    Surprising

    by

We thought the kids would like, but my husband and I liked it as well. 8yr old loved. 4yr old liked, but was freaked out in parts.

Great movie for probably 6 and up.

    Fun and scary holiday fare

I wrapped up the 2012/13 holiday season by seeing Rise of the Guardians on the twelfth day of Christmas. I was not disappointed.

Rise of the Guardians is dark for a holiday tale. Most of the story takes place either at night, or underground. The antagonist, Pitch (wonderfully played by Jude Law), is out to destroy the faith of children in Santa, the Easter Bunny (not a kangaroo, as he assures us - despite the accent), the Tooth Fairy, and the Sandman. Into this conflict comes our chosen hero, Jack Frost.

Jack Frost's back story is rather sad, and there are some scenes that could be very frightening to very small children (the Night Mares were especially creepy), but in the end, all that is good, with the help of believing children, prevails. The acting here is wonderful, with a nod to Alec Baldwin for his bruising Russian Santa, and all ends on a high note. Santa's elves provide some needed comic relief and the animation is enchanting. Three and a half out of five stars.

    More Christmas than I thought

A good movie nonetheless, but about 1 month too late to watch it - it would have put me in the Christmas spirit. It's also something I'd wait to come on HBO or Starz.

    Excellent Family Movie

    by 2earley

We went on the last day of Christmas break and I was very impressed with this movie that I expected to just be cute and funny. The story is well written (for a kids movie) and it had a good message without being preachy or making parents look stupid. My whole family enjoyed it, very well done!

Rise of The Guardians on Christmas Eve

Great Movie for adults and kids. As a single person on Christmas Eve it was great to hear the children laughing at parts of the movie, they seemed totally engaged and offered quite a bit of applause at the end.
For myself, Dreamworks may actually have matured beyond putting endless Hollywood in jokes in the movie ( think Shrek ). The 3D/HD animation was outstanding and the characterization was good. That each of the spirits had strengths and weaknesses was pleasantly portrayed. The underlying theme of preserving the wonder and joys of childhood as expressed in the characters sentiments was very nicely drawn over the length of the movie. Jack Frost's coming of age, so to speak, as a guardian was one of the nicest character revelations that I've seen in awhile. Also the little visual sidebar scenes of the small elves being themselves was very funny.

Go and Enjoy and listen to the kids laughter, it's worth the price of admission.

Interesting story from the beginning. It even kept my 3yr old interested throughout the movie. I loved the edginess of the characters and the animation was really beautiful.

    Stay during the credits

    by

This was an enjoyable movie that had a decent number of emotional moments to it, be it happy or sad or even a little sappy. You feel for the heroes as well as the villain, and it is a rather unexpected ride throughout.

Hugh Jackman as the Easter Bunny was brilliant.

    Rise of the Guardians

I loved this movie. The way St. Nicholas describes his center is how I feel about Christmas. I love the message that the kids should not stop believing. I am almost 35 and I still believe :-)

Inspirational and entertaining. Each of the characters was unique and charming! A modern day fable that was both engaging and heartwarming. This is a 'must see' for all ages.

Not so much for little kids...

    by Merare

I loved it. I laughed and adored Santa and his tattoos. Chris Pine as Jack Frost was witty and funny as always. I would see this again!

    An absolute must!!

    by hine76

I saw it in 3D - didn't seem to malke much difference until the snowflake at the end. But it was well worth the price. Hugh Jackman did an EGGscellent job as the Easter Bunny! Chris Pine was perfect as Jack Frost. And pay attention to the elves! If you have kids, take them! Even if you don't have kids, GO!

    Rise of the Guardians

    by

Go see this film. It will awaken the child in you. Be sure to sit in the house with a lot of kids.
Some darker elements might be too much for very young kids, so mommies and daddies don?t bring the toddlers. 5 & up.

The magic is so special. and you find yourself clapping and wanting to cheer out loud.

Great story, perfect time to come out, go see for yourself. Hope is something we create, and our fears can make them vanish.
