    Very predictable and unecessarily gross

This movie was very predictable and had some very gross scenes involving some close-ups of very bad teeth and 2 booger scenes. Totally unnecessary. The scale was off too. In one scene the humans are as high as the giant's ankle and in another scene they are 1/3 the size of the giant. They could have done so much more with the castle battle.

    Entertaining With Excitement

Great graphics with the giants and the beanstalk(s). A good job was done in completing the story. I was a bit disapponted there was no goose laying the golden egg as the fable storyline's original is told. The acting was quite good. I would not take my child under 10 years old to see this film - quite graphic with the giants.

    Jack the Giant Slayer

Movie goers considering seeing Jack the Giant Slayer will find a film that delivers on its promise, and nothing more. It is a formulaic fantasy, high special effects action film that is crafted well. It delivers an interesting take on the traditional Jack and the Beanstalk fable. You will leave the theater entertained. It will not disappoint, as long as you're not expecting an Oscar best film candidate.

Wonderful ... Reminds me of The Princess Bride

Went to see this on a date with my husband. Enjoyed it so much that I took four kids (12, 10, 9 and 6) back along with two grandparents. Everyone loved it. The story is well adapted. The giants are perfect and all of the characters have depth and are well played. For parents, they ARE man-eating giants, but this fact is made obvious WITHOUT the gratuitous gore thati many films choose to include. There is death but it is implied in many cases. No blood that I remember. No sex nor even innuendo. The giants are bad but not evil. scary enough but they do have personality and humor. Only profanity that I remember was one "hell". . Very good movie. Reminded me very much of The Princess Bride.

    Jack the Giant Slayer

I thought it was disgusting, especially when the giants eat off the heads and killed the people.
This is not for children any age. The children at the movie were so frightened they left the theater.
Will tell my friends not to see it. Was to gruesome.
The acting was O.K. The Cinematography was O.K.

    exciting simple fantasy

Good story for all who loved jack and the beanstalk. One of the better fairy tales remake as they made it simple enough without trying to create numerous undertones and hidden meaning. My boys loved it so it was a great father son movie combination.

    Reminiscent of The Princess Bride

    by krenee

My daughter and I thought this film was excellent! It is witty and clever when it should be, dramatic and frightening at other times. It reminded us of The Princess Bride. If you loved that movie, You need to see this one!

It was a nice family movie....

It wasnt horrible which I was expecting, it was nice to sit down with the whole family and we all be entertained without having to cover their eyes or ears. Not oscar worthy but a very nice take on an old story, there's room for a sequel, my only critique is that I wish it was longer, I was still expecting something more. I would give it 3.5 out of 5. Will have to buy the dvd for the kids.

    It was OK

The giants looked too fake. Some of the action sequences were pretty neat. I think this movie works better as a rental than seeing in the theater. Not all bad. Sorta worth seeing I guess. but not worth the price of admission. Wait for video.

Jack, not a giant kids movie

I took my 9 year old daughter to see this movie, thinking I would be using her as my pass to see a kids movie that I really wanted to see. Boy was I wrong. She was utterly bored and sleeping before the ending credits rolled. This is NOT a kids movie at all. There isn't a lot of gory stuff, however there is more dialog than a kid wants to hear. I also expected a certain level of "cornballness" to the movie, which I was pleasantly surprised to not have found.

    Awesome movie.

I normally NEVER write reviews, but this movie is an absolute must see. Plenty of actions, awesome story, and VERY satisfying ending-- if you are debating on seeing it, and your reading this review, I'm telling you.. GO! It was worth it, bring plenty of snacks and drinks because it is fairly long too!!!

I would also like to comment on the costumes. They were cool. Most fantasy movies have dorky costumes. The costumes the characters wear fit each character appropriately and well, and the knights just look KICK @$$!!!!!

    Miser' able

This is a movie that charged for 3D and the only experience was the beans being thrown down around you. It was a drag of a movie and a miser' able (context of another movie) experience and one I hope never to repeat. Oh, there were 7 people in a theatre set for 260.
