The movie was okay. It wasn't very scary. Better to wait until it comes out on DVD.The storyline was better than the scary parts. It was all shown on the trailer. They made it loud and dramatic and then you start feeling it and then BOOM its not scary..... The dads acting wasn't good for some reason, it might just be me but i was bugged by it the whole time.

Worth watching

It's a demonic possession movie, so don't expect to come out of it with a new focus in life. I really liked it, and would recommend to anyone. Not a big fan of the climax of the movie - a little too goofy for my taste, but it didn't ruin it for me.

AWESOME MOVIE THE POSSESSION

I don't like watching scary movies, but my fiance wanted to watch it. So, we went and it was so scary and kept you in suspense. The acting was so good that you where so scared of the kid. It was so good that it even scared my fiance. We do recommend the movie, but not for kids :)

Good Possession genre movie

While it won't change your world, this is a good scary movie. Well filmed and edited, and acted. Better than the typical spring loaded horror films. Well written and NOT FOR KIDS.
Nice that my jewish homies finally got an exorcist picture.... :)

Solid Scary Movie

No new territory covered here, but director Ole Bournedal commits to his mission and delivers some good creeps with a decent amount of style. Handsomely mounted and effective.

Kid friendly but not too scary

Kid friendly horror movie about a young girl possessed by the spirit from a Dibuk Box (a Hebrew thing that contains a malevolent entity) goes light on the violence and a bit too heavy on the silly special effects. There are a few genuinely creepy scenes but this probably works best with an audience that is very easily scared. Parents who take their children to PG-13 horror flicks should have no problems with this one.

The Modern Exorcist

Within the first five minutes the film caught your attention and scared the two 13 yr old girls with me who love scary movies. It was like that through the whole movie. I thought the movie was very well done and just enough scary to keep the adults entertained and the teens huddled together the whole time.

It was suspenseful and moved fairly well. I would recommend this movie. The boyfriend's part could have been cut down not sure why he kept showing up. Somethings I knew were going to happen.

Very tame but interesting

I saw this movie in a packed theater full of coiling middle schoolers - the appropriate age and atmosphere for this movie. As this was not my first rodeo and I am an avid movie goer for the slightly spooked, this movie was a little too juvenile for me. Rather than using the now cliche "Found Footage" format - this movie does have a traditional scary movie story line. It does get one hooked very early on, but does not sustain this type of shock and awe. Maybe its just me, but this film was very bright and airy for a horror film. Perhaps that is part of the look of the film and I'm just stubborn. Finally, the story of this movie does harken back to the great exorcism/ possession films of old yet does not firmly grasp its own hold on american cinema. This film is almost a parody of itself. If you are hoping for a few good jumps out of your seat, and possibly even a few nightmares, this film will leave you unfulfilled. If you are 14 and going to a sleepover, this is a quality pick!

Not Ground-Breaking, But Still Entertaining

While the film is far from ground-breaking, if you enjoy movies in the genre, "The Possession" isn't a bad choice to go and see. It's mildly creepy throughout, but the ending is pretty intense. Try to go when there isn't going to be a theater filled with teenage girls. They scream at everything and then laugh about it for the next five minutes. Ugh...

really scary

some reviews say its bot good, but i think it was worth the money. I like the fact that this movie has good drama behind the horror part cuz a lot of exorcism movies that i have seen had terrible content

Not to bad, but you may want to wait an rent it or buy it. The acting was good and I did like the plot of the show. Some good old creepy scenes.

I enjoy a good horror flick; and this one certainly was enjoyable to me....

It might not be everyone's "Cup Of Tea", but I WOULD RECOMMEND it. The acting was good. and if they did a PART II, I would see it.

Had potential

This movie could have been really good. For example, the scene at the end at the hospital. Yeah ok, there is no staff or security around or patients, while this family is roaming the rooms and hallways. Also, after the incident with the boyfriend who lost his teeth and was bleeding from the mouth. There was no concerns or mentioning of him again by the mother, etc. Let it come out on DVD. Waste of my time.

Awesome!

I am not typically into this type of movie. I usually find them hokey and far fetched, but this one was very well written and acted out. It keeps you on the edge of your seat and really keeps you guessing. The special effects are great as well. Good movie to take a date to because they will be hanging on to you for dear life! I would give this movie a 4 out of 5 easily.
