    Review

Very surprising plot, not knowing much of anything about the movie before seeing it. The premise of the movie is disturbing, and yet you find yourself certainly cheering for the heroes in a twisted sense of fate. I was left somewhat dissatisfied with the end of the movie, as the disturbing plot does not resolve, but certainly leaves room for a sequel which I'm sure the producers have in mind. Certainly one leaves with a sense of how dark humanity can be.

    Good Interpretation

    by tawii1

Although there were some differences between the book and the film, the adaptation was pretty true to the original. A lot of fuss has been made about the difference between the characters in the book and their actor representation but I didn't think this really made a difference once things got going.

One thing that I wish had been better represented was the relationship between Katniss and Peta. The film didn't seem to portray Katniss' reservation with representing an alliance with Peta under the false pretenses of star-crossed lovers as well as I had hoped.

Overall, though, this is a good film. Go see it!

Can't wait to see the next one

I thought this was going to be action packed from the time it started, however I was mistaken, but in the end I was pleased. The movie definitely takes it time building the characters and laying the foundation, which was at first disappointing to me, but I must say well worth it when it reached the climax. I like the main character, although I wasn't too inclined to like the co-star, but the surrounding characters were great. In the end you know there is going to be a part 2, writers just leave you wondering how are they going to continue and take it a step above part 1. Can't wait to find out. GO SEE IT, you will understand what I'm talking about.

    The Hunger Games

It is a "Must Go" especially if you read the book. I enjoyed the movie. I thought it was true to the book. My kids enjoyed it and they didn't even read the book.

    Gotta see

Beautiful portrayal of the novel. Loved the film's take on Katniss, Peeta, Prim, and all of the different aspects of Panem. It didn't stray from the novel's perspective while obviously putting its Hollywood spin on it. I highly recommend this movie. MUCH better than Twilight's take on the novel while future movies will surely parallel Harry Potter's successes.

The director should be chosen as a Tribute and then immediately shot in the arena!

    by merersu

He managed to take what was a surprisingly good script, art direction and costuming, and really good performances by Woody Harrelson, Jennifer Lawrence, Wes Bentley, and Josh Hutcherson, and totally **** on them with his idiot choices in camera work! I could effing scream! I came to the movie to "watch" Katniss, not BE her. I don't know why these directors swear we want to be IN the effing movie. I don't. I just wanted to see what happens and because of the way it's shot, you only "see" about 40% of the film. Truly disappointing.

Very Entertaining, Hunger Games is Worth the Price of Admission

The movie is well developed, characters all perform well. Donald Sutherland is excellent and so are the "Tributes". I go to movies to be entertained and this movie definitely was entertaining. Check it out I think you will like it.

    Waste of Money

Screenplay was VERY weak -- it dragged in a number of spots. Character development was lackluster -- had to keep asking my wife (who read the series) who was who and what was their role in the story. A friend of my wife (who also read the series) went to earlier showing and planned on going with us for a second look, but after her first time, she decided not to waste her money to see it again. FX /CGI were pretty good, but other than that, I would say this release is a flop. The hype carried it to the top this weekend, but next week all that will go to see it will be the 13-15 set enamored with the male stars.

The Hunger Games better than I expected

    by nn24321

I hadn't read the book. The thought of teens fighting for their lives did not make me want to go. I went because my friends wanted to. I was very surprised. I really loved the movie. I was surprised how much I got into the movie. The acting was great. The costumes were amazing. Time passed very quickly. I wanted more as the movie ended.

Hunger Games a slight let down.

    by

I did enjoy the Hunger Games somewhat. The thing I liked the most about it was the use of the audio in the movie. They took away way too much of the story though. SPOILER ALERT: They didn't do enough on developing the characters. When reading the book I was so attached to Rue, In the movie they give her about 10 minutes of screen time with Katniss and I felt no hardly anything when she died. I felt detached from Peeta and quite distant from Katniss even though most of the movie was around her. I did enjoy being able to see from the gamemakers perspectives, but I felt as if the overall character development was sub par. The camera work was good, however after a while I felt as if they could have slowed down the shakiness of the camera. I understood is was supposed to bring about the feeling of panic and what not, but it was a little overdone. Only other problem was how edited it was. The book was graphic and the movie took away from the intensity. Read the book first, please.

    Great film!

My son read the 1st book in the series and said it was very close to the book. I thought it was entertaining, and the characters developed very nicely, had good emotion and (even though the main characters are all teens) I felt like I could identify with them, and really cared about the outcome. Unlike many movies done after books, I really want to read the series now that I've seen the film. Well done!

    Hunger Games

I have not read the books, but my granddaughter has - so I took her to see it - not sure if it was for me ... omg ... luv'd it .... took the hook and sinker too ... I'm going to start reading the books on my Kindel - story line a little sad but kept my interest and rooting for the kids. Loved the characters . The scenes were beautiful and vivid - I would go see this again and would recommend to other "baby boomers" - I look forward to future movies :)
