Big booms and car chases cannot fix a poor script
Perhaps my expectations were too high, but Skyfall was a disaster. There were so many plot holes and so many things happening for no reason whatsoever (uh, shaving? Sniping someone that is in a room surrounded by your coworkers? FLASHLIGHT?!). There is a fine line between making a film that pays homage to 50 years of Bond and making a film that is just a ripoff, and Skyfall fell. If Goldfinger and The Dark Knight had a baby, out would pop Skyfall.
Do filmmakers think that we are stupid? That we will be placated with some blown up cars, a motorcycle chase, and over two hours of witty one liners? Well apparently we are - most reviews of this sloppy movie have been glowing.
Javier Bardem was the redemption of the film, but he only appears after an hour of brooding Bond.
Skyfall is a flashy crowd pleaser, but when you actually delve into the substance of the movie, not much is there. Perhaps if you go drink for drink with onscreen Bond, you won't notice how bad the film really is!
