    AMERICAN HISTORY

    by

The movie was entertaining with the real reality of The United States of America treatment of people from Africa. I hid my tears & the pain back & enjoyed the movie for what it is.

A story that spoke about the 1800's in the states. It was funny & Jamie Fox was great. A lot of heads getting blown off with blood going everywhere.

It's a good movie, but if you don't want to go back to the 1800's and think about what really happened n the U.S. then you probably don't want to see this movie.

    But it's a good one.

    Loved it!

Django Unchained was another great QT flick. I love a great story, especially one where the black man is the hero AND saves his woman in the end. I think Quentin T. was a black man in one of his past lives, along with Robert Deniro and Peter Jackson. I love these guys because they are smart enough to know that our stories deserve to be told as well. Even with the resistance of the Hollywood production companies these directors and actors put out movies like Red Tails and Django Unchained where we can see ourselves on screen as real men and women instead of drug-dealers and exotic dancers.

    Quentin strikes again.

Verification of Facts? Hmmm. I'll leave that to the experts.

Best actor in the film? (Notice I said film...yup, gettin' up there)

    Christoph Waltz stole the show.

I first saw him in Inglorious Bastards and liked him, now after seeing him in this movie, I am actively following him. What a great actor.

The movie itself was no doubt Quentin setting up the underdog and then letting the villain have it typical Tarantino and it didn't disappoint. Get your popcorn, get you pop, sit back and enjoy the ride!

    Django Unchained a Must

    by jmbnyc

It's what you'd expect from Tarantino: violent, brilliant dialogue, wonderful acting (especially Christoph Waltz), a fabulous score (it was a treat to hear Jim Croce's "I Got a Name"), and a cameo from the director. I can't wait for the third entry in the revenge trilogy.

    Got up and left

    by

I really can't figure out what the director and actors were trying to tell us. Glorified, exaggerated violence is not art and it should not be entertainment.

We all listened in horror about a gunman slaughtering children a few weeks ago and then flock to theaters to see hundreds of shootings with blood spurting in an unrealistic way.

    We are a sick society.

    Typical Wonderful Tarantino

It seems Tarantino has been up to his usual trickery. Truly I didn't and don't take his movies as seriously as the where once handled. Jackie Brown and Reservoir Dogs were definitely his two best in my opinion. Then the fame hit after Pulp Fiction, which I do enjoy just doesn't hit all my buttons like RD does.
Hence I also expected nothing less after Kill Bill he's been doing his "western" thing. Seems to work for him. You've got a samurai western, then a car chasing movie in the open plains, sort of western and now a western oozing with slavery. This is definitely a great movie, fun to watch and hilarious too boot.
I did have some discrepancies mid film to which I was awed about yet not that amazed. The random rap/hip hop music intervened. Truly I would have been more than happy with the original score to flow unanimously through the entire film instead of the wacky rap but it also didn't surprise me as well Tarantino gets goofy and that sure did it for him.
    All in all Great Movie.

    great movie

Leo was great as candy. Proves to me he is a good actor and the academy just hates hiom for some reason for not nominating him.

Jamie HFoxx was badd *** as Django.

    Waltz always excellent.

    Sam Jackson super funny.

Movie was action packed, funny, and great fun.

    Be Prepared...

I waffled between "so-so" and "go"...this movie is typical Tarantino but it was very violent in a weird kind of way. Lots of guns, shooting and blood. However, it's a big, brazen movie, brilliantly acted across the board, one of the best things Tarantino has done.

    Django Unchained: My take

This was one of the more disappointing movies I have ever seen. A lot of hype but the Academy folded here as well as they did with Argo. Slow, long and tried to hype with blood flowing.

To think that the degree of excitement was through carnage is a sad commentary on the excitement we look forward to from the cinema. This review was one of the very few to which I have actually responded as a result of my somewhat dogmatic reaction.

    Guilty Pleasure

    by

We have always enjoyed Quentin Tarantino's movies and this was no exception. He achieved true spaghetti western movie enjoyment. We only wished parents had the good sense to leave small children at home as it was an adult movie.

    Insanity in Candyland

Django Unchained is a great film up to the first shootout at Candyland. Then it becomes kinda souless for the last 30 minutes. Good, but not great. That is because Django's character is so stolid. Fox's acting is great, but his character keeps it all locked inside, so the revenge ending, albeit clever and DYNAMITE, is a step down as far as human depth.

Inglorious Basturds was a better film, more consistent to the last drop.

Django Unchained is a real education in the DETAILS of the cruelty and nutsness of the Slavery System. Slavery made slave masters insane in a very real way. Inhumanity makes us insane.

NOT for the kids. The violence here is explicit and treated as a romp.

    Let Me Say This...

    by Katty8

As a budding screenwriter, I always try to see as many movies as possible and most definitely the ones nominated for Best Picture. It was very bloody and very violent. The N word was spoken too many times for my comfort level. It was extremely graphic, extremely Tarantino, and without a doubt, extremely good.
