    Very Disappointing

    by Rplnpty

The movie seemed long and drawn out, boring at times. Not very exciting. I have never walked out of a movie, but this time I almost did. This movie is an embarrassment to the entire "OZ" legacy. Actors were terrible. I found it very hard to sit through the entire movie and really think it is not worth paying to see. The end was the best part but it took forever to get there. I was getting very impatient for something to happen but it just didn't deliver for me. I would say that I was actually very disappointed. Don't waste your money.

A Hot Poker in the Eye is More Intertaining

Was really looking forward to seeing this movie since the first first trailer came out. With great anticipation my wife and I entered the theater, found our seats-the movie began. Very slow to start-seemed to get less exciting as it progressed. The best part of the film was hearing the little kids laugh in unison at the funny parts and scream at the witch.

The real best part was when the credits were scrolling on the screen-and I hate scrolling credits. I was excited at the promise of this movie but I believe the leading role (James Franko) could have been played by a better actor like Paul Reubens or James Galdafini (can you feel the sarcasm?). The $20+ for the tickets and the overpriced popcorn and coke (which I must have) would have been better spent at a roulette table-which is where it will go next time. Wait until the movie hits the $1 theater then don't go. If you borrow it from a friend when it comes out on video...then that may be the time to see it-but I doubt it!

    Ok, not great

The film itself was an interesting idea, being told from the wizards perspective, with a few literary differences. I didn't really like some of the actors, thought their performances were a bit lazy.

    Enjoyable family night out

Some reviewers said they were disappointed because of "adult humor". Besides the comment about the sock being on the door (which wasn't that bad because there was nothing really going on), there wasn't really any adult humor that I noticed.

Was it as good as the original? Let's get serious! The Wizard of Oz is a classic and no one should be expecting this movie to compare to it. It was however, a very enjoyable movie to watch. My children loved the monkey, the munchkin named Nook, and the china doll characters. They were the real comedy in the movie.

It might not be the reincarnation of the Wizard of Oz, but it was a fun night out. I will be buying the movie on Dvd so I can watch it with my family again.

    Oz the Great and Powerful

    by rldofga

Went with grandson had a great time. This is a good family movie. No bang bang shoot outs. No nudity, strong language. Slow in parts but, overall a very good movie for a change.

Great Trailer, Actual Movie Not So Much

I remember seeing the trailer a couple of times and thought that this was going to be an awesome movie. The beginning is incredibly slow and just barely keeps you interested. It moves along pretty uneventful until the end. The last 30 mins or so is how the whole movie should have been.

    Pretty Good

I have been wanting to go see this movie since I first heard it was coming out last year. I had a baby in November 2012 and haven't been out since. I chose this time to have my first outing and went to the 9 o'clock showing. That was my first mistake. I'm usually in bed by 9. I was tired when I got there. Still I enjoyed the movie. It was really well put together and I loved how they told the story of the true wicked witch. I fell asleep a couple times despite my great effort otherwise. The "fight" scene was what got me. It was just kind of drawn out. One thing that surprised me though, especially at a 9pm showing, was that there were a WIDE variety of viewers. From ages 4 to well above 40. All around a great movie, but I don't know if it was worth losing sleep and time with my baby. I could have dealt with waiting for the DVD.

    OZ The Pretty Good!

I've read a lot of reviews stating "disappointing", "innocence lost" and other negatives but I don't know what these people expected. Judy Gartland reincarcated as Dorothy and the munchkins giving out candy in the audience? I found the movie entertaining and I'm glad I saw it on the big screen. The story was a prequel so if you thought it was supposed to be a remake of the original, you should have read about it and rented the original instead. Most of the acting was great though I also felt the male lead was a bit miscast. The word Depp comes to mind for a better choice but let's give someone else a chance. Mila was stunning as well as the other 2 witches. I did see 2 scenes that looked like they were green screened and that they could have been done by a home movie maker pertaining to the the takes where they were walking with the yellow flowers behind them. Looked like antique tech. All in all, a good film that made me feel like I saw what made Oz who he was in the original.

    Good

    by

The movie was a little long and had a lot of down time (for little kids). The acting was great and the colors/graphics were amazing. However, overall, I thought the movie was a little more boring than I expected. Wait for DVD instead!

    Positively awful

It's so depressing that there are no good movies to watch anymore. Just rehashings of old films that shouldn't be messed with. I left this one halfway through. It was all I could stomach. The poor actors had to act almost totally on green screen with annoying CGI characters. This was the most promising film at the theaters tonight and I'm terribly disappointed. One of the absolute worst I've ever seen. And I paid $10.25 for it. Started out ok with the black and white backstory in Kansas and as soon as the story moved to OZ it was almost unwatchable. Perhaps children may find it entertaining, I'm not sure. But the flying monkeys would scare them so I'm not sure what the studio was going for here. Long story short, a waste of an evening.

    A LITTLE DISAPPOINTED

I was so excited to see this movie that I even purchased, for the first time ever, my tickets in advance.

It had a very slow beginning, I didn't think Franco was that good of an actor. Thank goodness the witches were AWESOME! There were some touching scenes but no tears!

Ending was very good compared to the rest of the movie!

Nothing Great about this Oz--only mediocre

I kept thinking I was watching a made for TV version of Oz. There is nothing magical here, the wizard (James Franco) wasn't, the castle wasn't, Theodora (Mila Kunis) wasn't. It's amazing how a 1939 fim with little technogy and only ingenuity and creativity could outshine a modern day, multi-million dollar production. The movie's concept was inconsistent. The biggest letdown for me was that the witches were witch-like and supernatural only some times, but mostly human. It kept me from feeling like I was at Oz, from believing the other world. Not to say the movie didn't have it's pluses--Michelle Williams as Glenda saved the movie, the final showdown was good, and Rachel Weitz was great, as always. The CGI was third rate, didn't match for most of the movie. Knowledgeable fans will be dissappointed. Newbies will be entertained.

    Oz the Great and Powerful

No what I expected. Thoought it wopuld be a little more interesting, but it was just OK.
There were lots of children in the theater, not a children's movie. Moved very slow. Corny parts did nto add to the movies theme.

Mila Kunis is the "bad" witch

    by Cgone7

It was an overall good movie for what it's worth but Mila Kunis is not the greatest witch when it comes to acting. Well, she's not the greatest actress in general but she kind of lost me when she turned into the bad witch.

    So Disappointed ...

    by Finch45

I expected more from this movie spacial because of just the title alone, OZ. The movie was very poorly made, Graphics were to fake looking, out of place in a sense and the acting was unrealistic as well. I believe i enjoyed only one sense in this move and it was a very short one. I say wait for this movie to be put out on some media platform if you must see it, and save your money for a better movie that is playing in a theater.
