slow moving and hard to follow

    by

I fell asleep during the first half of the movie. It was really slow moving and hard to follow at first. There was more excitement in the second half and some quirky funny things that were enjoyable to watch. Definitely wish I had waiting for Netflix to show it and saved my money

Not as good as the first, but fair!

    by svd0076

Not as good as the first Holmes movie, but fair. Worth seeing. They play a bit on the audiences familiarity with the fact that Holmes thinks out his actions and observes everything. However, there is less of it and it is much more subtle/less engaging.

    Must See

Great movie took my family and everyone enjoyed it. Loved how they tied the 2 movies together. If you like action adverture this film is for you. Also loved the humor added in.

    Solid continuation of the series.

For me, the true fun of the first "Sherlock Holmes" was not the mystery around which the plot revolved but the engaging versions of the characters, the spot-on acting of the fine cast, and Guy Ritchie's stylish direction. I felt that the same is true of "Game of Shadows". I enjoyed the sequel as much, perhaps even a shade more, than the original. Like the original, there is no mystery about who the villains are or what they are up to, the fun is in figuring out how they're going to do it and the cat-and-mouse game as Holmes and Watson set about stopping them. Along the way, we get some terrific action sequences that deftly interweave humor with suspense. If you've seen the previews and are familiar with the "Sherlock Holmes" universe, then you know where this ride is heading, but you won't be disappointed with what is ultimately a satisfying sequel.

One note: There were some young children at the movie when I went. I would advise ages 13 & up due to the intense action.

    Better than the 1st

This one was better in the first in that it had much more action and the inclusion of more modern technology made this movie really good. I really liked this movie. The acting of course was great and the cinematography was spot on. You COULD bring your children to this movie except there is violence and sexual content. Great acting, story line was solid and the special effects were great. Go see for yourself!

    Sherlock?

    by Jasbar

My wife rated it D-. I gave it a C. We agreed there was too much talking especially at the beginning. The picture was "very slow" in the beginning. I did not like all the close up shots. The first Sherlock movie was much better.

Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows

If you like dry wit and very funny lines this is the movie for you! The cinematography is amazing in parts but it is the extremely funny low key humor that makes this movie a hit with me!

Sherlock Homes A Game of Shadows

This the second of two Sherlock Homes movies in a series, worked much better than the first. The movie was constantly engaging, and although updated by its excellent special effects, was true to the long time Sherlock Holmes legacy. We found it humorous and entertaining.

Sherlock Holmes A Game of Shadows

This movie held true to the first movie, Robert Downy Jr and Jude Law are a great pair and have a dynamic relationship in this movie. The plot is intising and keeps you on the edge of your seat.

    Better than the first

Funnier, wittier, more exciting than the first in the Robert Downey Jr. Jude Law series! Plot was predictable given any knowledge of the original Conan Doyle stories - "the conference will be held at Reichenbach in Switzerland" - gee I wonder what will happen there ;) - but very entertaining.

If you like Sherlock you should love this movie

Sherlock is up against his arch-rival Moriarity., this time face to face, literally. Filled with plenty of action and surprises, Sherlocks's own style of humor and apparent indifference to those close around him, you'll soon be able to see through his disguises (when you see the movie, you'll know what I'm talking about). Partially true to the book story line this movie snaps you to attention from the start and doesn't let go. Ever. I will be seeing this again! Not recommended for the younger ones as there is full rear and partial front nudity male nudity. I'm not prudish, just a warning :-)

Shirlock Holmes: A Game Of shadows

This was a decent covering of Sir Conan-Doyle's creation, but left most of the deductive reasoning out, to turn what should have been a varient of a "procedural" into a special effects explosion display, and display of hand to hand combat.
Downey as Holmes, and Law as Dr. Watson, will not cause older viewers to forget Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce in their versions from the 1940s.
If anything, this might get nominated for special effects awards.

    NOT Elementary, My Dear Watson!

    by

A far cry from the cape, deerstalker, pipe and magnifying glass Sherlock, this is a bit of a confusing mishmash with heavy action sequences and explosive effects. Fortunately, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle is no longer living tosee what has been done to his work.
If you like action movies and are not familiar with Sherlock Holmes, you might enjoy it.

    Great script

As the last few in this series have been, this movie does not disappoint in the special effects and humor department. No stop action and lot of mystery.
