    A Delightful Re-telling

This was great for any age. The special effects were superb! The acting was pretty good. The story-line stayed true. I will purchase Jack/Beanstalk and Hansel/Gretal when they arrive in the store. What are you waiting for? While others re-hash classics . . . badly, the re-telling of our favorite stories is within reach.

    Not giant hit

While the movie did have great visuals, and some very good one liners, it was not as good as I had hoped. It was not a $13.50 movie, but would have made a great film on Amazon.com or Netflix.

    Jack and the Beanstalk

I enjoyed this movie very much but if you go DO NOT see it in 3D--the picture is so blurry, you can barely see the scenes--I was so disappointed!! Now I have to wait to see it on cable because I am not taking the chance to go and have to pay that obnoxious price to watch it in 3D because the movie wants to make more money by having the regular movie stop playing at a certain time. Other than that--the movie, special effects and the love story are a definite go see.

Again, listen to fans critics forgot what a film is about

    by riograd

This movie was fun from start to finish. It portrayed giants how I imagined them as a kid and now. it didn't eschew violence, but did't make it gory. showed what would happen if a giant caught you enough to scare one of them, but not to bathe you in unnecessary gore just for the sake of it for the intended audience. Came away with it more impressed and satisfied then going in there. If I were a kid now it would be one of my new play all the time favorite movies. still has the great message of not giving your hard earned money for useless beans.

    Worth It

    by esad272

I wasn't certain that I wanted to actually see this one, but after going, I'm quite glad I did. It wasn't conventional, it made the entire theater gasp and laugh together, and I would definitely take my children to see it.

    JACK the GIANT KILLER

What a joy to watch this movie. We all know the storyline. This is an updated version for sure. The CGI is spectacular and the cinematography is fantastic as well. The director did a fine job of keeping the film moving along and at a great pace. The acting was good; boarding on excellent in parts. I was indeed entertained and will go see it again. Do yourself a great big favor and treat yourself to a wonderful night at the movies with this one. The giants are super, super excellent, you have to see this one. No cussing, sex or crude bloody violence. I will look for awards in the future given to this film for many reasons.

Jack the Giant Slayer is Entertaining

Fun movie to watch with lots of action and great scenery. Nick Hoult is great as Jack. Ewan MacGregor is cool as usual. Must see film for the whole family.

    entertaining boring and predictable...

    by nngg

overall this movie is so-so. Yes it's entertaining and does become better than the first 30 minutes which were boring. The cgi was sort of cool but nothing we haven't seen in the past gazillion movies which have come out recently. The story however, was just so predictable, stupid, and basically everything about the story and plot fell flat. The acting was ridiculous too. So there is this ordinary guy who tries to help a princess in disguise, and has beans he bought and then they turn into a beanstalk, up to a land of giants. And the giants and the crown, and the fact that the king actually tried to cut the beanstalk while his daughter was still up was just strange. You really dont feel any connection or care to the characters at all and there was no development or audience connection. The actors were poorly chosen and the princess was just annoying. The giants reminded me of ripoffs of ogres from the hobbit. Yes there is a battle scene and it's semi entertaining but nothing great.

    Entertaining With Excitement

Great graphics with the giants and the beanstalk(s). A good job was done in completing the story. I was a bit disapponted there was no goose laying the golden egg as the fable storyline's original is told. The acting was quite good. I would not take my child under 10 years old to see this film - quite graphic with the giants.

    Good special effects, well done

This is a great version of the old fairy tale Jack and the Beanstalk. As long as it isn't seen as a deep life changing narrative which it doesn't claim to be, it's great as an entertaining tale.

Good for Kids of all Ages

    by

I originally thought this movie might be too scary for our youngest son (a 5 yr old), but after seeing it, it was fine for all ages. I'm not really sure why they decided to rate it PG-13 - even though there is killing, it's not really seen on-screen & there aren't any gory bloody scenes or anything like that. It was very entertaining for all of us - the story was good & it was action-packed through the whole movie. Would definitely recommend taking the family to see.

    Great fairy tale romp

    by

I am amazed that this one got such bad reviews. I found it highly entertaining and would recommend it for anyone who likes fairy tale type movies. They did a great job of weaving the story from the original and expanding it. Of course there were some loose spots, but it is a fairy tale. I had a good time watching it personally.

    My View

Over all this was a good moie. It had some real good action scenes, detoured a little from the story. It did have some areas that I think would not be good for little ones to see. Over all I would give the movie a 3 star.
