Best Tarantino Movie Since Pulp Fiction

If "Pulp Fiction" is a favorite, you will love Django. Smart dialog, interesting characters, great story line & great direction. Outstanding performances by the Stars and some less-known actors. Lots of action without the CGI crap and unrealistic super-human athleticism that I have come to hate in many action movies. I hope Quentin continues to make these types of movies. It's what he is best at.

    Fairly entertaining, but...

    by CatCow

I have to wonder what is going through Tarantino's mind lately. Plenty of wild blood spatter and guts flying everywhere, plenty of violence and bad language... Enough to keep any Tarantino fan happy. And some quite humorous parts as well, the rest of the audience was laughing pretty hard. But why is it that he tried so hard to avoid showing female parts when they were nude, but decided to show off Django's junk? Almost reminds me of British television. Other than that annoyance, it was a good movie.

Good Movie, but hard to watch!

There is some really excellent stuff in this film,(the acting, cinematography, soundtrack, etc.) but it was very difficult for me to watch. There is also a lot of violence and brutality that harkens to a very, very ugly time in American history that so many wish to sweep under the rug. Watching it made me quite uncomfortable during many scenes.

    Great western movie!

    by jmm0979

I love the movie and just what I expected from QT, the movie was overly exaggerated and very graphic. I love the plot but I do wish Django's partner wasn't killed. My husband and I enjoyed it very much.

    Django!

    by 215max

After seeing some of the previews I was thinking I would see something with a , "Gone With the Wind," feel...Oh contraire! Tarantino puts his creative fabulous spin on this story of slaves owners and relationships. The music is great and works tho the period is the 1800's.

I feel this is a must see..I did put my hands over my face a few times but.....it was fabulous!!!!

Foxx is amazing as is the rest of this brilliant cast...

Best Picture, Director, Actor and Supporting Actors

    by Gabreli

This movie was one of the best that I have seen in a long time. Tarantino, Foxx and Jackson all deserve Academy awards. All contribute their immense talents by taking a historic, tragic period of human life (i.e., see Tarantino's Inglorious Bastards) and blending a fictional story into the fabric such 'revenge' against the bad guys is almost plausible. The underlying, or perhaps graphic, reference to the savagery of slavery, the unbelievable pretenses that it was allowed to exist; and deemed acceptable as a way of life and pitted slaves against one another, is truly disgusting. At times, the scenes are hard to watch and accept that humans can treat other this way. Still, the acting, plot and character development is phenomenal. Lastly, to Tarantino's directing genius, he can inject farcical scenes without destroying the movie flow. Given the acceptance of such a brutal institution as slavery, the absurdities are ' truer than life'. This is a classic.

    Django Fiction

"Djano" means a fun movie, gotta see it once.
"Pulp Fiction," on the other hand, never gets old even though one can view it 100's of times. I noted a number of the audience who talked about the humor in "Django," which is funny and filled with great moments. However In nearly every scene of "Pulp Fiction" there was a take-away moment, a key line one could use later; funnier, too.
I rate his movies in order (Directed and/or wrote) 1. Pulp 2. True Romance 3. Reservoir Dogs 4. From Dusk to Dawn 5. All the rest tie at No. 5
Understand, of course, that No. 5 on this list will be floors above most movies, so recognize this is a very high bar by the most creative of people.

    Great movie

    by

It was one of my favorite movies I have seen all year. If you like a kill bill type movie in spaghetti western format it is a must see.

    Best Picture of the year!!!!!

The picture was done so well, included so much true history on slavery in this country, and the attitudes of slave owners and their slaves in which they owned and killed. There was so much to laugh about now which was not funny when it was happening, It was a true picture of the thoughts and actions of slaves, especially the part played by Sam Jackson. Some people expressed their dislike after the movie, but they are not aware of the history of slavery which was truly depicted, and have no reason to be ashamed of what was, but should strive to educate themselves and to share true knowledge of slavery with others. They should be ensure it does not happen again, and be sure that they don't enslave another.

All acting was great and Jamie Fox and Same Jackson were superb!!! Because of the language, ages 13 and above only should see it. If you don't mind exposing your child to a large amount of vulgar language from Sam Jackson, than ages 9 and over can learn a history lesson.

    Classic Quentin

Better than expected. Great cameos by Bruce Dern and Don Johnson. The movie keeps you interested and it did not feel like a 2hr 45min movie once it was done.

I was hesistant about going to see this movie because I feel horrible after seeing slave type movies. But, I went and I enjoyed it! I loved Jamie Foxx's character and Samuel L. Jackson's character. Somebody needs to win or be nominated for an Oscar from this movie!!

    Misunderstood

    by

I saw the movie tonight and I thought it was great! It was action pack. I love that Quentin always does a cameo. All the lead characters did their roles well. I think a lot of people were reading to much in to certain words used in the movie. I feel that the way that it was used was appropriate for the time that the move took place. Other than that I enjoyed it. One part was a bit anti climactic but over all I would go see it again.

Django is my new Super Hero!

Tarantino has done it again! If you liked or loved unglorious bastards, you'll love Django. In my opinion Django is funnier and a little more suspenseful. I've read some reviews in which people where offended by the movie's depiction of slaves and it's use of the "N" word. I'm a minority and have personally experienced racism in my life as a young youth. I can tell you Django doesn't regress BlackPeople 100 years as stated in some reviews. The movies setting is set in1865 and racism and slavery was a daily part of life and now part of our nations history.
It's a MOVIE AND A REALLY ENTERTAINING MOVIE AT THAT. DJANGO IS MY NEW SUPERHERO.

    Brilliant

    by

I just want to start off by saying, if you aren't generally a Quentin Tarentino fan then you may not appreciate the masterpiece that this movie truly is. This movie definitely has Tarentino's signature flare of somewhat cheesy camera angles, old style text and music and exaggerated blood splatter. The movie is violent but the amount of blood that is used is more comical than sickening. it is set during slavery so expect excessive use of the "N" word as that is what slaves were called back then.

The story is pure genius and wraps you in from the very first scene, Quentin wastes no time in making the hero and his objective clear within the first 10-15 minutes of the movie. Jamie Foxx's mix of bad boy and comical personality are the perfect fit for this character. Samuel L Jackson is funny and yells a lot (as he tends to do) and Leonardo DiCaprio is the villain that I loved to hate.

Overall this movie has a good story, action and just the right amount of comic relief.
