    Amazing cinematography

    by mflury

I have not read any of the books, but this was a good movie. The fight scenes were exhausting though and a little too long; seemed gratuitous. It was beautifully made--and it makes me want to read the book!

    True fan of JRR Tolkein

    by edrewer

It was very a good movie. It is filling out the story line from the Lord of the rings movies. We did not like the 3D effect during some of the action scenes. It made the movie seem blurry. Loved the movie and the additional story line from some of Tolkein's other books (filling in the holes left by the original book. Cannot wait for the next two movies (and wish it would not be another two years). This movie is for all ages.

    Bilbo brings it!

    by

This is what movie watching is all about - great story, great visual and great soundtrack! There were no long, drawn out dramatizations. Hurrah for those hard working and crazy dwarfs! It was nice to see where the bad blood between the dwarfs and elves originated. Great bang for the buck - pure entertainment!
This new release is more kid friendly. The battle scenes are not as gory - and the villains have some amusing comebacks.

    The Hobbitt

Saw The Hobbott with my family last night. It was very long and began very slow. Husband and sons loved it, that's what mattered to me.

    Hobbit, only better!

I was not sure what to think before I went to the theater. I had seen the trailers and thought it might be too comedic; think Snow White's dwarves meet Lord of the Rings, but I was more than pleasently surprised to see the comedic tempered by the quest aspects of the book.
I was blown away by the use of the green screen imagry,( can't rremember the term PGI maybe?) Unbelievable!!!! And of course the scenery in New Zealand again. Oh My!!!
It was terrific to see all our old friends again, Gandalf, Saurumon, Frodo briefly, Galadriel, tho she was not in the book)Elrond( and so many more. all looking, if not younger than in LOTR, at least about the same, which is amazing considering LOTR was over 9 years ago.
I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED this movie.
I am not quite sure how they will make 3 movies out of the one book, but I cannot wait to see.
If you read The Hobbit in school or on your own go see it. Battles great as well. Good for kids 10 and up, Grownups too.. It will not disappoint!

    Awesome movie

    by

My 8 year-old loved this movie, he was on the edge of his seat the whole time. The Suspend was very good, keep me on my seat too. Love the views of the country and the wilderness, can't wait for the next one

Accelerates slowly all the way to frantic

The end leaves you wanting more.

Go see this one in the theaters - it is definitely a big screen film. There are some things added.. all of them are good.

Some of the action scenes are truly amazing - swinging all over heck and back.

One criticism though: The scenes with Lothlorien were overwrought I think. Just a little too much wispy, ephemeral awesomeness. And I hate to criticize Kate Blanchet, because she is categorically awesome. But in this instance either the acting or directing... something is overdone and the Elf Queen comes off as a hard-to-believe and rather unlikable caricature. In LOTR she is wry and smirking, she never laughs, but you know she traffics in mischief and laughter. Not so here, that aspect is lost and the character suffers a lot and the film suffers a little for it.

Overwrought. But that's the only real flaw and it's pretty minor all things considered.

Do go see it. Well, well worth the price of admission

    Another Magnificent Movie

I saw the non 3D version and I felt it was very well filmed and acted. There was a good flow to the movie, mixing both action and plot building sequences. I cannot wait for the DVD and thn the next two films.

    Fun and well made

I really love the way Peter Jackson brings the books to life. I wasn't expecting the Hobbit to be as good as the LOTR trilogy, but it exceeded my expectations. Was fun and entertaining and had more of an epic feel than I anticipated. Looking forward to the next ones.

    A Simple Review

This movie had some great action sequences and a whole lot of back story. The film didn't progress as far into the story as I had expected it to, so now I can't wait until the next movie! The animation blew me away--I really enjoyed the artwork on the goblins, orcs, wargs, trolls, etc. Another thing I liked was that all of the characters from the Lord of the Rings were in this movie. I got to see more Gandalf, Elrond, even Saruman! Peter Jackson did a great job writing this story, and the acting was inventive and interpretive. All in all, J. R. R. Tolkien would have been proud to see his story directed into such a great motion picture.

    it's the Splendor of imagination

Well, the movie is a great example how magnificent production elements, actors and the nature of the background superpose, yielding a perfection. It?s a one masterpiece of the set of ones endeavored to be owned by the great director of the preceding production: The Lord of The Rings (trilogy). Perhaps this ongoing trilogy of the hoppit will be convergent relative to the former in success and inspiration-capture of the audience.
What I viewed resembles the greatness of a part, and rises the longing to the unveiled rest ones.

    Awesome

The previews and trailers didn't give this movie justice. The storytelling was great, even though they mixed around what happened in the book a bit, it was still an amazing movie, a must see.
What are you doing sitting at your computer right now anyways? You should be going to the theatre right now.... What are you doing?! GO!

    too much fighting

    by anodeaj

I loved being back in Middle Earth with Gandalf and the rest but there was far too much fighting with the Orcs, and far too little of Rivendell and the beauty of the elves. Cinemotgraphy was amazing as only Peter Jackson can do, but how long do we have to endure these incessant battles scenes?

    The Hobbit

A good movie. Lots of Violence. Very similar to Lord of the Rings. The ending left you wanting more. What happens next? I took both my kids, ages 9 and 13, both were a little scared throughout the movie.

    The Hobbit

The movie started a bit slowly but picked up well. The story line followed the book very closely. The acting and cinematography was great. The 2 hour and 49 minutes passed quickly. I was surprised when it ended. I was upset with it being broken up but the break was at the logical place. Over all I loved the movie.
