    Judge Dredd delivers!

Well let me begin with ladies, the weak of heart and those who really don't like action with lots of gore this movie IS NOT FOR YOU. This is one of the most male friendly movies I have seen in a long time. This movie is full of action and totally unbiased violent gore!! For a man this is a must see Saturday afternoon I want to get my mind blown with some visual effects type of movie. Karl Urban rocked the part of Dredd..... MUST GO! If you know a girl that digs action and gore, this would be an ideal date movie.......haha

    He is the Law

OK, for those thinking of the Stallone version from 95, forget it. I actually liked it, yes I did, but this is far superior. Rather than going the campy way of the 95 version, this one remains true to the comic, in that Dredd never removes his helmet. EVER. Karl Urban is the unrelenting lawman, who, even though he never raises his voice, is menacing. Olivia Thirlby as Cassandra Anderson, his Psi-Cop trainee (she's a mutant with esper abilites, a gift from the leftover radiation that has reculted in this dystopic world). Leana Headley, who seems to be making a career out of playing evil women, is great as the brutal Ma-Ma, who runs a gang distributing Slo-Mo, a new narcotic. A really fun film that does have some really brutal violence to it, it conveys the comic very well while carrying the viewer along for the ride. Well worth seeing!

    Dredd = Dread!!

The beginning of the movie story started out pretty bad, there was no real hook other than the visuals. Then right away, the movie projects into hardcore grossness, that I could not even follow the movie plot because I was sick to my stomach and trying to recover from the shocking blow-out your brains type of scenes, but was sent immediately into another bloody scene. All the blood and gore just made me stop following the weak story line, we ended up walking out 1/4 part of the movie, complained to management to allow us to go see Lawless for the price we spent on the movie. I give this movie a failing grade overall, I think only murderers would enjoy this movie!!! This is not even a Red Box rental quality movie!

    Dredd

Compared to the 1995 film, this one takes the cake. Do not be mislead by the trailer, this movie is a silent hit. I have a feeling this film will be a cult classic for 2012. Great performances by Karl Urban and Olivia Thirlby. The movie focuses on both characters in great detail and the movie commits truely toward the orginal 2000 AD comics. Though the movie does not include as much satire from the comic it is nothing like it's predcessor where it was flashy and campy. This movie is just nails it! I highly recommend fans and non fans to watch this movie, the 3D is totally worth the trip, even though I am not a fan and it is costly. This movie makes it totally worth it. Watch it! It's the LAW!

    Great

Much better than that steaming piece of crap from '95. Go to this movie expecting one thing, gore and endless violence. All the punks complaining about the lack of a plot deserve a swift kick in the junk. Go watch some girlie romance movie.

Far Superior to the '95 Stallone Version

    by Wayno

Karl Urban IS Judge Dredd! The feel of the movie is as dark as the comic without losing the darker humor contained within! Very faithful adaptation in every way! Run to see this!

Throwback to classic Ultra Violent Films from the 1980s

    by

Dredd was the complete package from ultra violence (see Terminator, Robocop, etc) and cheesy one liners. Be warned, there are some extremely graphic imagery, most of it is hyper stylized to fit the comic book movie style guide, but a bloodbath nonetheless. The premise is simple, and you get what you know you'll see, nothing more, nothing less. They knew the film they were making and, as it is not a "hollywood" film (made outside of the country and Lionsgate brought it to the States), the filmmakers didn't try to make it anymore than it needed to be. If you are one who things that action movies today are tame compared to those of yesteryear, you must take it upon yourself to see Dredd. Go see it (we saw it 2D), enjoy the splatter, have your stomach turn sour, and laugh at the absurdity of it all.

    Enjoyable Future Cop Story

After reading how this movie got cheated on Reddit, we went to see it. I agree that the marketing didn't do the movie any favors, it's much, much better than you would expect. A really interesting storyline and engaging characters. It is a bit slow in a few parts, where you wish the action would go a bit faster, but overall solid, action packed, and great story.

    DREDD-A-LICIOUS!!!!

    by

True to form to the style and intent of the Judge Dredd anthology. Not for children nor the faint of heart. Pleasantly BRUTAL for the avid JD fan. Story line is average however, this version of the JD film is action packed with good directing, great scenes and 3D effects were brilliant and pioneering. Scenes and camera angles are done very well. All in all, a great ride.

    Dredd

    by

Good not what I thought it was going to be. Dredd came across to me as an old school action flick in the likes Escape from New York or Robocop. Karl Urban does an excellent job as Dredd and I thought Olivia Thirlby's charecter was exellent. Overall I will end buying this movie.

    Purient Interest Only

    by bobnup1

The obvious demographic for this movie is low brow teeners with nothing to do on a Saturday night. Plot? There isn't one- this is just a platform for showing how mentally deranged people with more guns than brains can shoot up their own neighborhoods. They ran in a "mutant" rookie cop with paranormal abilities to read other people's experiences and intentions to head off disasterous actions, but, half way through they didn't develop her character; the director was mentally arrested in showing how many dead people he could pack into one movie. The only thing "Dredd"-ful about the protagonist, Dredd, was his acting, as wooden as one can be. Give this trash heap no stars for direction, none for acting, none for plot, and one star for bullet count. I did like the "Judge's" motorcycles, though- Maybe in Dredd III they can show the arch-villians shooting the Judge's asses off in a Motorcross. Not for kids, not for teeners, not for adults of any kind. Save your money.
