    All kinds of awesome!

Yes it's violent, but this is Tarentino at his best. The constant sense of outrage at the behaviors of the period driven characters is perfectly tempered by the absurdity of their beliefs and actions. The emotional whipsaw of hilarity; then violence and sometimes violence AS hilarity was nothing short of genius. Remember how conflicted we all felt watching the unhinged; unapologetic violence of Pulp Fiction while laughing so hard it left us dazed and confused? Well Django is an all-out thrill ride that demands you pay attention to the incredible injustice that was and in all to many instances, still is rampant. Anyone upset by the 100+ utterances of the "N" word-trust me; it's use is more than balanced by the sheer ignorance and ineptitude written into the character portrayal of the slave owners and those who supported the institution. This is the most fun I've had at a movie all year. What a way to end or start the year. See this movie; early and often! Thanks Quentin.

    Tarantino does it again!

    by tomit

This was an old time western told only like Tarantino can. It was compelling, interesting, and funny. The dialog was pure Tarantino. The acting was superb. Samuel L was amazing!!!

Questioning Our Most Uncherished Values:2 COMPLEX 4 MOST MOVIE GOERS

Evil flourishes when good people do nothing.QT reveals in his moviesTHE most American of values is violence. He cleverly asks us to participate as observers &we get the blood all over us. It is a suckers bet. By showing polarity of bad and worse,we always choose bad. Why?The protagonist(s)in his films represent violent &vile lifestyles, aka bad people. We are trained to make every shade of grey&black into good and bad. But wait, grey is not good, it is bad,but not worse than bad, but still bad. Like Inglorious Basterds, Django is thought provoking and re-educates, or more accurately educates, us on the ignominious presence of evil in not only of historical weirdnesses (National Socialists& Slavers)but also the capacity for acting righteously in each of us(bounty hunters are legal, nazi hunters are legal). As long as we are beating the worse demons, we are better than they are. It makes you wonder how far one goes, will go,or has gone w/out examining 1's values.Spins a good erudite tale!

    Blew My Nuts Away!

QT does it again. I will admit, this movie is not for everyone but if you have seen other QT movies, you will enjoy. The way the movie was shot, the soundtrack which is probably one of the best I have ever heard, and the casting was all great! Jamie Foxx and Chris Waltz are a great team and Samuel Jackson is to die for. It is very graphic as all of his movies are so leave the kids at home. This is worth seeing on the big screen and I know that others will agree.

I really wanted to like it...

    by

After the 2 hour mark, the movie really begins to pander. It really could've been great, but the editing must have just taken the night off. There were at least 5-6 scenes that had NOTHING to do with the movie ultimately took away from the forward progress of the storyline.

Great film-making and definitely entertaining... but that was ridiculously too long.

    *BEST MOVIE OF 2012*

The movies name is "django unchained" but honestly after seeing this movie it should be called "Django off the chain"!!!!!! This movie is incredible. It's really funny, a bit gory but totally Tarantinos style and all around entertaining. Go see this movie, you will not and can not be disappointed:-)

Best Tarantino Movie Since Pulp Fiction

If "Pulp Fiction" is a favorite, you will love Django. Smart dialog, interesting characters, great story line & great direction. Outstanding performances by the Stars and some less-known actors. Lots of action without the CGI crap and unrealistic super-human athleticism that I have come to hate in many action movies. I hope Quentin continues to make these types of movies. It's what he is best at.

    Fairly entertaining, but...

    by CatCow

I have to wonder what is going through Tarantino's mind lately. Plenty of wild blood spatter and guts flying everywhere, plenty of violence and bad language... Enough to keep any Tarantino fan happy. And some quite humorous parts as well, the rest of the audience was laughing pretty hard. But why is it that he tried so hard to avoid showing female parts when they were nude, but decided to show off Django's junk? Almost reminds me of British television. Other than that annoyance, it was a good movie.

    So so good!

Django exceeded my expectations in almost every regard. It's way too long, but you almost don't care because the story and characters draw you in completely. Tarantino put his foot into this. Although this is a fantasy about a slave handing out retribution to those who have wronged him and the love of his life, too many things seemed deadly accurate in regards to Tarantino's depiction of the time period. Anyone complaining about the gratuitous use of the N-word really needs a reality check about slavery. Never before has the word been thrown around so *appropriately*, considering the time period. The acting is top-notch, Leo, Jaime, Christopher, and Samuel really stepped up to the plate, and the dialogue is sharp. I was surprised about how much humor this movie contained. It never trivializes the issue of slavery, it does poke fun at many of the players who participated in it. I do think it could have been edited down by a half an hour, but it

    Nothing can prepare you.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, it's a Quentin Terrantino flick. But respect the content. It's fictional but it's based on real history. And yeah America, it's shameful, but it's true. And when reality stares you in the eye, you can't look away. The film is gut wrenching, but worth every penny. I'll be honest, it matured me a little. Movies like this always do. This film is far from Roots, but it's very close to home. Very sobering.

    Just Excellent

I have to say that I now understand my reasoning as to why I don't listen to critics. If I had, I would have missed an amazing movie. From beginning to the end. It wasn't at all what I expected and the acting was great. Loved, Loved, Loved this movie. Funny in some parts and others made you think. In the end........great movie.

    Misunderstood

    by

I saw the movie tonight and I thought it was great! It was action pack. I love that Quentin always does a cameo. All the lead characters did their roles well. I think a lot of people were reading to much in to certain words used in the movie. I feel that the way that it was used was appropriate for the time that the move took place. Other than that I enjoyed it. One part was a bit anti climactic but over all I would go see it again.

    Thumbs Way Up

Tarantino does a masterful job with a difficult subject. He peppers the horrors or a dark time in our history with satire and irony. Beautifully done!
