    Very Good

I enjoyed it more than I thought I would! It's worth the money. Go see it! Very long though. Started at 7:30 and ended at 10:00!

Its not good when the main characters are less impressive than the secondary. the Oz character it seems punch lines were VERY week. Although the porcelian girl was hillarious, as well as the flying monkey, and ditzy assistants at the very beginning of the movie. I would love to see this movie agian on television but definitely NOT at the theatre.

    Oz

    by kenpjr

My first reaction to the trailer for Oz was a modern day remake of the classic. After seeing the film, I commend Disney and its creative people for producing a prequel to the original. It has shades of a Star Wars plot to get the characters in position and likeness to the Wizard of Oz. There were surprise twists along the way, and the Bruce Campbell cameo was well hidden for someone given title credits.

Welcome Return for Audiences to the Land of Oz

This is what a movie should be. Follow the yellow brick road and be taken out of your life and into another world full of color, majesty, and beautiful women. It was a welcoming warmth to visit the land of Oz again after many years without seeing the weird Return to Oz or the original classic. You will immediately hope they make more.

    Oz The great and powerful

    by DocNJ

Nice story, it was a little forced in spots, had a clever twist in the end, pretty family freindly, I especially liked the china doll character.

    2D Version

It was still awesome. Could tell which scenes would have been better if we had gone to 3D. It did an excellent job setting the back story for Dorothy and the Wizard of Oz. And all the witches are sisters, who knew.....

    Severely Let Down

I was so excited to see this movie, and I had high expectations for this movie. I was let down in multiple ways. The movie moved so slowly; a lot of the scenes were unnecessary. The scenery was beautiful, but I felt it was too cartoony looking. I felt the CGI could have been more realistic looking. I'm sad to say that I was starting to fall asleep by the end. Glinda was too sugary sweet, and the lock of hair that was out of placed irked me the whole time. Why didn't they fix that?! Evanora's true nature wasn't well concealed so the reveal of her as the wicked witch was anticlimactic. Neither her nor Theodora were all that wicked, and for them to be witches neither performed any spectacular feats of magic. The acting was forced. I almolst fee asleep towards the end. I kept waiting for it to be over. It was just painful to watch.

    Oz the great and powerful

    by nd94598

Great for kids. Good animation, creative characters and adventures. More action than story. It was good entertainment. I have read all the frank Baum Oz books and it made me want to go read them again.
I rate it a plus go see it.

Stupendous movie, so nice to not hear the F word constantly! I know this was for children but my husband and I enjoyed it tremendously. Recommend to everyone!

    Oz the Great and Powerful

    by emc_nyc

OK, I've never reviewed a movie on Fandango. NEVER. I am taking the time to do it because I think, due to the negative media reviews in NYC, that I must!

I don't understand why the papers are giving this one star. The movie is charming, beautifully shot and new. When was the last time Hollywood had a novel idea? This summer, you're going to see a lot of tired alien-based horror movies. At least one, I'm sure, will feature Tom Cruise. (Now THAT'S surprise, right?)

Michelle Williams and Mila Kunis are really good. Rachel Weisz is good. The acting's good. Franco is pretty good. The flying baboon are scary for little kids. I sat with a NYC audience and I haven't heard an audience clap in many years. (We didn't. We are a bit too reserved. But I was clappin' on the inside.)

Go see it. Don't listen to the previewers anymore. Make up your own minds.

PS: I didn't give it a "Must Go" because, as I've said, I'm a bit reserved. But do go....

    It had soooo much potential.........

    by

I think it was poorly cast. Johnny Depp would have been a better wizard than Franco. I was very disappointed. This movie had so much potential, but fell short. Wait for the $1 movie or DVD. It's worth seeing once, but only once. :(

    Oz good memories ..

For those of us who grew up watching the Wizard of Oz, this was a wonderful experience. Watch the background.. You'll see more than all the younger folks.

    Very entertaining!

As an adult, I never go into a Disney movie with the thought that there will be no corny moments. It is definitely a family oriented movie but it still has its clever quips that I couldn't help but be entertained with. It was not the best movie I have ever seen but it did just what it was made to do...entertain! Plus, I have been obsessed with Mr. Franco since I was a tweeny bopper and he was definitely worth seeing.

    Great story idea, poorlly executed

    by NJSue

I am a great fan of the stories by L. Frank Baum and was really excited to see this. Unfortunately, the script, direction, and acting were all pretty poor. The best-acted character was the China Doll. And the effort to tie this movie in with The Wizard of Oz movie stretched too far and seemed artificial.
