Bond now and then
A terrific mix of the old and new, with Javier Bardem as a deliciously demented villain, Skyfall felt very much like end of one chapter and the start of a new one. Featuring breathtaking action sequences, a traditional Bond theme song supplied by Adele, one of the better scripts ever written for a Bond film where every character has an arc and intention, and some of the most spectacular cinematography ever shot for an action film, Skyfall is a 10. Mendes and the writers were able to reintroduce many old standards of the Bond series and give them a modern twist. It uses the 50-year history of these characters to stir the emotions in the viewer.
Skyfall is a true James Bond adventure that surpasses nearly every other film in the franchise. Even at over 2 hours, Skyfall never felt like it dragged and it was an exciting, entertaining film.
