My family (parents, grand parents, siblings and children - 14+) went to see this on Christmas Day and we loved it! This is by far my favorite Quentin Tarantino movie. Excellent story, casting, and cinematography. Since it is Quentin, I wouldn't recomend that the squeamish see this, but everyone else BUY YOUR TICKETS NOW! I would pay full price to see this one again!

    Django Unchained

A true Tarantino classic. Action packed, no expense was cut for the blood and fight scenes. Thoroughly enjoyed it. At the end, the patrons in the theatre clapped because we had all been thoroughly entertained. Must go, must see!

    Fantastic film

Not too violent but appropriately violent. Not bloated rather suspenseful. Not a "white savior" film - Django saves himself. The spaghetti western form is not dismissive of slavery; the style doesn't interfere with and even highlights the horror of the subject matter.

    Great movie

    by

It was one of my favorite movies I have seen all year. If you like a kill bill type movie in spaghetti western format it is a must see.

Not as good as I had hoped

This movie was extremely violent and pretty typical of Quentin Tarantino. I felt that the use of the "n" word was excessive and it began to annoy me. Some of the scenes were realistic about the history of slavery and made me feel sick about the representation. The best acting was Christopher Waltz. Jamie Foxx gave an average performance. If you enjoy revenge fantasies, this will not disappoint. There were some humorous moments. This is not on my list of movies to see again.

Another fun Tarantino outing - but could benefit from some editing

    by SandP

If you are a Tarantino fan, you will of course LOVE this movie. He touches all the bases - great dialog, great acting from all of the leads (SLJ steals the show!) great visuals, lots of shout-outs to classic movies and actors and of course the highly stylized violence which makes his movies fun (hopefully anyone with half a brain is not going to think this is "realistic" and molding impressionable young minds).
As much as I enjoyed the movie, it would have been much better if about 15-20 minutes had been edited out. There were several times where the movie jsut dragged and I found myself checking the time - something that I have never done during a Tarantino movie before. I understand that the uncut version of the movie is quite a bit longer - something for a DVD, where one can either take a break or FF.
    Still, a must-see for me

Best Tarantino ever, say two out of three!

Awesome performances, great plot twists, lots of action. Characters were a little cartoony and one dimensional, at times, but when they were, they were funny. So far, friends and family from ages 18 to 60 have loved it!

    Fantastic!

The use of the N-Word in Django Unchained didn't bother me as is was relevant to the times (though still vile). However, the misuse of the F-Word did bother me...I know, I know it's a Tarantino film, but this was also done in Lincoln. In the Civil War Era the F-Word was only used around brothels as a VERB...it had no other meaning.

That being said, the film was wonderful. Tarantino did a fantastic job at his first attempt at a spaghetti western, with his own Tarantino touch. Of course, you have all the over-the-top gore you have with his other films & the odd ball music that just doesn't quite match up. I just with Tarantino would stop making speaking cameos in his own films - boy does he stink!

Christoph Waltz's performance is divine and, quite frankly, he should win Best Supporting Actor.

    Bloody Fun!

All in all a good movie. As much as I like blood and gore in a movie, i have to admit i was a bit taken back by how much blood and guts this "western / slave story" movie has. The acting is great! The movie is good but be prepared to "lift one eyebrow" and say "wow, that was a lot of blood"

    Django

    by oscar1

Funny, great acting, a spaghetti western, with a few surprises. A Western which takes in pre Civil War South, where the bad guys get their due. The audience loved it and applauded at the end.

    Quintessential Tarrantino

If you love gratuitous violence and have a good laugh at the same time, you are gonna love this one.
This flic really got me emotionally involved. Good guys bad guys, original sets and scenes.
Waltz is great as a laid back mentor to Foxx.
Some parts were too long pero overall, I could not have done a better job of keeping me in my seat.

Tarantino and Fox do not dissapoint

    by nhleees

Great movie! It was very entertaining from the start and the characters were great. As is typical with QT movies: over the top in terms of story line, violence and bloodshed, but you should always expect that and come prepared! It was a lot of fun and I highly recommend it.
