    Mrs. Mun

    by MrsMun

To my surprise, I really liked the movie. It was suspenseful, grabbed your attention from the beginning and held it. The story line NOT slow and dragged out, it was gripping and a thriller without all that gore and slaughtering. Well written story based on a true story; amazing! Love the ending! Great acting; believable! Overall, on a scale from 1-10, I give it a
healthy 8. If you have not seen it and you long for a great thriller, "You gotta go." You won't be disappointed!!!

    Ciao, Everybody

Made me crap my pants (sorry, "soil myself")

    by rr11606

This is done right! Great acting ( a must) great story, even though you think it's a formula plot, excellent special effects (unless, gasp, that was really happening!) I rank it up there with Poltergeist for shock value and, of course, leaving a little meat on the bone for a sequel! May be too intense for some audiences, like, for example, YOU! HA HA Ha ha ha ha ha...echhh!

    The Possession

The movie was ok. I was hoping this movie was scary. This movie is in no way shape or form close to the horror The Exorcist brings to your nightmares. I could see some of the parts they took from The Exorcist but the beginning seem to drag.

However, I did love their acting and cinematography...amazing! This is not a kids movie.

For a good laugh more than a good scare

Purchased tickets for Girl's Night Out as my eldest now 17 wanted to see it as a part of her birthday weekend. She said that The Possession was a good movie, but she, her friends and the movie audience laughed through most it as more funny than scary.

    Nightmares

I have a hard time believing this is a PG-13 movie. Intense scenes of Demonic Possession and a some good work by the actors/actrsses, directing and cinematography puts this one into a must go class, thats if you like horror movies of course, and if you don't like horror movies you might want to go anyway it's a lot like The Exorcist.

    Not all that scary

    by

This is a movie worth seeing but there are many "typical" scenes. The movie was interesting but it was if the screenwriter tried too hard to make the movie scary.

    It was okay

I wouldn't buy it on DVD but it was okay. I took my kids 13 and 11 and it scared them but for an adult it wasn't a cover your eyes movie.

better then i expected, not scary

Better then i expected, thought it was gonna be some mindless scare you kind movie. It took a bit of time to get going. I got interested in the movie about half way thru when i realized its about a jewish exorcism. Not being jewish I found it interesting to see that part of their religion.

    True Horror

    by

Thanks to all the people who wrote a review on this movie! This movie is based on a true story, of a little girl that purchases a old antique wooden box from a yard sale. The secret inside the box haunts her and her family. Very good movie, kept my interest from the beginning to the end. Great story and acting!

    NOT A HORROR MOVIE

    by Sherod

Im a big horror movie fan and THIS IS NOT a horror movie. The few scenes that were suppose to and could have been scary were poorly edited and just stopped and cut to another scene and in most cases it was days after. Skip this movie.

A nice spooky film, but it ain't the Exorcist

    by dbr62

I'd give this flick a solid grade of "B" and say that if you have the disposable income and the time, you should enjoy this "little kid possessed" horror tale. What set it apart for me was the cast of actors in the movie. These demonic possession movies only work if you care about who is getting possessed, and in this one, you do. The four main characters are wonderful with Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Kyra Sedgwick playing the newly-divorced parents. However, I really liked the sisters (Madison Davenport and Natasha Calis) who could have tumbled down into the realm of parody and scene-chewing, but felt like real kids and real sisters to me.

Definitely worth your time, but honestly should have been released in October.

    Scary Scary Scary!!!

    by

Finally a scary movie that doesn't suck! Creepy and a great story. I haven't seen a scary movie since the original Exorcist that has scared me as much. Usually the other exorcism movies have had crappy endings or a story where the characters never develop. This one has a great story, developed characters and a great ending. Let the nightmares begin............

    Review of The Possession

My husband and i went to see this movie last night and while we thought it was an OK movie.. they could have done alot more with the story line.. now i was glad to see that Jefferey Dean Morgan ( Clyde) actually stayed alive in something... i was also thrilled with the little girl in the movie.. she was probably the best possessed person in a movie i have seen in a long time.. i would tell friends to see this movie however i would warn them that its kind of a slow build.. and that the ending was probably the best part of the WHOLE movie

    The Possession

I enjoy a good horror flick; and this one certainly was enjoyable to me....

It might not be everyone's "Cup Of Tea", but I WOULD RECOMMEND it. The acting was good. and if they did a PART II, I would see it.

Sam Rami and Ole Bornedal make a great team...

I am not familiar with Ole Bornedal, but I am going to check out more of his stuff. Great story telling, great style, mood and of course the Rami timing! Just when you least expect it - BAM! Good scary movie, not gory or gratuitous, just jarring, jump-out-of-your-seat scares.

And knowing it's based on an actual occurrence.... well, that just makes it that much better.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Natasha Calis are wonderful and have that great chemistry that's needed for a film like this. Kyra Sedgwick, well, what's there to say, she's great, always.

I only say 'GO' because this subject matter isn't for everyone. I thought it was really good and think I might see it one more time!
