    One of Tarantino's masterpieces

This film is one of Quentin Tarantino's masterpieces. It has all the trademarks of his greatest films. In many ways this film echoes Inglorious Basterds, but I find it even more satisfying for some reason. Tarantino takes the satisfying revenge of an oppressed class of people and weaves into the framework of a classic spaghetti western. The result is as satiating as a big juicy hamburger loaded with all your favorite toppings. Yum.

Not as good as I had hoped

This movie was extremely violent and pretty typical of Quentin Tarantino. I felt that the use of the "n" word was excessive and it began to annoy me. Some of the scenes were realistic about the history of slavery and made me feel sick about the representation. The best acting was Christopher Waltz. Jamie Foxx gave an average performance. If you enjoy revenge fantasies, this will not disappoint. There were some humorous moments. This is not on my list of movies to see again.

    Entertaining

    by gwkjn

Had no idea what to expect. Didn't like Pulp Fiction at all, but found Django Unchained very entertaining. Was surprised at the language in the movie which I thought might be offensive to many, but the audience seemed to enjoy the movie. Would recommend it.

    Best Picture of the year!!!!!

The picture was done so well, included so much true history on slavery in this country, and the attitudes of slave owners and their slaves in which they owned and killed. There was so much to laugh about now which was not funny when it was happening, It was a true picture of the thoughts and actions of slaves, especially the part played by Sam Jackson. Some people expressed their dislike after the movie, but they are not aware of the history of slavery which was truly depicted, and have no reason to be ashamed of what was, but should strive to educate themselves and to share true knowledge of slavery with others. They should be ensure it does not happen again, and be sure that they don't enslave another.

All acting was great and Jamie Fox and Same Jackson were superb!!! Because of the language, ages 13 and above only should see it. If you don't mind exposing your child to a large amount of vulgar language from Sam Jackson, than ages 9 and over can learn a history lesson.

    An Epic

    by

Some said it's too long, but I didn't have a problem. This is a film that has EVERYTHING. You don't need to know what I think about it, just go and see it. Nuf said.

    Just a Fun Movie

At first I thought I wasn't enjoying Django Unchained because it wasn't really what I had expected, but then I realized I hadn't stopped smiling since the movie began.

Best Tarantino Film since Pulp Fiction. *SPOILERS*

    by GregCo

Nasty, violent, foul mouth cinema never looked any cooler. One of the best "PAYBACK" flicks I've seen in a long time. The acting was superb, violent as hell (Reminds me of the gore from Planet Terror). Some parts are hard to watch, for example *START SPOILER* The scene where one of the slaves was ripped apart by vicious dogs was pretty hard to watch along with other extreme mistreatment of slaves at the time. But it leads up to a VERY gratifying ending *END SPOILERS* But if you can get through that, it is one of the best movies of the year.

So leave the kids at home and go see it!

    Great, but a tad long

Sometimes the movie is unclear whether it is a smiling homage to westerns or a send-up of the genre, it constantly skirts a fine line. But a good tale, entertainingly told with very strong performances, and not enough people mention Samuel L. Jackson creating a memorable and very unique character. As good as it was, though, the film felt long.
Please go, but promise yourself to laugh at all the bloody effects (except the dogs). Skip it if dark humor evades you.

    Excellent Movie

    by

This movie was a little long but it was still excellent. If you are familiar with Tarantino's work then you would have expected nothing less. The over the top blood and gore was superb. The fact that he used the "N" word just correlated with the time period that he portrayed. I didn't think there was an overuse of the word. I recommend everyone to go see this movie. I will be going to see it again!!

    Fantastic film

Not too violent but appropriately violent. Not bloated rather suspenseful. Not a "white savior" film - Django saves himself. The spaghetti western form is not dismissive of slavery; the style doesn't interfere with and even highlights the horror of the subject matter.

Good Movie, but hard to watch!

There is some really excellent stuff in this film,(the acting, cinematography, soundtrack, etc.) but it was very difficult for me to watch. There is also a lot of violence and brutality that harkens to a very, very ugly time in American history that so many wish to sweep under the rug. Watching it made me quite uncomfortable during many scenes.

Tarantino and Fox do not dissapoint

    by nhleees

Great movie! It was very entertaining from the start and the characters were great. As is typical with QT movies: over the top in terms of story line, violence and bloodshed, but you should always expect that and come prepared! It was a lot of fun and I highly recommend it.

    Django - See it!

In some ways a typical Tarantino effort, but with a little more comedy and excellent performances by the two protagonists. I could have done without the full-out bloodbath, but the rest was top-notch. See it, you will be entertained.

    Quentin Does it again

    by RLEP

Well, if you are expecting violence, or twists in the plot, and of course seasoned actors doing what they do well. THIS IS YOUR FILM!!! Quentin has given us unusual perspectives of life and times before, and he's done it again. Django Unchained is truly outrageous and and off and off the CHAIN.!!!! I would recommend this movie to anyone over 16. Not because of violence (it Quentin, let's be real) but language.

    Great western movie!

    by jmm0979

I love the movie and just what I expected from QT, the movie was overly exaggerated and very graphic. I love the plot but I do wish Django's partner wasn't killed. My husband and I enjoyed it very much.
