    Life of Pi

I absolutely loved this film! The cinematography was amazing and the story was subtle and surprising, with something for everyone in the family. This is what story telling is all about. I was captivated throughout.

Excellent - and faithful to the book

Very good. Visually stunning. I read the book a few years ago and the screenplay ended up faithfully replicating the book. Probably one of the best movies of the year.

Life of Pi beautiful but not for younger children

Ang Lee's Life of Pi is a beautiful, thought-provoking film with some images that will transport you to another world. It really is lovely, and would be even better in 3D. However, I took my grandsons, ages 11 and 8. The 11-year-old enjoyed it and probably got a lot out of the spiritual nature of the dialogue and story. But it was way over the head of the 8 year-old. I think he may have enjoyed some of the animal and ocean scenes but there is a lot of dialogue in the first third to half of the film and it was really difficult for him to sit through it all.

    I had to leave

    by nwlaura

The violent nature and the loud violent noises made me leave. Sorry, I couldn't watch it though it looked like a good story. I also got seasick and had to cover my eyes. Everyone said it was a good movie (and book).

    NOT a movie for kids

For adults this movie was good. The problem is that it's marked and rated so that families can take their children. This movie and I quote from a 9 year old is "SO very sad." Don't take your kids regardless of the rating. I rated the movie so-so because of the experience of the kids. For adults a go would be fine.

    Life of Pi

An amazingly beautiful movie! Ang Lee's vision has a remarkable depth. I was VERY surprised to see children in the theater. Unless you have an emotionally mature child, this is NOT a movie for children, despite the 3D version. Wonderfully acted by all the Pis, young and older.

    Life of PI

    by

I enjoyed the Ocean shots. The story was good but not something I would have to see in 3D or even go to the theater for. The actors did a good job as well.

    Life of PI

I would recommend this to anyone who loves a good story. If you
have attention deficit syndrome, go see another. This takes Focus
but grabs you after your patience and won't let go! What an amazing story!
The actors were engaging and the scenes with the tiger on the ocean are
unforgettable! I will certainly go see it again.

Life of Pi ... a glorified made-for-TV movie

    by arhbhh

On the upside I applaud narrative filmmaking, the contemplative nature of the story, and the theatrical performances by the actors across-the-board. That said, Life of Pi is essentially a glorified made-for-TV movie. Considering the ticket prices ($32), snacks ($17) and transportation costs it's just not worth the trip to the theatre. I strongly encourage one to wait for the DVD and watch the movie in the comfort of one's own home. Tony

    Incredible movie, a must see

Great story, suspense! CGI was awesome as well as the special effectst
We did not see it in 3D, but you will probably enjoy it more with the colors and details.
The animals were life like. You felt for the the boy and his family, but also understood the animals
Don't miss it and bring some tissue!

    Life of Pi

I read the book and I loved it. I always try to watch the movies based on books to compare the vision with the literature. Once again the literature wins out. Not that the movie was bad, it wasn't, it was actually pretty good, they got the main points and added some little things here and there. If you didn't read the book you may not have much interest in the story although it's a very good story and will touch your heart. Read the book and then go watch the movie or do it the other way around. Either way you'll enjoy this one.

    Very Good Movie!

    by

I was quite impressed with the acting -- particularly in light of the fact that the main actor was acting for the first time!

I also enjoyed the scenes in India as I had not realized what a beautiful country India can be.

    A thinking movie

When all is said and done, do you believe in God and miracles? Long movie, loved the message. Was it really a tiger? Hmmmmm, leaves you thinking. CLEAN! YAY!!!!!

This movie did the film justice. It was so beautiful! ... I wish they showed the part in the book when he showed the interviewers that bananas did float.. STILL AMAZING NEVERTHELESS.
