    LINDA

I agree completely with former reviewer, "edithpiaf" & "uberfan". Excellent movie. I LOVE LOVE LOVE animals, especially big cats so, of course, I cried when animals were killed, laughed when animals were in the picture, & cringed! Yes, it WAS a little slow at first, but as previously stated, this is necessary for the storyline/plot. There was beautiful scenery to see while getting the background story! I, too, stayed awake during the night thinking of the different meanings from the film & how one could compare the animals on the boat to the possible actual people! I now want to read the book!

    Had A Very Deep Message

This movie was amazing, but very slow plot development. With the sub-plot in the background (the "interview"), the main story of the shipwreck was slow. It slowly gained speed and captured the attention of the viewer as time wore on. As Pi and his feline companion continue their journey to get home there are many discrepancies and the end is a general bore. *SPOILER* It is never confirmed whether Pi's original story is fact or a lie all along. *SPOILER ENDS*

In conclusion, great plot line, good message, not for children under 10, good cinematography, good acting, but SLOW plot progress.

Fascinating, but not our 'cup of tea'

    by

It was clear the movie was well directed and the cinematography was outstanding. Good spiritual/moral lessons also. However, for us, the story line wasn't outstanding and his time at sea seemed endless.

    Life of Pi

I haven't read the book, but I enjoyed the movie. It was interesting and thought provoking. Spoiler alert, so don't continue if you haven't seen the movie: I really liked the part at the end that had you guessing whether Pi's story was a fantasy or not. I paid the extra $5 to see the movie in 3D, but I think it wasn't worth it as the 3D effects were just okay.

    Moving story

The movie starts kind of slow, life in India is mellow and easy, until it is time for the family to move to Canada and move their animals for sale in Canada. A new found love is left behind. The storm at sea changes it all. Now things are exciting, the special effects are superb and acting is great and the story line moves and you sit the edge of your set, occasionally forgetting to draw a breadth...recommend that you see this asap

    stunning and thought provoking

    by

This was a gorgeous movie and did justice to the book--although the book explored Pi's inner life a bit more. Definitely see it in 3D--it's the kind of movie 3D was made for!! The storyline is fantastic and very gripping, but also spiritually deep. Parents, be careful -- this is a movie that young people may find scary. Several parents carted their kids out, most of them looked under 10. I think this is a movie to see with friends so you can talk about it afterward. It's an amazing experience.

What a great movie! I was so enthralled and captivated. What a journey. I laughed and cried.Altho I did not see it in 3-D(due to medical reasons) The cinematography was fantastic. If you can see it in 3-D you must.I feel it is not for kids under 12.You will not be disappointed.

    Life of Pi

Enjoyed it very much. Loved the production of the movie. Loved the story. Certainly a story all about anyone's life The nice thing about this movie is that it is for children and adults. The children will love the animals, nature, colors, amazing. And the adults can glean a lot of wonderful thoughtful ideas.

    great visualization of the book

Too bad the alternative story didn't get acted out. since they already had the characters hinted earlier in the movie. which was a nice touch, that the book did not have.Since it's frictional, I don't really care about what the message on God was. You could totally make up a different story that God doesn't exist neither, so that's a moot point. It is the imagination, and visualization of the wonder of nature (land animals, sea creatures...etc) that's convincing, because they can really look that amazingly otherworldly. The movie also did a wonderful job in architecture and the ambience, i'd say even better than the book.

    Life of Pi

I enjoyed this movie with my husband, and 2 sons ages 13 and 9. The 13 year old was very engaged in the movie as soon as it started. My 9 year old had a harder time with some of the scenes on the boat. The fight for life was a little more than he was prepared for but he enjoyed the movie as a whole as well. I have not read the book but I am going to be looking for it very soon.

I loved his spiritual journey through the book and the ending was awesome!

Life Of Pi Best Movie Ever!

    by

I read this book in my 10th Grade English Class and I fell in love with it, I really don't get to enjoy reading due to a very busy schedule and this was my favorite. When I heard there was going to be a movie I was excited! I pictured all the characters in my head and what they would look like. I finally watched it with my aunt and sister and I was so amazed, they a pinpoint of the book except a few small parts here and there but it was amazing. The actors looked just as I portrayed them to be. I absolutely one hundred and thirty percent loved it and recommend to watch. It is a great movie with for the whole family to enjoy. Just as I did in the book I did not understand the cannibal island filled with meerkats (My best guess was Pi was at a stage where was going to give up and die but something pushed him to continue on.)

Good movie to watch if you are on something....

I went in here thinking this would be a good movie, well I'll say it was not my kind of movie. Others may like it, but not so much me. I don't know what to say about it. It wasn't a waste but was a waste as well. So, I put my rating as SO-SO or OK.

This movie did the film justice. It was so beautiful! ... I wish they showed the part in the book when he showed the interviewers that bananas did float.. STILL AMAZING NEVERTHELESS.
