    Well Done

Well done adaptation of the book. Character's well developed just like in the book. I enjoyed discussing the characters and plot with my husband. He had not read the book, but enjoyed the plot twists and did not feel like he was watching a chick flick.

    Good Movie

Went on Valentine's Day with my hubby, have to say I enjoyed more than him. Kind of slow in parts, but several unexpected twists. Overall a typical Nicholas Sparks movie.

    For the Romantics

I do have to admit that the book was def better than the movie, but the movie was good too. It was chopping in some parts and I wish the characters were developed better as they were n the book, but if you are a romantic then I would say this movie is for you.

    Are we kidding ourselves?

    by

The cover shows more passion in one glance then the entire movie showed. This was possibly one of the worst Nicholas Sparks movies. It did not follow the book or follow any set of cinematic timeline. It was slow and the only good thing about it was a shirtless Josh. Character development was not there. I felt no remorse toward Julianne's character, nor toward why I should care about Josh's past. He didn't seem THAT sad about it. It was more of a thriller than an actual romantic movie that Nicholas Sparks is known for. There was one thing I loved about this movie, which I love about all of Nicholas Sparks' movies, the setting. The Carolina's are truly a sight...unlike this movie, which I wish I could take back ever seeing it.

    Safe Haven

Enjoyed the movie, the scenery was beautiful and Hough and Duhamel were very believable in the roles they played. It seemed to almost parallel to Sleeping with the Enemy in some areas, but ended up with a twist that I didn't see coming. I thought the story was great and I loved the ending.

    Boring, poor acting, too long

    by thain66

I feel that between a badly written script, bad acting (except for the little girl who plays the daughter), and the need to stretch this out made for a horrible combination.

    Passionate And Well Executed.

I enjoyed this film. While not as bold as Sparks' "The Notebook," this film has its own center, just as much charm and romance. The cast does an excellent job of distracting you from whatever you were thinking about when walked into the theater. They engage and entertain you with a fair story with a surprise or two thrown into the mix. See it. You won't be disappointed

    Nicholas Sparks Book Fan

    by

I am an avid book fan of Nicholas Sparks. I have read and own all of his books, and have seen all the movies based on his books. Every one of his books is more than a nice story. Each one seems to contain some valuable lesson or insight about life. But, Safe Haven has a special place in our hearts, because of its setting in Southport NC. We became acquainted with the Southport area in the past few years and are hoping to retire there. It was wonderful to enjoy the photography in the movie, and relive our many happy experiences visiting in Southport. If you appreciate Nicholas Sparks books, then you are sure to enjoy the movie. If you are not familiar with his writing, but you enjoy a wholesome love story with good drama and suspense, then you won't be disappointed. I was particularly relieved to know that Nicholas Sparks produced the movie before I saw it, because I knew the integrity of the book would be honored. The twists in plot from book to movie were appropriate and well done.

    More than just a "chick-flick"

Yes it's a love story that will require a quick dab with a kleenex. It's also a bit of a suspense drama that unfolds a little unexpectedly. Then there's the ending which is exciting, and it all gets tied up with a neat little bow at the very end. Definitely worth your time and money to go see.

    Excellent Nicolas Sparks Story!!

Another excellent movie from a Nicholas Sparks book. I really liked the actors/actresses in this movie. Great suspense and thrills and feel good scenes of an abused woman who meets a single widower and his kids. It gives the great life lessons that life goes on and there are good people out there among the tyrants who try to control everything. Definitely a go see movie!! It's another great example of how good a story teller Nicholas Sparks can be.

Guys, take her to see this movie...

I enjoyed this movie. It was not outstanding but it was good and the story kept you interested. My daughter read the book and said their were some notable differences but the overall story wasn't changed. The two main characters worked well together on screen. Good chemistry. Go see the movie - take your wife, girlfriend or daughter - you'll get points for doing so!
Having raised two daughters, my Man Card has been nearly confiscated a number of times so I know of what I speak!

    Valentines Day

My wife and I attended last night for Valentines, we're still talking about it this morning. We have a home on Bald Head Island near Southport so had been wrapped up in the filming this summer. It was better than we every expected. Wonderful love story. We are going back Sunday with our kids to see it again

    Dumbest Movie Ever

    by

I shouldn't have been surprised that a Nicholas Sparks film was lacking any real character development or substance, but this one went beyond terrible. It's like a Nicholas Sparks/M Knight Shyamalan cocktail with the worst possible results.

    Terrible.

    SAFE HAVEN

Very predictable story line all except the end. Nice twist but I won't ruin it for the die hard Romantics out there.
Julianne is just down right pretty, the camera loves her, her acting is ok nothing to right home about. Love love love Josh, I wish he got more challenging roles.
Over all I would wait to see this movie when it comes out on DVD or Netflix.
