    EPIC EPIC EPIC

Dark Knight Rises was an EPIC film. Chris Nolan is amazing. The movie was pretty long, but so worth the numb ass. It was so sad seeing the personal turmoil Bruce Wayne endures in the film... But it made him more personable. Tom Hardy as Bane was the BEST!! He played it soooo well. I was completely infatuated with his character. Anne Hathaway was the best Cat Woman so far! All in all, the movies did NOT disappoint me and I am looking forward to seeing it again!!

    The Emporer has no clothes.

This had to be the most overrated movie of the last 5 years. Other than Gordon-levitt and Hathaway did anybody have their acting cards with them? Most seemed bored in their roles. To start 50% of the movie was racing ...cars racing, stylized motorbikes racing, aircraft racing, armored vehicles racing. It would have been nice to have a wee bit more of Batman's character explored. The movie should have actually been called 'Batman's friends and Enemies' . Sub-plots were introduced w/o rhyme or reason. Bale came across as totally tired, and is probably glad this is the last one. However, at the end we are introduced to Robin and the possibility of another hopefully re-invigorated series.

    Batman needs a Ricola

    by

When a movie is 2hrs +, you feel like you got your money's worth. Although I'm not a big fan of fist-fighting & Christian Bale's COPD-like voice when he is Batman, it was a well-rounded movie that had you laughing, cringing, & gave you overall satisfaction.
Anne Hathaway was pretty good as CatWoman. I prefer her fighting style.
    Enjoy

    WAS AWESOME!!!!!

    by

Loved this movie so much! I loved how big it felt. Like the war on Gotham became too big for just Batman! Just made you pull for him and will him on! Also loved Nolans use of characters. Bane and Catwomans portrayal was excellent, and Detective Blakes character was such a positive addition!

Good conclusion to the series, despite some tackiness

As the closing installment to the trilogy, this movie succeeds in its purpose. It provides a neat, clean ending to the hero's journey (although that's not clear until the very end of the movie) and the potential for an extension of the franchise (but they don't guarantee it). Good-to-strong performances by all the major components of the cast, although some of the actors (mainly Caine and Freeman) seem to be a little under-utilized. And with as intimidating a presence as a yoked-up Tom Hardy's Bane provides, his whimsical Scottish voice-box doesn't really drive fear into your heart. I understand they cleaned up his voice post-production to make it intelligible, but I think they could have kept a little more menace.
In the end, this movie does exactly what it needed to do. It gives us an ending. In a perfect world, I think they could have swapped the second and third movies and created a much more potent closing act, but as it is, I'm satisfied.

    Brilliant Movie

This movie was amazing. Especially if you enjoyed the second movie. There's a twist you never seen coming, but I won't spoil it. The cast was excellently selected and the movie seemed to just flow better than most movies. Christopher Nolan can say this is the end of his Batman trilogy, but I do believe he'll be back to make yet another.

WHY is everyone SO SERIOUS about this movie???

    by

Because it was awful. A travesty, really.

A three hour movie should NOT have plot holes big enough to drive semis through. There should NOT be continuity errors a first year film student could pick out. There should NOT be a too loud special effects sound reels played at max volume while the breathless speaking and asthmatic monologuing continues in near whispered tones. The acting was shoddy, the special effects were iffy, and the plot was about as lame as I'll Have Another.

Truly a waste of time and money, on both the viewers' and the producers' part. The Dark Knight Rises promises to deliver and makes a left turn in Albuquerque.

I would LOVE to say that I will at least be renting this movie later to review it and give it a chance to redeem itself, but instead, I think I'll go buy a light bulb and attempt to eat it. It will be far less painful than sitting through that crap again.

    Outstanding!!

Definitely one of the best movies I have EVER seen. The story was solid, the acting was top-notch, and the cinematography and computer graphics were extraordinary. I would definitely see this movie over and over again.

    great movie

Very good movie, the story line was captivating.... Lengthy but the worth staying awake for (I fall asleep at every movie i see in the theater). Christian Bale and Michael Cain did a great job as usual. If there is another addition it will be must see

It's a 'Go' but not a 'Must Go'

    by jjo7975

This movie was not as good as the previous one. I was slightly disappointed. I agree with some of the other reviews that it jumped around a bit. If you have seen the previous 2 in the trilogy then you have to see this one but beware that you may be slightly disappointed.

    Claustrophobial in a Cowl

This is a well-crafted piece of cinema, but, as with a lot of action flicks these days, it takes too long to destroy the villain. The subliminal capitalist propaganda was disturbing, the essential message being that anyone who wants to rob the rich and give to the poor must be an evil terrorist. Christian Bale is a terrific actor, but he tends to play the stick too much when he's in the Batman suit, maybe because it gave him fits of claustrophobia. Anne Hathaway, as usual, was hot and polished. Poor Gary Oldman; a Shakespearean-quality actor reduced to playing Police Commissioner Gordon.

A fun, satisfying end to the series - but not as good as the first two

    by golemB

As with many finales, this film ends the trilogy by trying to cram too many new elements and loose ends into the limited frame of a single movie. While entertaining and satisfying, The Dark Knight indeed Rises - but not quite to the same stratospheric heights of drama that made the first two Nolan interpretations epic.

    Didn't Meet Expectations

I'm a huge fan of TDK and Batman Begins, but this movie as a whole just didn't deliver. The villain, Bane, was hard to understand at times, and I just didn't feel like he had the depth of the former "bad guys." Also, it was super-annoying how certain elements of the story just weren't explained...I don't want to give too much away in the review, but the parts of the story in Moroccan/desert prison just seemed too cliche and really didn't fit in with the rest of the story. Also, the "surprise" villain wasn't much of a surprise. However, when it was good, it was really good -- the visuals are stunning, premise is interesting and some of the acting (Anne Hathaway, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Gary Oldman) was really great. And I love the (surprising) ending. Overall I'm glad I saw the film but was just expecting more.

    Dark Knight

Rating this movie is net easy. On a technical level it was very good. Emotionally, it was a seriously depressing movie. Acting for the major actors was good. A few of the supporting actors needed more coaching. Over all, I'd have to give it a low grade. I do appreciate the fact that the movie went outside of the box. Original thinking is a rare thing inside or outside of Hollywood, but to got to the movie to become depressed is an odd form of entertainment.

It was good, but once was enough.

After seeing the previous 2 films in the trilolgy, TDKR was a must-see for me. Unfortunately, it was a bit disappointing. I thought it was sluggish, humorless, dark and brooding. The ending was melancholy yet predictable.

KUDOS to Michael Caine. His performance was stellar - the best of the entire cast.

I would have benefitted by watching the first two movies again because I haven't watched them since they were in the theaters. The premise of the third film was based heavily on the first two; and sadly, I had forgotten most of what happened (especially with the Harvey Dent story...)

I thought the voice of Bane was ridiculous and gave his villanous character no weight or depth at all. Evil or evil's sake isn't interesting at all to me. The face mask didn't lend itself to giving any expression to the character, so Bane was more of a nuisance than anything else.

All in all, it was a good movie, but I think 3 movies is plenty for this incarnation.
