    Surprisingly Entertained

    by bgernux

I don't normally review films, and had no intention of seeing Dredd in the theater, but after randomly seeing it this weekend I was very impressed. I am a comic book reader, but HAVE NEVER READ Judge Dredd comics before. I saw the 1995 film a long time ago, but was never interested enough in it to even remotely care about this reboot of the franchise. However, it was very stylish. Good soundtrack. Good action. Lots of style (a few times maybe excessive). I was very entertained and would like to see future sequels.

    Great

Much better than that steaming piece of crap from '95. Go to this movie expecting one thing, gore and endless violence. All the punks complaining about the lack of a plot deserve a swift kick in the junk. Go watch some girlie romance movie.

    Dredd Action Packed

When I see a film from Lionsgate, I usually have the phrase "action packed" come to mind. Dredd definitely did the phrase justice. From beginning to end, Dredd's action sequence keep the action junky at the edge of his/her seat. The brutality of some of the scenes are not for the feint of heart. Do not see this movie if graphic violence makes you queezy. I rate this one a 5 out of 5 stars in the action genre and a 4 out of 5 in the overall movie experience.

    Did not dread the "Dredd"

    by

I a enjoyed this movie even though it seemed to drag in a few parts. I though the clairvoyant should have been more active but what she did, she did well. I will see it again when it comes to TV. Definitely not for children!

    Over delivered!

    by

I thought it was going to be a high res version of some sci-fi channel crap, but I was blown away! It wasn't cheesy, it's wasn't bland, or too brainless killing-ish. It was solid, the characters were good, the plot held water, and the action was superb.

I honest thought this would royally suck, but was very very happily surprised!

    Amazing

Clocking in at the perfect length for a mindless action-fest, Dredd delivers on every gruesome promise, without apologetically trying to explain every detail of it's dystopian future.

    3 & 1/2 *s

If you're an action fan and can stomach slow motion close ups of head shots, you should definitely check this out in the theaters. I'd give it a higher rating if there were less gore.

Best action movie I've seen in a long time!

This movie was one of the best movies I've ever seen! It kept me at the edge of my seat from the beginning until the end, so i reccomend it to anyone who likes action movies 100%.

    Dredd was GREAT!

Judge Dredd (1995) didn't get it right, not even close. Dredd (2012) does, and does it well. The action was gritty and not in stupid slow motion, the blood was real and not crappy CG, Urban is Dredd moreso than Stallone's will ever be. It's a shame that most people are not seeing this movie because of the comparsions of the Raid; don't compare the two movies. Raid was released before Dredd, but it was made after Dredd was completed. Any similar ideas are literally coincidental.

Go see Dredd, 2D or 3D. 3D was great. This is a great movie in story, from the actors, and how it's shot. Please stop comparing it to the Raid, PLEASE! And please god, see this than seeing stupid films like House at the End of the Street. Critics saying HatES is a good movie aren't to be trusted.

    See Dredd! "I'am the Law"

This is an extremely good/intense action movie

Like I said, this movie succeeds in what in sets out to do. It's not meant to be some complicated thriller that aims to make you think a lot. It's a straight up, in your face action movie loaded with tons of action and violence/explosions/imaginative ways to destroy the bad guys.
The plot is fairly simple, the beginning of the movie has a couple dragging moments but doesn't detract from the movie because these moments are basically background and explaining the plot.
Anyway, Karl Urban is superb as Dredd and his psychic sidekick Judge humanizes and even adds to the story some.
The villain is one of the most evil people I've seen in a movie for quite some time. Yes, there are some extremely gorey scenes but this movie is fueled by the good guys killing the bad guys and it's rated R (so that should say something).

Bottom line: This movie deserves more credit than the critics give it and I loved it. A bit of a cross between Robocop and Diehard with a uniqueness of it's own.

    DREDD-A-LICIOUS!!!!

    by

True to form to the style and intent of the Judge Dredd anthology. Not for children nor the faint of heart. Pleasantly BRUTAL for the avid JD fan. Story line is average however, this version of the JD film is action packed with good directing, great scenes and 3D effects were brilliant and pioneering. Scenes and camera angles are done very well. All in all, a great ride.

    Hamburger anyone?.

I am someone who actually enjoyed Judge Dredd 01 This one was The Fugitive meets Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The sight of a bullet going through someone's face at Mythbuster's high speed camera speeds? Eeeeww*** The wife spent most of her time with her face in my shoulder. Dinner after? Ergh.

Far Superior to the '95 Stallone Version

    by Wayno

Karl Urban IS Judge Dredd! The feel of the movie is as dark as the comic without losing the darker humor contained within! Very faithful adaptation in every way! Run to see this!

    Bada$$

Dredd is one of the best action movies I have ever seen. Karl Urban was perfect as judge dredd and I appreciated the helmet staying on. The fight scenes especially the slow-mo ones were great. Plot was simple but I liked it, and I am hoping this one does well enough for a sequel.

    Dredd = Dread!!

The beginning of the movie story started out pretty bad, there was no real hook other than the visuals. Then right away, the movie projects into hardcore grossness, that I could not even follow the movie plot because I was sick to my stomach and trying to recover from the shocking blow-out your brains type of scenes, but was sent immediately into another bloody scene. All the blood and gore just made me stop following the weak story line, we ended up walking out 1/4 part of the movie, complained to management to allow us to go see Lawless for the price we spent on the movie. I give this movie a failing grade overall, I think only murderers would enjoy this movie!!! This is not even a Red Box rental quality movie!

Hello_Tailor Appropriately enough, the court where I'm doing jury duty looks like a building from Judge Dredd.
