    The Girl on Fire

I was reticent at first to accept the actress picked to play the role b/c I pictured her as much more of a gypsy with layers of rags and shearling and feathers. In fact District 12 was A BUNCH OF futuristic GYPSIES IN MY MIND BUT I BELEIVE JENNIFER LAWRENCE did a fantastic job and district 12 as a poverty stricken appalachisa stuck in the 1930's worked for me. Excelllent film. the shacky hand held footage is a bit herky jerky so if you sit too close, it can be a bit daunting.

    The Hunger Games

My favorite part of the movie was watching Lenny Kravitz! Woody Harrelson is pretty entertaining. Having read the book, I was disappointed with the movie in that it sped through everything & you don't get any of the emotions, struggles & inner turmoil of the characters. If I hadn't read the book, I don't think the movie would inspire me to do so.

    Absolutely Loved it!

I thoroughly enjoyed the books and thought the movie did a great job portraying the story. There were some things that were a little different that seemed like a big deal to me but I don?t want to spoil anything for anyone who hasn?t seen it. It kept me completely engrossed the entire time.

    The Hungar Games

Futuristic but posible. No aliens just ordinary and strange people. Granddaughter had to read book 1 for school and loved it. I got her the collection for Christmas - she says not totally with books. I think I liked movie more than I would books since they are more detailed and often left to your imagination. Good story base...love for family and friends (even unlikely ones). Yes, I did cry. Great acting-was cast very well. Hope we never truly get there - but possible. I would recommend this to teens and on to senior citizens.

    Loved it

Overall I was very excited about how they portrayed everyone and did the movie. As usual, the book is ALWAYS better...and my only disappointment was how she got the mockingjay pin in the movie....they should have kept to the script from the book on this significiant piece of the story. My husband liked it, and he didn't read the books. I think it's a must see.

The Hunger Games from a reader

    by

The movie was amazing and grasped a lot of the details of the book. I feel that it followed 75% of the book and 25% deviated from it. I think the reason it deviated was to capture the ones who haven't read it. It was a great movie and hope that people will want to read the trilogy as they now have a taste of what the games are like.

We all loved the Hunger games

We got our tix 5 weeks in advance, we bought shirts, & my daughter made mockingjay pins. I thought maybe the film wouldn't live up to the high expectations, since we all loved the book, but it did! It was amazing. Visually awesome, great stars, and exciting action. You could tell that the whole audience loved it. With all the hype, going to see the Hunger Games is more of an event than just seeing an ordinary movie. We enjoyed the whole spectacle!

Good for fans and pre-teens, so-so for adults...

    by asp1079

This is a good film for fans of the book. If you love the book, you will definitely like the movie. I have read the book and was impressed with how similar the movie was to the story. But the book is weak to start with due to average writing. I've yet to understand WHY this series is so popular with the pre-teen and teen crowd but what is, is, I guess. The movie's strong area is an attention to detail. It's weakest area is making it serious and entertaining for all ages. As an adult I found this movie just OK. Some of the acting was a bit forced and silly. It's a great film for a die-hard fan of a series. But if you're not in the 'I totally love this book!!!!' fan group on Yahoo or Facebook, don't bother with seeing the movie. Chances are, you'll be a bit confused, bored as hell with the long period between the 'reaping' and the actual games (made more bearable by Stanley Tucci I guess) and the cheap romance side plot that's supposed to somehow pull this film along.

    LOVED IT!!!!!!!!!!

This movie is definitely a Must GO!!! They did an amazing job staying with the book, it played out just as I remembered picturing it as I read it. Can't wait for "Catching Fire" next because that one was my favorite book of the series! Great Job to all involved in the creation and making of this movie!

    Great Movie

    Well,

I was anxiously awaiting the Hunger Games movie. I bought tickets well in advance to go on March 25- my birthday.

The movie is great. The books are awesome. I think there wasw great attention to detail. I am nitpicky, and I don't necessarily agree with all the little things that were obmitted from the movie that were in the book. That being said, they had to focus on the "big picture", and I do get that. They could have made the first book into two seperate movies, easily. But, I understand that is not always an option in movie land. If possible, read the book first. If not, still go and see this movie.

    Hunger Games

I've read the series and fell in love with it and as a die hard fan I must say that the movie has done the series justice. Yes, there were some errors and changes, but none that compromised the story. Loved the movie, the cast, everything. A must see, even if you haven't read the books

    Great movie!

    by MAP-C

This was a great movie stuck very close to the book. I liked how they incorporated all the back story in to the movie. This is for the 12 and up group.

    So Much Like the Book!

If you've read the book, then of course you already know what's going to happen, but the movie mirrors the book very well. If you haven't read the book, the movie will make you want to read it.
