenery, acting and cinematography alone are wonderful, but the movie's message is even better. So glad to see a movie of this caliber receive so much public accliam. Must See / Must Own!

    The Life Of PI

I took my son to see the movie who is 9 years old. I thought it would be a little slow for him.
maybe a little hard for him to understand. But he loved the movie.

I had no idea what this movie was about when I went to go see it. I was totally confused and bored though a lot of the movie.

A SENSATIONAL FILM ABOUT A ZOO KEEPER'S SON SHIP-WRECKED IN THE PACIFIC OCEAN FOR 227 DAYS.

Eleven years ago I read and relished Yann Martel's irresistible, allegorical "Life of Pi"; many pivotal books gradually sink into the vast recesses of one's mind, titles fade, but in this instance Pi's journey sunk its literary teeth into a comfortable corner of my memory; took up permanent residence, and in gratitude to Ang Lee's profoundly beautiful, visual production, a substantive, realistic vibrancy emerges as the tale unfolds...

"Life of Pi" is a technological jewel: impeccable, magical cinematography (Claudio Miranda); 3-D intensely engaging, the viewer is embraced by nature's ferocity and enchantment. Underwater and celestial sequences, positively pregnant with the wizardry of man's imagination and skill...

    FIVE STARS!!!!!

    patience with this one

    by Friedy

This is a beautiful movie, told in a very patient way. It is visually breathtaking and you leave taking much of it with you. Even the way you look at the pet in your home will change. A bit long, but settle in and let the story unfold. I didn't rate it a "Must Go!" because it may not be for everyone. My 13 year old son and my elderly mother came along and both were impressed by the film. My son enjoyed analyzing the events in the story and what they might have meant. It definitely incites conversation.

    Visually Stunning, Faithful Adaptation

    by dhig

Beautiful movie. Was worried since the book is so amazing, but Ang Lee pulls it off. I saw it in 2D (my usual preference), but could see how the 3D is probably stunning given the attention to detail in the visuals. Superb acting and special effects. Wife and 10-year old daughter both loved it as well. A must see.

    Life of PI

Cinematography and visuals were wonderful. Great example of patience, understanding, courage, and determination. Location and effects were great. Young kids no, but teens need to think about this kind of challenge and could they do it. Too many today would give up, not enough instant rewards and gratification. Great message and story here.
