    Another Solid Bond Movie

Another good Bond movie that follows the same basic formula as all of the others, but with a few twists. The basics are all there. A chase scene at the beginning, an evil villain who wants to control the world from his island hideout, a beautiful temptress who leads Bond to the mastermind, a scene in a stunning hotel with a casino (shaken not stirred), lots of action as Bond tracks the villain, M calling the shots with Q providing technical assistance, and the giant explosion scene at the end. This one ends a little differently (he doesn't get the girl) but the film sets the stage for the next chapter in the Bond series with some new characters. I loved the throwback scene with the Aston Martin and the old music. There has always been something a little bit off with Daniel Craig as Bond, but I guess no one can ever replace Sean Connery. Overall, I rate it a good solid 8 on a scale of 1-10.

Skyfall very good but not great

    by smegs

Looking at the critics reviews and having seen all the Bond movies I expected something spectacular. Spectacular never happened. This is a very good movie but not a great one. Daniel Craig is my second favorite Bond, right up there with Sean Connery.. The story line is solid, the casting very good (although Judy Dench is looking very very old and very tired) and the movie gets into the roots of the Bond character. The action sequences were good but not great, the acting solid but again not great, the movie moves along quickly but at times feels plodding. It was nice to see an action movie that relied on story more than technology but in the case of an action movie such as this a little bit more technology might have been better. As a Bond fan, I truly enjoyed the movie and would recommend it but I left the theater expecting just a little bit more

Restoring original Bond suspense and action

From the franchise standard action packed opening sequence to the plot twists found in London, Shanghai and Scotland, this Bond was a throw back to the 007's of the 1960's. Daniel Craig emulates an aging MI6 agent dealing with the agony of a lost childhood, deteriorating skills and addictions that effect his mental sharpness. The atypical Bond villain played by Javier Bardem was fascinating. He brought a coolness and intellect that challenged 007 in his pursuit to protect Queen and Country. Skyfall left me wanting more Bond and with great anticipation of the next chapter.

    Everything Old Is New Again

Grew up watching 007 in all his incarnations and each reboot had its merits and flaws. With control of the franchise remaining in the Broccoli family, there's been reliable continuity in the level of action, the clever quips, the "girls", the "Amazing Race" locales, and the triumph of Bond over evil. Skyfall felt stripped down, efficient and raw. With less wizardry and more pure brains and brawling brashness, Daniel Craig and Sam Mendes show Bond thinking and feeling as he confronts his past and contemplates his future. More Judi Dench is always a good thing and her mommy-mentor-master relationship with Bond and the divine Javier Bardem as Raoul Silva is wonderful to see unfold. And adding Ralph Fiennes into the mix was a brilliant cherry on top.

    Skyfall

Excellent film. The image of Bond is more realistic and Daniel Craig offers an honest performance - as do the others in the film. Can't find any objection to anyones' performance. The directing was spot on as was the cinematography. The editing also deserves a thumbs up! Alway amazes one when the script writer puts it together so well. Really a movie to experience more than once. I thorougly enjoyed it. 'nuff said!

    SkyFall

a fun movie for those uninitiated with the Bond franchise. For Bond fans, it is ridiculously awesome, with a wonderful homage to the past and a bright future!

    sucked

Action scenes were cool but hand to hand combat was EXTREMELY fake. Plot was boring and completely idiotic and unrealistic. Also, Danial Craig sucks. The End.

    fallen from the sky-SkyFall

Fascinating Bond movie which they showed and hinted many other themes from other Bond movies. Also, they actually showed more history about who and where Bond came from. It look like the franchise is about to start a whole new series and they might get very serious about it. Bardem as always makes an intriguing bad guy which he plays a bisexual-transgender man! Lastly, they didn't show much on the Bond women especially when I know one of them! But I' am glad to see it is getting great views and making a huge splash at the box office. I recommend seeing the movie especially if you are a Bond fan! I 'am not gong to say it but they bring out a special car that all Bond fans will cheer to see!

Bond is BACK! Great fun all around

A great return to the Bond movies of old. Great action, wonderful crazed villain, sexy ladies without explicit sex, and tongue frequently planted firmly in cheek. I also noted homage to a number of other thriller movies, from The French Connection, to Speed, to Die Hard, to Home Alone(!!), and some very definite references to the Bond movies of old. Good for all ages.

If you're a Bond fan, you already know it's a "can't miss". If not, this could well change your mind. Go see it.

    I shoulda had a v8

    by skysky1

Disappointing & not just because of the hype. Yeah, it had some clever touches and it's a historical occasion to see a 50 year old franchise. But if you want your moneys' worth, see the new Jason Bourne film instead. I'm looking forward to the next Bond film but without Sam Mendes.

    SkyFal

Thought the movie was fantastic. It was good to get back to "old" Bond and learn about his past. Sad to see M die. The humor was a nice addition also, A definite must see.

    SkyFall - 007

Skyfall delivers all the thrills and action of a 007 film, but it is also compelling for non-Bond fans since the series is more into character development since Daniel Craig became Bond. I think this is a film that you can take a non-fan to and everyone will enjoy it.

    Great, great, great movie!

Wife and I get only a few nights out a year (2 kids at home and babysitting is expensive) so I am very pleased with this choice of date night. James Bond via Daniel Craig is great and Skyfall is another strong chapter in this mythology. The villain offers several new twists, but remains true to the bond formula. The new 'Q' offers a contemporary view. Well worth the price of admission.

Decent movie but nothing like the Bourne..

I guess I've never been a James Bond fan. I went thinking I was going to give a try but no, I'll stick with the Bourne series.

    Skyfall a Winner

The movie is an interesting combination of "old bond" vs "new bond". It's much more violent and bloody than your Father's Bond, but they have thrown a lot of presents toward the fans who love all 50 years of Bond.

It's one of those movies where you can't really ask questions, you just follow the old Bill Cohwer mantra: It is what it is and enjoy the spectacle.

Something happens here thare rarely happens in successful movie franchises--and I think it's both a good development and well done.

Overall, a very good flick, Bond fan or not. Definitely worth ponying up the money to see it.
