Go for the charm and CGI, not the plot.

    by

To make things short, the movie was honestly very weird. It had a strange feel to it that took me out of it immediately. The plot was also just very strange and convoluted. But the charm and action in the movie were great! The characters were good (excluding the giants) and the CGI action sequences were well done.

Jack the Giant Slayer is Entertaining

Fun movie to watch with lots of action and great scenery. Nick Hoult is great as Jack. Ewan MacGregor is cool as usual. Must see film for the whole family.

Good movie but many gaps and age confusing

    by

Definitely confused whether this is a child movie or an adult movie but it's stuck somewhere in the middle without being a teenage movie.

There's also a lot of unexplained things like no female giants?

That said, still a pretty good movie. Very creative, captures your attention, and the graphics were done well. Other than the gaps, very good directing and casting!

    Great Family Movie

My kids loved this movie. We seen it in 3D on IMAX. It started a little slow but after about 30 mins my 9 year old son was glued to the screen. It was great in 3D!

    Entertaining With Excitement

Great graphics with the giants and the beanstalk(s). A good job was done in completing the story. I was a bit disapponted there was no goose laying the golden egg as the fable storyline's original is told. The acting was quite good. I would not take my child under 10 years old to see this film - quite graphic with the giants.

Wonderful ... Reminds me of The Princess Bride

Went to see this on a date with my husband. Enjoyed it so much that I took four kids (12, 10, 9 and 6) back along with two grandparents. Everyone loved it. The story is well adapted. The giants are perfect and all of the characters have depth and are well played. For parents, they ARE man-eating giants, but this fact is made obvious WITHOUT the gratuitous gore thati many films choose to include. There is death but it is implied in many cases. No blood that I remember. No sex nor even innuendo. The giants are bad but not evil. scary enough but they do have personality and humor. Only profanity that I remember was one "hell". . Very good movie. Reminded me very much of The Princess Bride.

    Jack The Giant Role Player

    by

?Jack The Giant Slayer? involves the story of a well- meaning but over-protective man named King Brahmwell(valiantly played by Ian McShane) who seems more concerned about his daughter Isabelle(strongly played by Eleanor Tomlinson) getting married than allowing her to explore the world around her. Stanley Tucci plays a discreetly evil assistant to the king, but does a good job of playing it convincingly. Ewan McGregor also projects a compelling performance in playing the protector of both the King Brahmwell and Princess Isabelle. Nicholas Hoult plays an innocent and energetic portrayal of Jack. The character of Jack unintentionally changes the life of himself and those around him when he obtains ownership of some magic beans. ?Jack The Giant Slayer? is the type of movie to watch for those who are open to the message of how even just one person can drastically shape events for themselves and those around them.

Not too bad! Lots of action and adventure!

This movie wasn't too bad; I did like it as it had lots of action and adventure, especially since it came from a fairytale (Jack and the Beanstalk). The giants were also pretty gruesome and gross looking. The movie ended as a fairytale would end; Jack and the princess got married, had two children, and lived happily ever after. All in all, it was a good movie and I would recommend it for family viewing.

    It was OK

The giants looked too fake. Some of the action sequences were pretty neat. I think this movie works better as a rental than seeing in the theater. Not all bad. Sorta worth seeing I guess. but not worth the price of admission. Wait for video.

Fun Movie, would take my nieces to it.

    by

The movie had some mild violence, but over all was a fun ride. It was worth the money to go out and see it, the effects were incredible.

Awesome princess and her hero story

Without giving the movie away my 10 yr old daughter LOVED it and the ending! It was action packed for boys with just enough to make it a little gross. But it also had a princess love story attached to make him motivated enough to do anything to keep her from harm for the girls. We missed the beginning so we will be seeing it again!

    Jack the Giant Slayer

I thought it was disgusting, especially when the giants eat off the heads and killed the people.
This is not for children any age. The children at the movie were so frightened they left the theater.
Will tell my friends not to see it. Was to gruesome.
The acting was O.K. The Cinematography was O.K.

Happily surprised at how good this was!

We ended up seeing this movie because it's just a really bad weekend for movies, but this actually delivered! I thought it was entertaining throughout. There was a lot of action the entire movie, and I feel fairly confident that its one of the most entertaining movies out this weekend. Overall, I thought it was pretty good!

    Jack the Giant Slayer

There were some pretty tense moments in the movie, but, of course, it all came out right in the end. The actors were "fun" to watch and believable in their parts. The story was engaging and well-presented. The giants were terrible and terrifying. It was definitely an enjoyable experience and one I would encourage parents to share with their kids.

    Reminiscent of The Princess Bride

    by krenee

My daughter and I thought this film was excellent! It is witty and clever when it should be, dramatic and frightening at other times. It reminded us of The Princess Bride. If you loved that movie, You need to see this one!
