Moved me to tears with its depth and tenderness

Eager to read the book now that I've seen the movie. The boy who becomes lost at sea is an amazing actor. The movie pulled me in, never even had a good time to run off to the lady's room for a pee break, because it was too engrossing! The close-up cinematography was breath-taking, the kindness the child showed his animal companions, a fascinating story that the boy tells of his being shipwrecked. It seemed straight forward until after he is rescued when he tells two different versions of his experience. I questioned everything I'd witnessed up to that point, at first it was an annoying side event, but as the ending unfolds, you begin to understand the reason for this part; it forces us to ask the big questions of what really happened and how indeed did the boy survive to grow up into such a kind adult man with family and children of his own. Touches lovingly on spirituality and religion and how we choose what we believe about God in all of life's experiences, good and bad.

    Beautifully Depicted

If you love adventures and great stories accompanied by rich culture then this movie is for you. The acting was flawless as every emotion was portrayed precisely. The movie has endless scenes of beauty and action. The visual effects were amazing. The movie overall has so much texture and it should be nominated for many Oscars. You will not be bored watching this movie.

    A eye-catching must see!

    by

Amazing Movie. It was so eye-catching and beautiful! I did not read the book, but the story of this film was phenomenal. Also, the animations, the tiger, was so life-like and looked so real. The acting, was very well done by the person who played Pi. And, the nature and sights of the sea creatures and the ocean were so beautifully done. I give it a A+++ and really recomend it to whomever is wondering about watching this movie.

What a great movie! I was so enthralled and captivated. What a journey. I laughed and cried.Altho I did not see it in 3-D(due to medical reasons) The cinematography was fantastic. If you can see it in 3-D you must.I feel it is not for kids under 12.You will not be disappointed.

Very interesting and touching movie. One of the few that I think should probably be seen in 3D even though I am not a huge fan of 3D movies. The ending is pretty mysterious and I almost wish it were simpler. NOT a movie for little kids though which I wish they made a little clearer in the ads.

Went to see the movie with my husband and friends who had read the book. Their comments were that the film was true to the book. Movie effects were so well done.!

    Mind opening

    by jstrow

This film asks basic questions: What is perception? What is memory? The story told cinematically and the story told to the shipping company end up at the same point but are vastly different. The cinematography at several points clearly conveys the perception of the character experiencing it. Film was exactly the right medium for this story.

    Brilliant

I was worried the movie would ruin one of my favorite books, but "Life of Pi" turned out to be the best movie I've seen since I can't remember when. Everyone in my family loved it, from the teenage boy and girl to the college students and Mom and Dad. Beautiful cinematography, brilliant script, and an exciting story you can't stop thinking about. Everyone keeps saying, "I want to see that again!"

We'll definitely be buying this one when it comes out.

    Life Of Pi

What an enchanting movie. I happen to be a cat lover. This imaginative tale of a young boy ship wrecked with a Bengal Tiger, tugged at my heart strings. It was full of the unexpected. Yes I laughed, I cried, and was filled with awe.
I totally enjoyed the film and the story line. It deserves all the Oscar accolades.

    great visualization of the book

Too bad the alternative story didn't get acted out. since they already had the characters hinted earlier in the movie. which was a nice touch, that the book did not have.Since it's frictional, I don't really care about what the message on God was. You could totally make up a different story that God doesn't exist neither, so that's a moot point. It is the imagination, and visualization of the wonder of nature (land animals, sea creatures...etc) that's convincing, because they can really look that amazingly otherworldly. The movie also did a wonderful job in architecture and the ambience, i'd say even better than the book.

master storytelling - see it on the big screen!

Don't find too many movies these days that must be seen on the big screen and that take you along a fantastic journey. The story drew me in, but I did not read the book first, so I only knew the basic plot. The cinematography and special effects thrilled me. The characters convinced me I was in their journey at every twist and turn evoking a broad range of emotions that kept me on the edge of my chair. Intellectual - can be. Emotional - can be. Fantastical - can be. Spiritual - can be. Award Winner - must be.

I think the advertisement for this movie is misleading as it compares it to Avatar without explaining why. That being said, I really liked the movie through the first 30 minutes or so but loved the rest of it. It is a thought provoking story with stunning graphics. It made me laugh and brought tears to my eyes. I would recommend it to anyone....just don't expect an Avatar type movie.

This was an amazing movie! The cinematography was beyond belief. The acting was wonderful. I was totally enthralled with the story and am very anxious to see it again. Didn't see the 3D version, but will next time. It was a movie that will carry you away while you're watching it, but it has a deep message that prompts a lot of thought afterward. Nonetheless, it left me with a warm and satisfied feeling. This is one you do not want to miss!!! Will be one of my all time favorites. Want to buy it as soon as its available.

Fandango default most reviews to GO unless you are careful at choosing other options

Life of Pi I would rate it as good but you really need to like the slow boring type of movies.

If you are looking for action, thriller or suspense then definitely avoid this. If you think you would want to find an alternate meaning to living in the ocean, then go for it.

    Spectacular filmmaking

I saw this film a few weeks ago, and I am still thinking about it now. Dazzling cinematography. Do spend the money to see it in 3D, as there are a few neat tricks that wouild otherwise be missed. Go see the movie also for the spiritual journey and the spiritual metaphors.
