    Not "necessarily" for children!

Yes, as expected, PIXAR has done it again. The realism of the graphics still leaves you reminding yourself that this is animation.
And without skipping a beat, PIXAR / Disney once again realizing that it would be adults bring the kids to see this movie, injected that adult humor that kept us amuzed while going over the tops of the heads of the younger audience.
The story line...although the draw for the kids is pretty much the animation, the storyline & message is, I would say, mid-teens to adults.
There are a couple scenes in the movie which may be too scarey for anyone under the age of 6 although I must admit, 6 year olds of today are a bit older than they were when I was that age. This is mostly due to the violence in video / media that they are constantly exposed to anyway.
To Summarize what I've said here, this movie is well worth seeing even without 3D.
It has all the qualities of a great film and a very good message to it.

    BRAVE

I've been waiting for Disney to do something new and original for a long time and it finally happened! This film is outstanding for young and old alike. The story is fresh and very well written. The Pixar animation is next generation and amazing. I think you will be impressed--I was!

Brave - fiery adventure fun to see. but another cliched Disney story.

    by

Pixar's 'First Princess Film' marketing enticed viewers and myself into expecting turn-of-the century animation for heroines. That expectation was what led me to a saddening disappointment. Like opening a greatly desired bag of chips to find out my bag was only 1/3 full - the rest is air.
If you've seen too many Disney stories, this is another to tack on top of the stack of similar storied films. it isn't a bad animation, fresh culture background - Scottish; fiery heroine; funny, love-able characters, great graphics, it is fun for the family with a strong family bond theme. A Pixar classic, but in no way a turn-of-the-century piece. The development team had a fantastic idea, a way to start and end, and ideas for advertising, but when it came time to deliver results for an actual powerful middle, they gave up from all the pressure and chose plan B - a cliched fantasy, children's film. Maybe allowing Disney to tag along was Pixar's big mistake. Read more here [BLOCKED WEBSITE]

    Brave

I thought this was a very fun movie that my 4, 7, and 9 year old all children really enjoyed. My wife and I also enjoyed it. It was not quite as good as I anticipated, some slow spots, but over all a really enjoyable family movie.

It was cute, but not amazing

    by Rjudd10

I guess I expect a lot out of Pixar and while "Brave" is visually stunning and very funny in spots, sad and heart wrenching in others, it's no WALL-E. The graphics and animation are amazing and the music is great. The Merida character is very funny and inspiring for girls -- she's breaking all the rules regarding expectations for her gender and her station in life. The story just didn't do it for me. I didn't really get the turning into the bear thing. Merida runs away after being asked to choose a suitor for marriage and meets a witch, who she then asks for a spell that will change her mother. The witch then changes her mother into a bear. Ultimately, the story was very lack-luster and not very engaging. In my opinion, no better than a simple fairytale. My kids liked it (I have two girls, 9 and 6), but wouldn't want to see it again.

    Brave

I was looking forward to this movie all month & I was very disappointed. The story line was poorly done. I expect much better from Disney. My kids (6) and (4) both did not like it either. They felt the movie was too scary. My daughter said that she thought it was suppose to be a princess movie. This movie was far from a princess movie!

A very different and unique Disney-Pixar movie

This Disney-Pixar movie was definitely very entertaining, with colorful characters, amazing animation, and breathtaking cinematography that only Disney-Pixar is capable of! Interestingly, this movie had a darker storyline compared to other movies, like "Finding Nemo," "Monsters Inc," "Up,", and "Cars." I still really liked it. But it definitely did seem darker and deeper than the typical Disney-Pixar movie that I am used to. I would highly recommend anyone to see it! :)

    Terrific family film

    by carivan

Secret reason we had kids: so we could go to see movies like this. (Among other more important reasons, lol.) Seriously, we (adults and kids) really enjoyed the film. Great story arc and character development, and super sense of humor. Another A+ film from Pixar.

    Rental / One Time View

    by Flynryn

The movie was cute, but bland. It was not as entertaining as Cars, Finding Nemo and to be honest most other animated films released in the last five years. My four year old son has a rotation of movies he likes to watch. Cars, Bolt, Monsters Vs Aliens, Wall-E and a few more. I can stand to watch those multiple times as they are whitty and fun. This movie won't make that list. It's a rental to me and not worth the money, the theater was empty and this was only the second weekend. Granted it was 7pm which could be late for this movies general audience.

    Not for younger kids

    by

The previews and reviews had me thinking this would be great for my whole family...6 kids 4- 14. What it did was leave my 4 year old with nightmares and one of my 8 year olds scared throughout the movie at the theatre also.
While it teaches a good lesson, Disney/ Pixar go about teaching this lesson in a very scary way, and could do it by not bringing in such scary elements.

    This movie was awesome

This movie is not only for little girls but for little boys also. Both will love this movie. Finally a princess who dosent need a man to rescue her but uses all her wits on her own to overcome her personal challenges

    Another Disney Pixar Home Run!

LOVED this movie! The entire audience -- all ages -- were captivated. No one in the theatre pulled out a cell phone no one talked -- everyone was captivated and there was an enthusiastic round of applause at the end. Another home run for Disney Pixar! I recommend this movie for "kids" of all ages.

Fun Summer movie for all ages

    by bluzoo

Enjoyable summer movie with the kids. I went with a 3, 5, 11 & 13 year old and we all enjoyed the movie. We all loved the independent nature of this Disney "princess" and the mother daughter journey was heart tugging.

    Fun for adults and kids!

Super family movie. Good story and characters, not too cutesy and not too silly. A few scary moments for the younger kids but it is handled well.
